    *TIPS/HACKS*
    -APPLY TO AS MANY SCHOLARSHIPS
-rent an apartment with preferably 3 others (so rent can be cheaper)... maybe with 2 bed so 2 ppl in 1 room
-learn how to cook basic/quick/cheap dishes before leaving for college
    -get a job during summer
-make friends with ppl who have a car just in case you need a ride somewhere
    -share books with friends
-there's a fee for college health insurance, if you already have insurance, tell them so you can save $$$
-don't miss deadlines, unless you want to lose $$
-make sure to talk to a councilor / therapist bc most students get depressed... it's normal. do not feel bad about it.
-don't get a credit card, bc you do not want to lose control...
-only take loans that you NEED, not WANT !
-make a study group of at most 4... unless you want study sessions to turn into hangouts :(
-if you're dorming... don't over pack
-get active... unless you want to experience freshman 15... or 20 haha
GOOD LUCK! .... I need it... going to college this fall :)

How to survive college is not to attend. 😂😂 just kidding.
    1. Do your work asap.
    2. Take advantage of your teachers office hours and tutoring.
    3. Apply apply for scholarships.
    4. Make friends in case you miss class they could help you catch up.
    Have fun it's college.

if you're still in highschool you can take community college courses for free. most highschool counselors won't directly tell you about it unless you ask. it's basically like taking an AP course but way easier!

I know that for studying, I find it helpful to review all the material, in a preliminary sense, find out what I don't know much about or don't fully understand (or am struggling with), and I emphasize studying on that material with notecards/study buddies/asking for the prof's help to re-explain it/etc... It saves a lot of time and helps you become more well-rounded and prepared for exams in comparison to trying to cram everything into your head, all at once.

I'm a senior, and all of these are so true!! This is stuff I wish I knew my freshman year and had to figure out myself. I HIGHLY recommend #9. Do not take advisors for granted. I wasted so much time taking pointless classes because I didn't take the time to meet with an advisor. Also... look into study abroad!! They are some of the cheapest trips you can get (you can get study abroad scholarships as well)... something I definitely regret not doing, and now it's too late!

For me community college was definitely the slower route. It did save time but it took so much longer. Our community colleges were super impacted so your first couple of semesters you could only take a couple of classes & I would say they were harder than a normal university. But I saved tons of money so yea it was worth it.

    1. I am the youngest of 4 girls and I want to make my mom proud
    2. I'm 17 and I just got graduated 2 months ago at my secondary school and I'm going to community college[Technical]
    3. I try my best to save money so I can buy school supplies for college [$1100] to be exact
    4. I, like I said, try to save money so I can buy a phone and laptop [however they need fixing]

    Tips:
-Join Bing rewards and stuff like that online for free Amazon and Starbucks giftcards.
-Rent books online. DO NOT BUY.
-Ask people who took the course a semester before to see if they will sell you the book cheaper...and get their notes, etc.
-Start paying on your loan as early as you can. Even if it's just paying towards the interest.
-Get to school early for better parking.
-Try to schedule your classes based on where they are located at school to make sure you're not late to them, if possible.
-Ask your professors questions after class and tell them your name so they may recognize you during final grades....attendance and a name-to-face can go a long way.
-Always do as much bonus work as it's offered!

In college, uni or community college you are expected to be organized, so choose whichever system of organizing your notes and papers best suit you. In addition all you need is pen, pencils and some paper. And I would recommend five star, because you never know how much notes you will take. Even though I'm claustrophobic of wasting paper, instead I would I suggest balancing paper with word documents so that it will be kind of easier. Although, recording notes is not that helpful and will be confusing at all once you start studying.

Another tip from someone who studied memory in my master's program.
Try to study in the same environment as you will be taking the exam. When you are actually taking the exam, having the surrounding environment be similar to where you studied will help you recall your information better. If you are able to study in the same room and seat as you will take the exam, that will make for optimal results. (this means no music of any type, unless your professor plays music during the exam.)
Again, everyone is different and people who study in their beds or study with music might do equally well as someone who studies at a desk with no music. The majority of people will excel with the recommendation above. I am happy to provide sources for those interested in reading 11 15 page research articles :)

The most importantly for the majority of college no matter, where you are studying for a major, concentration or following a program of study. To emphasize, study as much as you can in order to keep track on time, and always meet your advisor first of the semester. If you had any concerns or questions about classes you will take next year of 2018. The reason you should study as much is because that will help many students to do well. In addition help keeping yourself focused, and put aside the work for yourself, friends or spending all the day for maybe doing art, working on a new chapter, and maybe trying out a new workout. Study and learn actively, smart, and efficiently, and not the improper way like highlighting the whole textbook or reading a whole chapter. Instead break down the chapter and paragraphs, use post it notes and post on the sections so that will trigger your mind of the notes, questions you had while reading.

My main tip is to make friends
for group projects and to catch up if you miss class.

You are so pretty. I love your videos. I am not in college yet. I will reference back whenever I get there. You should do a makeup challenge.

the community college is a HUGE thing, especially if you live in Chicago. If you graduate from a CPS school, you can go to a Chicago community college (CCC) for two years for free. the first two years are just all about the cores subjects, the last two years are for your major. So you transfer the credits and only have to pay for 2 years of college.
