Let me show you how to fill your empty half pans with tube paints, and it's a great way of saving money too! I also wanted to demonstrate that even if you buy 5ml tubes, they dry in different quantities after you put them in pans. It mainly has to do with the pigment density and amount of binder, preservatives and fillers used in the making of the paint. Some of the huge brands like Schminke, D...

      @@crafterine thank you ☺️ I’m just asking, because I’m running into some troubles with my watercolor, with a particular pigment from guardi, when I do the test with my finger or especially with a tissue I can see the Color on it and I tried adding more watercolor binding but that barley fixed the problem ☹️☹️☹️ I haven’t had any problems with the metallic colors so far, but this blue (not metalic) is quite challenging, do you know what I could be doing wrong? 🙄

    My question is what size glitter particles are you using and if you have a supplier can I get a link? I've been experimenting with my own glitter paints and I find not all glitter is created equal and I'm having a hard time finding a holo glitter that doesn't settle ontop of the pan. The SIZE is also important too. I try to use 1/256" 0.004" 0.1mm or if I can find it ( which isn't that easy ) 1/360''. Hemway

    If you are like me and only want your favorite sketchbook on your travel instead of buying some random one the last minute, here is a lifesaver ;) This video shows you everything I did in the making of the sketchbook along with my mistakes :O and the fixes and workaround I did. I learnt a lot while making these : 1. get the right waxed thread 2. choose thicker paper for end pages I used a handmade one from Portugal although those papers are amazing and give the sketchbook a unique touch, may be for starters I could pick card-stock so that the glue wouldn't soften it so much. I am looking forward to making more handmade sketchbooks with the watercolor papers I have in hand. Let me know in the comments if you like more videos of book binding or of paint making. I am working on releasing a "making of gouache" video next. wohoo!

    • @crafterine
      @crafterine 2 місяці тому

      Oh ! I’m sorry to hear that. If the pigment is not sticking to the paper, it needs more binder. The binder helps stick the pigment to the paper. If it’s getting on your fingers, it definitely needs more binder. When you rub a tissue paper and there’s no dried paint on it, till then you have to keep adding the binder. I hope it works out for you. Let me know how it goes.

      The mica pigments don’t need as much mulling as mineral pigments. However a rub test on white paper helps determine the mulling is enough. After swatching the paint on paper and letting it dry completely , rub over it with a paper towel, if it is clean, the paint is ready

    How do i know how much watercolorbinder is required?

    • @crafterine
      @crafterine 4 місяці тому

      That’s a good question 😊. The best way I do it is by doing a rub test with a tissue paper like on 4:39. After swatching the paint : 1. let it dry completely 2. Take a clean tissue and rub it over the swatch 3. If the pigment or the glitter is found on the tissue, you need more binder. 4. If the tissue is clean, you have enough binder already, like in 5:14 I hope this helps. It’s tricky to have a fixed measure because some pigments need less binder and some need more. So I would suggest you to start adding the binder little by little until you find the right amount 😊
