What are the differences or benefits between perfumer’s alcohol and Everclear when making perfume oil dupes into sprayable format? Is there a difference in the perfume oil’s performance on the skin?
You want the most pure ethanol you can get your hands on. Everclear is fine for personal use, but if you plan on selling your final product, you'll want to use a perfumery grade alcohol as it is much cheaper.
It all depends on what you're trying to achieve with your fragrance. You'll want your mixture to contain mostly Ethanol. If you don't need to dilute the fragrance, I wouldn't suggest adding Mono Propylene Glycol at all. May damage projection.
@@Whiffly ops yes sorry I mean that. I bought food grade Ethanol 96% in supermarket and I tried enough, but hmm seems like if the result is always not so sweet and nauseating fragrance. So I thought: maybe good grace alchool is not good for perfume, maybe its better cosmetic grade alcool or other for commercial perfume making?
Very informative video. Well done by you for a lots of perfum lovers out there who are trying to design their own perfums at home and I am one of them. I use carrier oil for my fragrances but first time I decided to use alcohol as a carrier after watching your videos and bought ethanol 95% (made from corn and sugarcane here in Melbourne) with 5% water, and bitrix as denaturant. This alcohol smells so strong that even at 20% perfum 80% alcohol ratio, for few seconds after the spray, you can still smell it with your perfum mixture. How to fix this issue? Why these branded perfums don’t have alcohol smell at all in there perfums ? Your guidance will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your reply. 🙏🏻😊
Hey Sarmad! I'm glad you're enjoying my content 🙂 So, I had run into a similar issue in regards to the solutions I've created a little while back, specifically the Calone Solution. Aging is the key to allow the scent molecules to bond with your alcohol. If the concentration and aging for a longer duration (1+ Months without removing the cap to test) doesn't help, I'd suggest possibly trying another perfumers Alcohol. Aging my scents for longer, without disruption has helped a lot.
No problem! Any ingredient other than Ethanol (Alcohol) or the letters SDA (Specially Denatured Alcohol). My current bottle of perfumers alcohol doesn't have a label with this information. I only know through the suppliers website where I purchased my alcohol.
Thanks for this video but for a perfume oil that can last 24hours. Can I use 20% frag oil and 80% Carrier oil and for alcohol base. Can I use 20% frag oil, 10% propandieol and 70% ethanol ?
Very informative. I can purchase 96% ethanol because I live close to a distillery. Do I have to denature it for use in perfumes? Or can I proceed without denaturing it? I guess what i'm asking is that is there any of the denaturing ingredient that adds anything beneficial to a perfume? or are the ingredients only to prevent consumption?
That's a great question! Like you said, I believe the denaturants are mainly used just to avoid consumption and taxes related to alcohol and tobacco in its raw form before blending ingredients. Pure ethanol is definitely ideal if you have the connection 🙂
Preferably cosmetic grade. But, with that being said, some will use food grade ethanol such as Everclear for personal fragrance development! Hope this helps
This is so helpful. Been looking for this infos for my first mixing project. But now im bit confused with alcohol to use in dillution for my neat materials I have both ethyl alcohol 96% with .5g/HL bitrex, dpg and ipm.
It smells like Alcohol, the same way Perfumers Alcohol smells before the aging process in fragrant ingredients. With that being said it's expensive and isn't recommended for products you plan on selling.
Hey! You'll want to decide if you're using a carrier oil (oil based scents) or using Alcohol as the carrier itself. The rest all depends on what classification you're looking to achieve. EDC (2-4%) EDT (5-15%) EDP (15-20%).
Yeah they're all relatively the same. Each is a synonym for Ethanol (ie: Grain Alcohol) although Perfumers alcohol will generally contain a denaturant, while Ethanol has the ability to be pure. I think Perfumers Alcohol is a favourite in the perfume industry to avoid taxes related to tobacco and alcohol ✌🏼😁
Technically, the purest Ethanol you can get would be best. Food Grade is often more convenient to obtain if you're using it for personal use. Denatured Alcohol is used to avoid ingestion and tax regulations related to tobacco and alcohol.
Hello Sr can you answer me please it good to use natural ethanol as a carrier and propanediol as conservative.for sintetic perfume oil both are natural that mean will react well in the skin ? And will not change the smell of the perfume?. Thanks
