You beat a lot of odds when you're able to migrate to the US through this process. All 3 people I know who won this immigration lottery said they cried when they found out they won. It is an extensive process once you've been picked and not everyone who is picked gets through. But it's worth applying. If you win, it's life changing.

That hurt to watch because right off the bat, I knew all of them would be denied. As an American, I feel I personally take my legal status for granted. It's a sad truth. Each of these 3 individuals from 3 different countries seem to be model citizens making their way thru life. It's unfair that they cant be given the proper opportunity to flourish and become citizens of this nation.

I applied for straight 11 year and didn't win, and on the other hand my husband won at first attempt. Also my brother's wife won on their 4th attempt. So it really is your luck!
And also they don't say a crucial thing - there is a lottery inside of the lottery! So if you win you randomly get a case number, which will determine your order in the interview schedule. If this case number is one of the latest it is possible you will never be invited to the interview, because all the visas have been taken before you. Just imagine how these people must feel...
It feels awful... cried when we realized we got selected, then cried harder when we realized that it means nothing because of the crazy high case number 😩😢
I won in 2003, moved from Kenya to US, went to college, graduated, after 5 years became US citizen -since one can after that period of time subject to good standing with the law, got a fantastic good paying job in US. But i used to miss my native Kenya so much that i used to came back like twice a year! In 2015 i decided to relocate back to Kenya. Yes DV gave me great opportunity, the notion that its a retarded system is not true, some even end up forfeiting it after short stint in US. I personally know someone in Kenya who won it - good friend of mine - but never went ahead with further processing after exploring what it means to relocate his family from Kenya to US.
Bhaskar...Kenya is fine - for me at least, its where am born and raised up, so even in the midst of challenges, am able to navigate and cope. When i worked in US i used to save almost 90% of my earnings from my main plum job, but on weekends i would do some gigs which earned me more money which i used for my rent & upkeep. So when i moved back, i had some capital so i set my own businesses, therefore am own boss. Perfect for me, cant ask for more, gives me time to do whatever i want like annually visiting US since am dual citizen.
Yep, owning a business is the best thing to do, especially in developing countries and it's cool your a dual citizen now. really is a benefit as im a dual citizen if usa and india as well. goodluck on your future work!

But bravo, I commend you on your decision to go back home and put some well thought of effort in developing the country. I'm currently in the States pursuing higher education with a F1 Visa. Godspeed
I also won the DV Lottery. What this video does NOT EXPLAIN is that once you have been selected for futher processing, it's still a VERY LONG ROAD to your Green Card. You must hope to have a low case number because 100,000 people get notified for further processing but there are just 50,000 Green Cards available. In countries like Germany there are only around 450 people who actually end up getting one, because that's their quota. Then you still have to get an interview appointment before end of the fiscal year and still pass the interview! It's long and emotionally challenging.
@@littlebean7764 well yes you need to have a certain mentality to move to the US. This is not your social welfare state that Germany has become. Yes but also romatizices the american dream everyday Americans are struggling and people just say work harder quit being lazy when people are giving it their all to get by. Being born here gives us so many apportinitues yet so many obstacles to achieve anything. We have one of the most powerful passport available 187 countries we can visit visa free but people can't even afford to leave their home state. We have one of the greatest schools yet we can afford it. We can afford to go to the doctors or miss work because people's jobs don't offer pay sick days (pto) or vacation hrs. How is that even an apportunity? And we're born here.
My parents were applying for several years before my birth, but neither of those attempts were successful. I wonder how different my life could’ve been if I was born in US compared to the life I have in Russia. Now me and my husband are going to apply for the first time. Wish us luck. Hopefully our future children won’t have to go through all the s//it we had to.
I should add that IF you are lucky to win, there are extensive interviews with the embassy. A family needs to meet certain educational, financial & health requirements before they are actually granted visas. You also need to have proof of knowing somebody reliable in the US who can ‘house’ you for a while until you’re able to navigate the system by yourself. Then, once in the US, you must obtain a job and be an upstanding citizen. Only after 5 years of lawful living you can apply for citizenship/naturalization - another extensive process where they evaluate your profession, education, and CHARACTER before deeming you eligible for naturalization.

