ABOUT ME: Hallo, Servus, and welcome to my channel! My name is Felicia (Feli), I'm 26, and I'm a German living in the USA! I was born and raised in Munich, Germany but have been living in Cincinnati, Ohio off and on since 2016. I first came here for an exchange semester during my undergrad at LMU Munich, then I returned for an internship, and then I got my master's degree in Cincinnati. I was lucky enough to win the Green Card lottery and have been a permanent resident since 2019! In my videos, I talk about cultural differences between America and Germany, things I like and dislike about living here, and other experiences that I have made during my time in the States. Let me know what YOU would like to hear about in the comments below. DANKE :)

My friend from Czech Republic also won the Green Card Lottery. She is a citizen now. Welcome to the States.
Would that friend like to start making videos similar to Feli's? Perhaps in Czech with English subtitles.
Myrtone No. They need to speak English, assimilate, and making videos would be good for practicing speaking English.
@@untamedpandasweg8986 First of all, the 'States is not England. As soon as Czechs leave their own country, they must cope with another language being spoken - Slovakia being the nearest thing to an exception.
If she intends to reach her home audience, she probably should reach them in her own language.
Nobody “needs” to do that. It might be relatively ideal, but people are free to adopt whatever degree of American culture or English language they want. Welcome to America. ;)
@@willsofer3679 And if she makes videos for both her home audience and a foreign audience, she has two options, one is making videos in her own language with English subtitles. The other is making separate videos for her Slavic audience and audience outside Slavic circles, her videos in Czech being captioned in various other Slavic languages to ensure that other Slavs can understand her Czech content.
Plenty of Poles can understand Czech and Slovak without actually speaking either of them, so they could be the ones adding Polish subtitles.
As a former Green Card Holder and now Proud American Citizen- US Air Force veteran- welcome to your new home.
Glad you're here Jon. Thank you for your service
Same for me! Glad to have you here. Thanks for your service. I was drafted in 1968 - not a good time for such! But I survived!
how hard was it to join the Air Force after winning the lottery?
@@sergesieniejo1 No Green Card Lottery, immigrated when I was a child with my family 1970s. Joined USAF 2 months after High School graduation, wasn't even 18, had to have my parents written permission. No problems enlisting with valid Green Card other than prohibited from Specific Codes (Jobs) that require US Citizenship.
Aim High MFs! (Soon to be retired USAF lol)
She has a masters degree obtained at US universities and would clearly be a benefit to the country. She should be allowed to stay and work in the US without a 1% chance lottery. That's why the lottery is criticized.
She is definitely welcome here but I think the reason the lottery process is criticized is that despite the background checks, etc. there are still a significant number of people that become a drain on society and not a productive member.
@@jimconnole6328 exactly why i would prefer a system based on points like Canada were we get the best people. in a system like that she would be in.
I thought the Trump admin got rid of the lottery system?
@@etorawa9367 a brief synopsis: woman.forumdaily.com/en/lotereyu-grin-kart-mogut-otmenit-administraciya-trampa-razrabatyvaet-novye-pravila-immigracii/
"Kouchner's plan was to increase skills-oriented immigration and reduce family migration. It was planned to take about the same number of legal immigrants every year."
No. There’s a lot of misinformation about that. He’s reduced the number of immigrants that can be awarded a visa from certain countries. He’s actually fulfilled very little of what he promised to do, whether in terms of immigration or other policies. He’s also passed an executive order affecting overseas children of military service members, I believe.
We’re lucky to have you here. Viel vergnügen. Herzlichen willkommen.
Congratulations!!!! Glad to have you here permanently!!
your happiness is really contagious, I was in a bad mood when I started watching this and finished the video smiling.
Congratulations, Felicia! I’m a UC student too (Anthropology and Classical Civilization), and I think I’ve seen you in passing a couple of times (felt a bit weird saying hello and saying “I saw you on UA-cam that one time),”, but I’m glad you qualified, and are on the path to either continued permanent residency or even citizenship. You’re a net-benefit to the U.S., and obviously a decent person. Welcome!

