Good stuff Greg! I find the Tegel Nashville Style better thanks to its spiciness. You should give it a shot - I think it definitely rivals KFC's Hot and Spicy.

Hey GregO, will have to look for the brand here in Woolies, NSW. Viewing a lot of your back-log videos- especially the Fish and Chip reviews, liking your 'like' of Chicken Salt - maybe you should have an emergency pack of your own chicken salt in your ute. Or better still how about a chicken salt tasting review - I know there are a number of different brands of chicken salt in the different supermarkets. Keep up the good work.

I’ve had a few bags of these over a few months. I prefer the Nashville version with a bit of chilli spice. At half price $7 special, they are great. For $14 it is a bit marginal.

It's not though. The chicken looked very bad quality. All the black parts. Also the coatings on the supermarket stuff is always weird and too compact.

Nashville taste way better compared to Louisiana & the breast one IMO.
Not too salty unlike Louisiana & it's tingly spiciness is quite nice

In the air fryer is delicious. I follow those same temp directions (180°C & COOK FOR 25min on one side & 20min the other & it comes out more evenly cooked on both sides. My go-to is the Nashville as its hot(more spicy than hot to me..but very good)
lol, i love the rollo taste test part. in my experience dogs will pretty much eat anything including vomit, so not entirely sure how much weight we should put on the ol rollo taste test meter lol.
These are pretty good for frozen range. I personally like the Nashville ones better. Could easily make a lazy mid week out of these...🍗 🍟 🥗

I agree it's a bit on the bland side as well and as I said elsewhere in the comments the Nashville hot is better but not by a great margin

The best supermarket fried chicken I've had so far is from Aldi,I love the seasoning. Then followed by the southern fried chicken from woollies .

I've had these in both the Louisiana and Nashville Hot versions
As Frozen chicken goes they're all right but nothing to rave about..I preferred the Nashville Hot as the Louisiana was a bit bland..The only positive I had was at least the chicken pieces were Nice and Big ( that's what she said..beat you all to it lol)
Other than that I'd rate them somewhere between a Five to a Sux (for our Kiwi Cousins 😀)
I didn't like the chicken portions at all. Hidden under all that coating was skinny old boiler chicken. This Tegal stuff is made in New Zealand, but from foreign products. The chicken, is quite likely from China.

What would the results be if it were just 1 piece in the air frier? Maybe multiple pieces create a fluid dynamics situation where the air flow is blocked, therefore not cooking evenly.

The patchy colour is from when you turned the chicken over - the moist parts where the chicken was in contact with the fryer will look like that after dry heat
Aldi have a southern fried chicken in the fridge section it’s not too bad . Great in the air fryer
Sells for about 12.90 kiwi $ over here..the nibbles and tenders and burger Patty's are good too. Think they come out better in the oven vs the airfryer. During our covid lock downs when all our takeaway places were shutdown The Tegal takeouts were sold-out across the whole country.

Hey Grego. Try spraying with with that spray oil in a can before air frying. Might help make it more golden.

I saw a kfc style recipe and he cooked it with 2 tbsp of oil and sprayed the top with olive oil spray came out really good colour no basket so more roasted interesting will try it thanks Geggo

Tried the Nashvillle last week because it was on special at $7. Not bad, but only had 5 pieces so wouldn't have got it at full price.

Greggo you've got to try Deep South Chicken in Upper Coomera/Oxenford. A true authentic southern chicken with the most juicy, soft chicken inside a crispy, crunchy coating. It leaves KFC and whatever this is, in the mud.
We just look for Southern Style crumbed chicken pieces from Coles or Aldi. Most supermarkets sell it now.
The burger Pattie ones are delicious

As something you can take out of the freezer quickly these are ideal although I buy the burgers not the pieces and I wait to Woolworths reduce to $7 every second week. Brilliant burgers .

They Sell fresh country fried chicken pieces in fridge section at aldi i think its 1.5kgs 8 or 9 pieces for around 12bucks i think...
I freeze it all the time 2 pieces in a freezer bag....

The Nashville one is good.. A bit like hot and spicy. I've bought these heaps and only had the issue with the black/brown stuff the last time I got them. The chicken seemed to be lower quality than the previous batches
