No idea of the origins of this song, but as someone who's weirdly infatuated with this character, you put into words a lot of things I like about him and I really like your analysis. Plus this is a very enjoyable music video, to boot. The song fits him well.
Thanks! I think my description was little bit too hasty though eheh. I think I was in a ranting mood while typing it. For some reason, I also oddly adore this character. I guess it's probably because they went full-on SatAM and Archie comics on Forces, two parts of the franchise I highly enjoy.
I never saw much of either series, and I think it's the generally darker tones with some even relatable themes in the writing. While I agree with pretty much all of your analysis, I would argue that Infinite *did not* actually work for his power. He worked for his strength, to become the "ultimate mercenary", but it was meaningless in the end. In that moment where Shadow destroyed him, he saw only two kinds of people: the weak and the strong. Power became all that mattered to him. And so his existence became no less empty when he picked up the mask, with Sonic alluding to his loneliness (albeit perhaps as a shot in the dark), but he seems to have embraced nihilism on a personal level. Shadow's very own obsession with power is what made Infinite - Infinite is in some ways a twisted mirror image, as well as his own being. I'm personally very enamoured with the fact that Shadow's "hmph, pathetic" routine and his unhealthy ideologies have now had demonstrable consequences in the Sonic universe. Something something evil begets evil, something something darkness begets darkness. Glad to see I'm not the only one with an inexplicable fascination with the guy! Well, he has quite the fan club, but still.
La Puerta True, I can see your point. But what I meant about Infinite working for his power was that he didn't just stay there and get all depressed after Shadow kicked his ass. He was still determined to get more power.
Good point, and I love that about Infinite. His ambition. As for the division on Infinite, yup, that's very true. I can certainly see why people would find him lacking, since Sonic Forces' narrative did not convey what we're suggesting: but the beauty of writing is that when you give your characters human qualities, they can be analysed in a very human way, even where the writers did not necessarily consciously plan it out. What does frustrate me, though, is the whole "oh no he's edgy" thing. As if we, people living at home on the internet, expect people in genuinely stressful universes to take these games they're living in only about as seriously as we would personally feel inclined to.

I read your description, and YESSSS! Finally someone who sees it. Infinite did what he did for more reasons than Shadow calling him weak. He lost everything, his team which was probably like family, and his reputation he worked for his whole life. THANK YOU FOR THIS! ❤️
YES! Infinite NEEDS A COME BACK!!! I hope SEGA listens to those two letters that I wrote about Infinite become an anti-hero or a good guy! I told them DON'T KILL HIM OFF THE FRANCHISE! They better listen to our pleas about this... THEY BETTER! (I'm calm).
Thank you for making this video. I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows what happened to Infinite and why he did all those things. Everyday (i know that's crazy) I think about Infinite and his squad getting beaten by Shadow. I already knew what happened to him and his squad before I saw this video (heck I felt bad for him when I heard him say: "friends are nothing but a fleeting illusion you can count on nobody but yourself." And this was before what officially happened to him was released) but this made me feel even more empathy for him. So... Thank you... For literally and figuratively opening peoples eyes. You really made my heart fly.
I'm still thinking maybe the reason why his jackal squad meant so much is that maybe his whole life was a war in his childhood, and after years when his squad were the only Jackals left, perhaps it's what keeps them close to them, I mean look in Sally's family side or someone like Tails there are many species like them even though Tails is the only one with unique two tails, but maybe Infinite lost his whole family in his childhood that maybe he wanted to assure the survival of the Jackal species of him and his squad, and perhaps by being humiliated and defeated by Shadow made him realise something that like...maybe he has flashbacks of everything he lost, his pride and his squad, leaving him probably the only Jackal left of the Sonic franchise who knows? Pretty sure it's the kind of pain he felt losing everything after working so hard with combat trainings, i mean why else he would create a war and makes people fearing him by killing those they were close with?
Emem But we still gotta wait and see, after all we even still have the comics of IDW that takes place after the events of Sonic Forces, who knows if we might find some strange clues about Infinite and his past?
Emem Me too and i wonder what will happen if Infinite meets up with Neo Metal Sonic cuz in case if you didn't read the current issues.... SPOILERS! Eggman is now one of the good guys known as Mr Tinker, and the evil Eggman turns out to be an imposter as it was Neo Metal Sonic and attempts to conquer the world even as Eggman, And yet interestingly, he was suppose to make to the Final Battle by fighting alongside with Eggman and Infinite!

Tempest and Infinite has many same things going on with them.
I dont even have to explain it. Holy crap. I actually really love these two.
Yeah, they are my favorite villains
You wanna know what makes Shadow killing the Jackal Squad *even worse?*
I heard that some of those members of the squad were Infinite's siblings.....

That's a wonderful headcanon, though I'm not sure if that's the case.

Hmm well I have two things to say: this UA-camr is familiar and two this music is suitable for infinite
Omaigad😱😱😱😱😱
Why do people keep thinking shadow killed the jackal squad we know shadow he wouldn't kill if he did sonic would probably be pissed off as f***
Sonic doesn't even know about what happened, and frankly Shadow almost murdered Sonic in his one-shot game so the circumstances are too possible.
