Wooden chair idea

- During last couple of months, while I was working on curved beam glulam project, I separated a lot of boards that had worm holes, blue stains and knots that fell out.. It became quite a big pile so I started wondering what to do with it.. It would be a shame to turn them into smoke and heath energy so I decided to make this experimental project.. I'm quite satisfied how it turned out.
I started by making sure all the slats are same width and thickness so I let them trough a planer. Then I simply glued the slats together with enough excess wood to mill later on.. I used two component melamine glue which holds quite well even though no pressure is applied. I used approximately 10 kg of glue. When the glue was set after few days, I removed large chunks of wood with rotary file so the robot has less work.. Robot had somewhere around 10 hours of milling and surface planing. After milling, I fixed the small cracks with wood putty and sanded everything with progressively finer sandpaper. All together, this project took me around 30 hours to make and yeah, It's 90 kg heavy ;)

I was all set to attempt this myself then you brought robots into the mix
Well technicly all the robot did can be done with hand tools.. just ALOT more work hours. So stop the excuses and get to work ! hehehe :)
@@UltraSuperDuperFreak screw that noise lol
Matt Kent same here brother. 🤟🏼😂
yeah, wtf
Learn to use a wood carving tool attached to an angle grinder. It'll make short work of that sculpting.
As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
I say this every time, but your designs blow my mind. How do you use robotic arms, power carving, a forklift, and make your own wood glue from scratch, all in the same amazing design?!
own wood glue? its a two part wood glue for setting time..your channel is about wood working why dont you know this?
not an expert, I just play one on UA-cam ;)
You just play one on UA-cam? i guess everyone has their own standard. ;)
wayne wayo aveyard my channel is about design...not process.
Modustrial Maker
claim down, i haven't insulted your channel. if anything i do like your designs. you was being witty so i was repaying the favour (banter). i will say its nice seeing a youtuber praise another.
Jetzt will ich unbedingt einen eigenen herstellen. Als Projektarbeit der letzten Sekundarstufe. Ist die wirklich sehr gelungen und ich hoffe das es bei mir auch gelingt. Es hat mich sofort begeistert
Seriously, your design is incredible. I also love the classical music. Cheer!
THAT, is super cool!
Thank you, means a lot to me coming from you!
Hi frank
This is how Skynet would be if it took over Ikea.
You make this look so unbelievably simple! Fantastic design and awesome video to watch 👍🏼
Amazing work... design, execution, flawless. I can’t imagine the work that went into programming the robotics. Subscribed!
Cool design buddy.. it looks comfortable. Good job!
Every time it boggles my mind, your ideas are incredible and skills even better! Great job Lignum, the Kuka put a smile to my face.
Thank you Eli! Glad you like it!! Btw your ebike build video is awesome .. Superb editing, like you have some professional editing studio to do your edits.. :)
Your videos are just pure therapy for me!!
Very cool looking chair.
Watching the robot carve is very hypnotic.
The final surface design is very graceful and beautiful. The back would look incredible as individually carved feathers. Or maybe it’s just the Ode to Joy that puts that in my mind.
This is my new favorite channel. So creative!
Wow man, Thank you so much for saying this! Means a lot to me! :D
absolutely stunning!
Belongs in a museum. Seriously.
Ahaha, It belongs to my attic atm.. But thank you so much! 😃
A very nice looking lounge chair.
Thank you Jeff! :)
Absolutely glorious! I love this!
Thank you Mark! :)
OMFG this is so awesome. Great idea on what to do with scraps. And the numbers are off the charts...10kg of glue, 10 hours of slave work for KUKA and 90 kg total...masterpiece.....
Thank you Martin, If you get an idea what else to do with scraps, feel free to share your thoughts :D Glad you like this one!
Very impressive indeed. I really enjoy seeing people taking they’re creativity to another level. 👍

