    If you change the length of the heating element, (the exposed graphite of the pencil) will that change the maximum temperature it can reach. Assuming all else is the same, DC adapter Voltage and maximum amperes, etc .
    And how hot will your little soldering iron get?

    • @DIYmr.T
      @DIYmr.T  2 місяці тому

      With a longer graphite segment, resistance increases. If the current remains the same (since the power source is unchanged), the power (and thus heat) produced decreases. The soldering iron will not get as hot.

    This is a soldering iron not a welder. You need much more heat for welding.

    • @DIYmr.T
      @DIYmr.T  26 днів тому

      Thank you for pointing that out! You're absolutely right-soldering irons work well for joining small electrical components but don't generate the heat needed for welding metals. Welding requires much higher temperatures, often from tools like arc welders or torches, depending on the method. This clarification helps viewers understand the difference between the two processes. 😊

      Thanks for pointing that out! You're right-there's an important difference between soldering and welding. Welding involves melting the base metals to join them, while soldering uses a filler metal to bond materials without melting the base. If I mixed up the terms, I appreciate the correction!