One of the most valuable lotteries in the world? Have they not heard of Powerball or Euromillions or El Gordo? Maybe Im wrong but is there anyone here that would prefer a green card to 120 million USD?
I am English, I cant enter this type of lottery for a green card unfortunately as the UK is not one of the eligible nations to apply for this, however I really love the United States, and its way of life, the only realistic way, I could ever move to the US, is with sponsorship from an employer on US Soil.. or somehow hopefully meet the girl of my dreams who happens to be a nice American and we get Married... those are the two likeliest options, the THIRD is only possible If I have enough wealth, to create a business in the US, which will employ enough Americans, then they would let me in.. so yeah one way or the other I would choose to go to the US, even if I am not a millionaire, Its a great country full of FREEDOM and nice scenery so yeah I would prefer a Green card in the hopes of having one day US Citizenship.. you have no idea how good it would be to have that passport for me.
I'll give you an example, a very rich Chinese businessman who doesn't care about money because he has enough. Getting a green card will guarantee his safety. So he will choose green card over the money
I got my green card through the diversity visa lottery. The actual odds depend on which country you're applying from. There are a greater proportion of visas allocated to some regions compared to the number of applicants. For example, New Zealand has an oversized representation. So the odds for a New Zealander are much better than 0.25%. I have met quite a few people now who received their green card through the DV lottery.

I know of 4 moroccans who won. One decided not to come after all and I think that's horrible to take that opportunity from another person. it is a heartbreaking situation, i have been applying for 7 straight years but luck hasn't been on my side.i hear about alot of people who win the lottery annually from my country" sudan" and almost all those who win it are the fortunated ones who have everything in life that i could only dream off " a nice home, a beautiful car and a rich loving family" .the rich ones who basically don't necessarily need to win. but that is life, it gives some people more than they need and deserve and denies those who really in need, people like me who have bnothing and been dreaming of winning the lottery since 2012.i basically built all my hopes and dreams on winning the lottery.but every time i check my status and see the rejection message,it breaks my heart and makes me lose hope. the first 3 years were the hardest but then you get used to being told "you haven't been selected" every year and it starts to feel normal.i no longer expect to win, and certainly i'm no longer building my hopes and dreams on winning the lottery; my dreams are not that big in fact they are not dreams at all, because all i ever want is a decent life, and somehow i could fillful that dream by traveling abroad to one of nearby arabic golf countries and within 3-4 years i could realize that dream but even that too is not easy as i have been trying to find a job broad since 2013 " i guess i really have a terrible luck at everything" .anyway winning the lottery will still be my big dream but i'm not gonna stop my life waiting for that distant dream to become a reality one day.instead i'm gonna keep looking for an opportunity of a job abroad.
Itss never the end of life....don't kill your dreams at all, keep them in your book of records ...Pray, believe and trust in God and most of all Patience! All will be well😇

It's not impossible or "unwinnable". It's a lottery, so not everyone who applies will win. I have 2 family members who won this lottery and 1 family friend who also won this lottery. You beat a lot of odds when you're able to migrate to the US through this process. All 3 people I know who won this immigration lottery said they cried when they found out they won.
How's Kenya for you now? you must a great job since you have international experience.
DAVIS MATE haha, nice one budah boss, if only our universities back at Kenya would be half as credible as the ones over here, then the nation would have been at a much better place not only economically, but also infrastructure wise. But bravo, I commend you on your decision to go back home and put some well thought of effort in developing the country. I'm currently in the States pursuing higher education with a F1 Visa. Godspeed
Bhaskar..same to you buddy!

This video had emphasized of how lucky I am and that I have to take full advantage of all the opportunities to become GREAT !!!!
Seeing this small glimpse into people lives like this, it really reassures me to not take being born in the U.S for granted.
Poverty, which I’m still trying to get out of, several major crises, political persecutions, and now the war… crazy to imagine I could’ve never experienced all this.
Now me and my husband are going to apply for the first time. Wish us luck. Hopefully our future children won’t have to go through all the s//it we had to.
Good luck to you both
poverty is a mindset
if you come to the us u would be just as poor or even poorer since cost of living is much higher in the us
I should add that IF you are lucky to win, there are extensive interviews with the embassy.