Thank you Seth, Glad you like it.. :D
Two of my favorite things: Beethoven and carpentry! AWESOME chair design my fine fellow. Huzzah!!!
Just wow! Another amazing build. If you hadn’t t filmed the robots doing the carving and you had done a bit yourself, I would have thought it was all your work!
Hello a fantastic project. This is an inspiration for all woodworkers.
Best regards from Andy
Seriously beautiful.
Thank you very much! :D
ÇOK BASARILIIII
Truly amazing. Your design makes it look like its moving forward at a very fast rate. MTM eat your heart out! Thanks and cheers, David.
Thank you David! It reminds me of a meteor falling :D If that makes any sense..
Great work. I love the combination of the curves and straight lines all in one project
I was a bit worried about it while the idea was sitting in my head, but it turned out fine .. :D
I have a really big respect for you and your creations. Thank you for share whit us your job.
I wish my good wood projects looked half as good as your scrap wood projects 😉. Seriously though, an amazing looking chair. For some reason, it reminds me of that old Memorex cassette tape ad where the guy is sitting in front of his speakers with his hair blown back by the sound pressure blasting out at him!!
Thank you man! Someone here said the same thing ! Now I'm sorry I didn't use Wagners music and filmed final frame with compressed air blasting towards me while sitting in it.. :D
I'm still shocked, but i can write AMAZING! Incredible project, all my respect.
Such marvelous idea & wonderful craft!!!
Pure Art...👏 Thank you for playing good music aswell to this video
Não há palavras para definir todo o processo, apenas parabéns!!!

Wow! it is the first video that i watch, but it blow my mind!
greetings from Argentina!
Kdo umí ten umí a kdo neumí ten čumí. Sleduji vás od začátku a jste borec to jak umíte zkombinovat klasické řemeslo s robotem si zaslouží uznání a obdiv a v neposlední řadě pane máte vkus a chytrou a nápaditou hlavu.
Incredible as always lads!
Thank you man!

Pixel lounger: great name, great opening photo, great project...and super cool result. Love it!!

Ode to joy is so fitting for this video. Cudos!

Thank you David!
Amazing job, really.
I want to make that, but I have neither the funds nor the time. Such is life. Good job
That's just a beautiful piece!!!
Glad you like it :)
Great idea of utilizing offcuts :)
Incredibly amazing, what a beautiful work, a true work of art !!!! These robotic arms are too top, such a machine here in Brazil would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars kkkkk congratulations for the arts, are beautiful and amazing !!!
Great job. Nice Sound.
Thank you:D
With all that glue usage, I thought I was watching my own channel for a minute! Haha. Good job! You're closing in on the 100K my friend!
Yeah, It took almost 10 kg of glue, So basically more than 10% of it's weight is just glue XD.. Yeah, I can't believe I got this far.. Not in a wildest dreams.. I never thought I would be doing this and loving it so much.. And reading comments is the bast part! :)
Where do I buy these products ?
Fantastic and Beethoven as well!
Loving that robot arm
very creative, good, beautiful
I was expecting to see a super cut of like 4 days of hand grinder work then boom your using a robot arm. I appreciate the crap out of that getting the thing dialed in must have been a challenge.
I have to admit it was a challenge for the first month or so.. But practise makes perfect..
Bravissimo -- Complimenti .
Something i was looking for
Thank you so much for the video
That was dope af
Good job!
Thank you!
Fantastic
BELLISSIMA !!!!
Wow. Great idea! Awesome... i will try to do this
That's awesome, glad you will!! I plan to make more pieces in the same style..
Woow! Automation in action!
awesome chair and awesome cnc
Thank you man!
wow - love it
Spectacular piece of work! I love that breath of exhaustion as you plopped down into the chair after the work was done. I suppose this would be "doable" without the aid of CNC, but I can imagine just how long it took with you automation; I cannot imagine how long it would take without all that. Anyway - nice job. Be proud of that.
You are right, it can be done without a cnc but It would take me ages to do it to that level.. So glad you like it ! :D
Great mix of two type of art (music and wooding skills), Amazing work 😉
Thank you, Glad you like the combo! :D
Great work.
Wow, simply amazing! Like art that broke apart from a large piece.
You just gave me a start of an idea..
Cool! I like inspiring people!
Brilliant!
Thank you!
I don't think it's quite fair that you have not one, but two freaking ROBOTS!!!!!!
Awesome bro 💪
Thank you man! :)
That’s was a lot of wood. Very cool!
Yes. and plenty more of it waiting for suggestions! Glad you like it!
great effort and result, love your work
Thank you Peter!

Thank you for new design.
Thank you for watching!
