This was a very interesting presentation, but you left out so much. Granted you gave me new ideas. I wish you had spent a little more time on your thinking about combining the shimmer with the hupershift. The hyper-shifters are so amazingly expensive! I'm experimenting with adding phase shift powder to my less expensive camelion shifters in hopes of increasing vibrancy.
It would have been great to see you swatch the colors at the end. Especially because you said you were doing 2 experiments, one was a smaller micron and the other was the added, iridescence color shift powder. So you should have showed us if it turned out. You could have done a comparison with your old batch with the larger micron and this new one side by side, so we could see the difference too. Same with the added powder, show us normal chameleon paint, against this new one. We would like to learn what it does too. Now I feel like I didnt learn anything, and I'm left with more questions than I started with. And all I got to do was watch you stir pretty paint .. 😔 Thanks for sharing..
Thank you so much for your feedback. Back then, I made a shorts video with the swatches however I forgot to include it in this video. I’m sorry about that. Next time I’ll keep this in my mind so that it helps you see how it turned out. Here are the swatches if you’re still interested, instagram.com/reel/CVvuVTZl2kv/?igsh=Y3V5cjg5Z3U3dHBp Hope you have a wonderful day 😍
@@crafterine Thank you for replying, it's 4 months later but I guess its better than never. I did go and swatch video you attached, and in all honesty they just look like chameleon water paints. I think if you would have shown the purple, blue one dry and different angles, we would have been able to see what the added color shift you added, did to it. Personally I don't think its a proper, here's the outcome video. 😪 Thanks for showing it to me anyways.
Love it! They are so beautiful! I would like to try out your recipe. Do you mind sharing a link with us where you got the pigments from? I'm not sure if i found the right one.
Beautiful...do we only use color shift pigment for these that u have demonstrated..also it would be great if u can put your ingredients on the video so we can jot it down..this demo was amazing 👏..thank u love it .
Thank you very much. I really appreciate your time. I’ll include it in the upcoming videos. You can also checkout the full tutorial of paint making on another video 😃
I found a website called EyeCandyPigments but I'm not 100% if these are the same pigments that can be used to make paints. I'm also trying to figure out where to get this stuff. 😂
Thank you so much! I'm new to making watercolors. I'm curious, have you tried adding non-iridescent whites to other pigments to make them more opaque or visible on black paper? Or maybe pearlescent whites? I purchased some great and shiney pigments but I'm disappointed that they don't seem to show up on black paper as brightly as the paints I've previously purchased premade.
Thank you for your interest in buying them. It means a lot to me. Unfortunately these are out of stock right now, but you can see my shop @crafterine on Etsy, if you find any other watercolors interesting 😄
In this video, I’m using a pigment which is really really tiny. Like 5-10 micrometers. So it turns into super fine paints without grains. I feel honey makes the paint smoother so I do use it, but I also use glycerin in my binder too 😃
Looking forward to when you will supply to UK . Please keep me informed . Great videos and very helpful . Can I ask where you buy your half pans please as well as others asked the pigments ? thanks
I’m working on opening up my shop to more countries. I’ve been sourcing pigments from local places here in Germany, some from Ebay, Etsy, Temu etc. I’m sure you can find some of these online 🥰❤️
It looks really awesome. I want to ask something. What is the name of the material you added at 0:37 seconds? Where do you procure it from? Can you share the link please. Thank you in advance for your kind reply.

I believe only on papers since they are watercolors and might be tough to hold onto other surfaces. I have tried on air dry clay, but they weren’t as vibrant as on paper
You can dry it in a paint pan or in a small container. You can use your old unused palette too 🎨 . After it is dry, you can rewet the paint and use it like regular watercolours

The binder is specifically made for watercolours and can be used to an extent for gouache. To make regular paints like acrylics, I found an acrylic binder on Amazon, that should work 🙂
for the preservatives, I would use : 1. Thyme oil or clove oil 2. Sodium benzoate 3. Oxgal (non-vegan) 4. Synthetic Ox Gall (vegan) I hope this helps :)
Hi crafterine, 3 months ago I made watercolor paints, sticking to your videos. I would like to ask if you know what could be the reason why they are still soft and sticky. I live in Denmark but no matter how humid it is, isn't that a long time to dry? Thanks!
Hey! Thank you for supporting my channel ☺️. If it's soft and sticky, I would reduce the amount of honey I added into the binder. I hope it works out for you too. You can also alternate honey with glycerine too.
Absolutely! I've mentioned the materials and also the proportions in another video which is available in the playlist of handmade watercolors. I hope that helps you :)
All my pigments are locally sourced from a small business here in Germany. I do not sell any pigments, but I did find a few on Amazon. I also prefer to mix them to create new shades
hey , my paints gets hard once they dry in pans and takes more time to get activate I'm confuse what to add and what to not ? should i add more gum arabic powder?
Hardness of the paint might be higher if you have more gum arabic than required. To give the paints less activation time, I would add honey/glycerine to it. If you're working with mineral pigments, you can always try oxgall too
Fun video and gorgeous colors 😍, where do you recommend buying such pigments to experiment? And as far as binder goes, do you also use Gum Arabic and glycerine? For a beginner it is hard tp figure out what ratio (recipe) to use. Btw I liked a few of your paint making videos, thank you! 🎨
Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it. It does take a while to catch hold of suppliers of pigments. However, i figured that Amazon and eBay do have mica pigments being sold. If you're starting out, i can recommend one of my other paint making videos where I make a bronze color with the right ratios that worked for me. I hope you find that useful :)
I’m over obsessed with the video 😍😍 I loved it .. literally a therapeutic art 💜
Thank you so much for your kind words 😍

It’s called an iridescent colorshifting pigment

Might try and see if it works for making oil paint
I believe oil paints need a different binder medium. Let me know how it turns out ✨

I just use nail polish, though you can't get it in large quantity and the fumes aren't great..
I had the same trouble but overtime I realised that there are few sellers who sell really vibrant iridescent pigments, but they are really expensive.

I let it dry naturally. It takes a longer time but it’s alright for me
where do you get them in thesew quantities ?
These are only 5g packs. I source them from a local supplier

I believe only on papers since they are watercolors and might be tough to hold onto other surfaces. I have tried on air dry clay, but they weren’t as vibrant as on paper
Could you let us know how much honey, essential oil and binder to put?
About 1/2 tsp of honey in 100 ml binder. 2-3 drops of essential oil, while making each paint

Yes. Again, it depends on the pigments. You can always ask the seller for the lightfast measure of the pigments
Did you create some of the colour changing effect by mixing few colours? X