With 500,000$ you buy a green card 🤷🏽♂️
I'll give you an example, a very rich Chinese businessman who doesn't care about money because he has enough. Getting a green card will guarantee his safety. So he will choose green card over the money
If you won one of those, you could buy your way into the U.S. via starting a business or EB-5 visa
Non Stop dude, you know that you can enter the US visa free, right?

There are a greater proportion of visas allocated to some regions compared to the number of applicants. For example, New Zealand has an oversized representation. So the odds for a New Zealander are much better than 0.25%. I have met quite a few people now who received their green card through the DV lottery.
Mike Sutherland
That's sadly true. We live in a racist world.
Hi there Mike, if I were born in Afghanistan but am a German citizen, do you think I'd have a chance at all? ... and can you tell me which website you used exactly to apply? I'm a little afraid of fraudulent websites. Congratulations on winning the green card lottery, friend.
My brother just won the lottery, I didn't know what it was now I am looking through these videos and realise how lucky my brother is. I hope I will be able to go to the us with my family soon. From Uzbekistan
yes your brother is very very lucky
I’m from Romania and I won with my first try 🤷🏻♂️
Really???
Lucky bastard!
Norocosul drq :)))
I know of 4 moroccans who won. One decided not to come after all and I think that's horrible to take that opportunity from another person. I think people need to be serious and have their money to move here in case they win. 50000 people win..not just one. So may the odds forever be in your favor. And there are many other ways to get here. So keep achieving your dreams.
Why? All of these people are from top countries.
she was from france wich is a really nice country and he other girl from russia wich is low cost of living and the other guy from ghana wich ghana sucks
Ghana is a pretty good country if you're talking Africa.
caz US is just that good
Tony Soza Ghana is a cool country
This guy is a joker
Yeah Ghana is one of the best countries in Africa.
Im 15, my parents have been applying every year for the past 6 years. we applied again today, hopefully we win as it my goal is to become a surgeon in the usa.
I was fortunate to win in 2012. The result was out in 2013. I tried twice and the second time I was successful. It was just grace.
did u apply at the beginning or end?
I won Green Card at third time of applying back to back, currently living in US. Good luck to everyone
did u apply at beginning,Middle or end?
Close to the end...
This is how me and my whole family are here from Europe. We won green cards
I applied every year, gave up, and then got a L1 visa through my job which allowed me to qualify for a green-card. It can happen, but it was sheer luck and timing.
There is "almost" no requirement to apply, but after they win, winners go thru rigorous screen process, and interview before they are granted a green card. winning does not mean, a automatic green card.
Im From Somalia 🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴 i wished one fo the day To winners if allah say

