Thank you! Yeah, without retaliation, it it's such a hassle to deal with the blood shower without breaking the pace of the fight, but it was so satisfying to deal with that kind of limitation and actually make it work.
Thanks, man. It's awesome to see that you're back. I didn't have the fortune of seeing your stuff when you were more active back in the day, but you're a legend and it's nice to see more of the older players coming back lol. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this game.
I never bothered with Varre's questline since I guess Varre's Bouquet is not worth getting anyway. I just cheese the NPC invader in the snowfield to get into the palace.
No... you didn't go straight for Varre. You went and collected smithing stones for your swords. Wait. How'd you get through NG, NG+1,2,3,4,5, and 6 at lv 1? That's quite the feat.
I beat all the bosses and collected almost everything in NG, and then I rushed through the easiest required bosses for each NG+ cycle, so for me that was Margit, Godrick, Radahn, Draconic Tree Sentinel, and then Morgott and the rest of the mandatory end game bosses etc. That's not too bad when you have all the optimal talismans and the physick flask and such, since you can even beat Radagon/Elden Beast in under 2 minutes in NG+7 with Bandit's Curved Swords, and everything else can be downed in mere seconds. I also picked up some of the highest tier smithing stones in the easiest locations to grab, so I ultimately have a lot of fully upgraded weapons to choose from as well.
You can play with his AI a bit especially in phase 2 since his attacks are mostly contextual based on positioning, but there's still a lot of randomness and jankyness so you still have to learn all his combos. It would take a PhD thesis to describe everything that can happen with this fight lol.
Yeah, his AI is not great sometimes lol. Part of the problem is sticking too close to him, but I wish bosses in general would use more varied attacks regardless.
This is boring to watch, boring to play too probably. I think it's more impressive to use clunky weapons/spells as a challenge than to just strip away all game mechanics and all strategy to roll and hit r1.
To each their own, I didn't find it boring to play at all. I did an all bosses run in NG+7 with all sorts of weapons, ash of war skills, and even some of the big spells that I could use at level 1, but this restricted play is absolutely more strategically involved. Playing aggressively like this is also more technically challenging than using slow weapons, as the most difficult punishes (i.e. those that require the tightest timing/spacing) are often only possible with light or medium weapons, so heavy weapons typically have more simplified strategies that engage with less of the boss movesets.
@@Dargonsouls I was not talking about slow weapons, I was more talking about underpowered or underused ones, spell comboing or something interesting like that. High risk, high reward gameplay. What you're doing here is about pure memorization and patience, while impressive on a conceptual level it just looks unengaging..It's like watching boxers only jabbing and staying away. Not using many tools of the game can look like you're not really playing the game.
@@morbidcorvid9294 I see, I understand and appreciate that perspective. Few would enjoy watching a sport where the athletes only use the fundamentals, but I was just trying to say that this style of play does require higher order skills even if it's not readily apparent. I do also find it fun sometimes to use underpowered weapons, as the meta choices can get stale, but imo that's more a matter of the boss design itself, whether the boss is designed well to balance risk/reward with varied player expression using the tools the game offers.
@@Dargonsouls I didn't expect a souls fan to take to criticism well tbh but fair enough. I understand the appeal of very restricted gameplay, it's definitely skillful but just not my kind of thing. The algorithm decided it was a good idea to show me this so some critcism was coming your way lol.
@@cerbero20 Oh, that is a lot of fun! I did something like that too, but now we have to wait to see what new weapons you can get in the DLC. I'm sure there will be at least a few more good options for level 1 builds.
Damn this is so cool. I always just use carian retaliation, but the way you deal with the blood shower is inspiring. GGs

Great fight, thanks for the breakdown of your strategy!
Best Mohg player in the world
I was trying to be, still wish I could have done more
impressive, holy fuck. Well done!
Thank you so much! I felt like I was playing out of my mind when I was doing this attempt lol.
Absolutely beautiful kill brother, the aggression, the wing punishes. Learned a lot from this GGs

bro is getting mohged
Mohgwyn? more like Mohglose haha got em
G-S0ul would've got a sub 4 minute kill in less than 4 hours of attempts. 😉
honestly I don't even think 4:30 is possible without talismans even if you use crouch tech, but u rite G-S0ul would find a way
you can crouch after your attack to recover your stamina a bit ealier (assuming you don’t have to roll after that attack)
Crouching always has ealier cancel frame than simply walking after an attack in Elden ring
@@polly_2526 yeah ik I'm just kinda scrubby and fumble my inputs or spacing with that kind of thing
How'd you get to mohg?
Did you lv-1-kill every boss to complete Varre's questline?

Now do it without swords... wuss
lol, jk
I can barely beat the guy
I honestly might but I'm such a scrub with low damage runs lol
Yeah but when in fight em he does the most bulshit maneuver combos this world has ever seen 😂