I don't know if I'm lucky or unlucky to be an American.
Hulagu unlucky
Youre pretty lucky
Hulagu you're lucky af. Gain some perspective you ever been to China cause I have, we had body guards on us at all times and they told us to never leave their sight cause people will kill you if they see you have money.
where in China is this? I lived in Ghuagzhou for 4 years and never had that kind of treatment. I call bullshit.
Travel and find out ;)
Fun fact vice news. My mother and father (separately) both won the lottery this year. The four of us as a family could and very much would go since we had been registering for 6 consecutive years. We were really excited at first. We're from Iran. Trump issued a travel ban. I'm facing my military service whilst working as a developer. Thanks for reading, long live peace ✌️
As an American, I've been looking at leaving the US. It's been a HARD and miserable life here. I hope everyone that comes here has a better experience because I'm literally on my last leg with this country 🥺🥺 Good luck everyone 👏☺️
Why do you want to leave ?
@@rogerorio912 because of exactly what I've said. It's been hard and miserable 😩
@@BotsdoitbetterAre you still in the US?
hard in what way?
Students who are in undergrad or grad school who can prove themselves valuable in our academic and business institutions should be on the fast track to citizenship. They shouldn’t have to participate in a lottery. They clearly care enough, and they could make our country a lot stronger.
I was one of the people who applied and won in the year of 2018. Four years in the states so far. It is a life changer. Just keep trying and best of luck for everyone !
Do you think maybe you would have a better life were you came from ? Why US ?
I'm from Kenya and I won the green lottery in 1996 whilst I was already living in the US
I tried playing 3 times now and am not selected
@@glockaine770 Me too, All members of my family applied for it. We all weren't selected.
These people still have a better chance than me winning the Powerball.
And the are still complaining..
Yes, the nature of any lottery is exactly that, nearly unwinnable.
I read a book written by a Japanese military veteran who got his green card from this program and served in US marines(03 series MOS),and deployed to Iraq 2 times then honorable discharged from military and made his own company.
Maybe man/woman like him is the benefit of this program?
To Jesus Christ be the glory and honor for ever and ever amen.
All lotteries are almost unwinnable. Thats the business model of the lottery, thats the only way it can be sustained.
I've tried 11 times in a row from a country with very high chances of winning it. I've seen that "has not been selected" message in bold 11 times and I know how it feels.
what country? I'm from New Zealand and applying end this year for the first time
Entry by pure randomness? How could this be a good system? You should be allowed in if you have required skills and can speak english.
read the requirements from the official website and you'll understand that you'll need to have at least 12 years of education or 2 full years of experience in a field so yeah
soukighan but English is not the requirement. Only 12 years of education equivalent to US high school OR work for 2 years qualifying from the list of the job that they posted.
Yup. That's how US favors illegals, unskilled cheap labors over skilled immigrants from India
Is not random , they check your degrees and skills before , if they need you , you win if not you don’t . People with it and medical degrees have more chances to win then other people. Good luck to everyone 👍
@@UltrasiSteaua47 oh that's why I see plenty of taxi drivers from eastern Europe and Africa in NYC on diversity lottery
I'm from Ghana. I won in 2010....I never believed this lottery until i won. The feeling was incredible especially when i went through the interview with success.....Currently in Texas....Loving Life!
it is a heartbreaking situation, i have been applying for 7 straight years but luck hasn't been on my side.i hear about alot of people who win the lottery annually from my country" sudan" and almost all those who win it are the fortunated ones who have everything in life that i could only dream off " a nice home, a beautiful car and a rich loving family" .the rich ones who basically don't necessarily need to win. but that is life, it gives some people more than they need and deserve and denies those who really in need, people like me who have bnothing and been dreaming of winning the lottery since 2012.i basically built all my hopes and dreams on winning the lottery.but every time i check my status and see the rejection message,it breaks my heart and makes me lose hope. the first 3 years were the hardest but then you get used to being told "you haven't been selected" every year and it starts to feel normal.i no longer expect to win, and certainly i'm no longer building my hopes and dreams on winning the lottery; my dreams are not that big in fact they are not dreams at all, because all i ever want is a decent life, and somehow i could fillful that dream by traveling abroad to one of nearby arabic golf countries and within 3-4 years i could realize that dream but even that too is not easy as i have been trying to find a job broad since 2013 " i guess i really have a terrible luck at everything" .anyway winning the lottery will still be my big dream but i'm not gonna stop my life waiting for that distant dream to become a reality one day.instead i'm gonna keep looking for an opportunity of a job abroad.
Itss never the end of life....don't kill your dreams at all, keep them in your book of records ...Pray, believe and trust in God and most of all Patience! All will be well😇
I came to USA 8 years ago by wining DV. All I want to say is this process works very well.
If you are extremely lucky, your percent of winning os 0.2 ffs
@@mohamedade3449 African countries have the lowest luck, and European countries have the highest luck. Don't you see something wrong with DV?

"Lottery is basically unsinkable"
Well no sht it's a fcking Lottery🤦
But their chances are better compared to the Lottery for 💰.
I’m SO curious to know if this is truly a lottery (chosen at random) or are they are vetting and eliminating certain applicants behind the scenes
"us education is second to none" That might be a reasonable assumption coming from Ghana. But not if coming from Singapore, Japan, Hong kong, Macao, Taiwan, South korea, Switzerland, Estonia, Canada, Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Slovenia, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Norway, Austria, New zealand, United kingdom, Czech rep, Italy, or Vietnam even.
Why?
US education is second to none, at least their universities