Congratulations, Felicia. I'm a bit late but welcome! I am thrilled to have you with us. Stay as long as you like! 🤗
Congrats and I hope you enjoy your time here, for however long it is!
Congratulations sweetie! Nice to see your dreams coming true. Just the beginning is getting here. Now the real journey begins...! Good luck & God bless!!
Congratulations. Thats great news. Personally, I think that the USA won the lottery as you're obviously intelligent,educated,well-mannered and hardworking. In addition, your English is phenomenal. So...it's a win-win!!👍😀

I saw a comment of Monalisa Tinsley on the internet saying that there is a priest who help win the lottery from Africa, The first question i ask my self was why will he say this on the internet!!! because to me it was ridiculous to let people know about such secret. But i am a person who believe in spiritual powers because i have seen it work when i visited India years back. All i did was to give a try and truly i won $22 Million jackpot and my life has changed since i became a winner. I promise the priest that i will tell the whole world about him because he brought me out of bankrupt. I cant give the world money but i can give people a good advise to contact this good man for lottery help. His whatsapp number is +2348163083041 and his email address is templeofpermanenthealings@gmail. com
I know I'm late to the party, but just the same, "Congratulations Felicia!" I just found out about your channel, and I've been binge-watching your videos. Your English is remarkable, much better than mine, and I grew up here. I wish you all the best in your endeavors.

Welcome to USA. The process is a bit of a pain, BUT WOTH IT ALL THE WAY. My family went throught it all 20 years ago and we have been on the states for 19 already. Congratulations
Especially the blood test, one drop of blood should be enough.
Plan on becoming a citizen sometimes soon ?!?
Congratulations! So happy for you!
Congratulations, Feli!!! With your education and enthusiasm, you're an asset to the U.S.!!
Tell all of your equally capable and talented friends in Germany to come on over!!!
I am so glad to hear this. Congratulations! As an American citizen, I welcome you here with open arms.
Congratulations! Well done & welcome to the neighborhood (I'm a couple hours south in Louisville). You're right, getting permanent residency is a big deal - as you said, a lot more freedom. Wish you all the best for however long you choose to stay/live here. A sharp young lady such as yourself should find plenty of opportunities and will certainly make for an exciting time of your life.
I’m very proud for you I’m a Texan and I’m glad to say welcome to the United States

Another one in College Station!
And another one from Central Texas !

It's been a while since I last checked in on you and your American Adventure. Congratulations! A Green Card is like gold; treat it that way.
Just started watching your channel this week. Extremely happy for you!
Congratulations glad to have you here for however long you want to stay
This is so awesome you just have to stay :) You seem like such a sweetie. Have been a subscriber for a while and like listening to you and your lighthearted videos talking about social things and so on. Your smile is the best
Congratulations, you will be a great asset to our country. I won green card lottery 24 years ago when I was around your age and the process and requirements haven't changed at all. In the meantime I got to know many others who won this lottery and noticed all of them are very smart or highly educated and very successful. I am sure you will excel in this great country. Welcome to the USA.
I enjoyed your talk today. It's great that it all worked out and you made it to the states. I'll speak for many... We're glad you are here.
Congrats. My mother came to the US when she was 17, she is from Schwäbisch Gmünd. Enjoy your next steps in your life here.
How did she get there did she fly alone? Arent you allowed to fly alone under 18?
@@uussaa1461 I mother was able to stay in the US because she was given a NATO Visa and worked at the German Military Consulate (she worked as a secretary for the Luftwaffe) in D.C.. And she stayed at her Aunt's home, my Great Aunt, who was a teacher at the Grundschule for the Austrian and German Embassies.
@@Ospery157lucky i have no family or friends with ties to the us but i wanna move there so bad
@@uussaa1461 I'd say so as well because as she told me at that time (1961) there was a housing shortage in Germany. It was her, her brother, and their parents all living in a one-bedroom apartment. If you're serious try to look for a position from a US-based company that is willing a sponsor you. Explores the areas you're thinking of moving to. You never know what will happen. I never thought I'd be living where I'm currently at (Denver, Colorado). This all happened with one of my former employers going bankrupt while I was there (in a depressing part of Eastern Iowa) and I decided then it was time to leave now.
I had that same interview in Frankfurt in 1968 and it was the second most important event in my life. (the first one was that I was born). Welcome to our America.
Congratulations and welcome. I hope you get to visit more of America in the coming years. Our family had a wonderful time a few years ago in Munich & Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We can’t wait until our next visit to Germany. You picked a great area to live since we live in Lexington, KY.
A sincere congratulations! Sounds like things fell nicely into place for you.
Congratulations! That seems like a lot of work to go through and it reminds me that I sometimes take it for granted that I did it the easy way by being born in Cincinnati.
Congrats! That's huge!
I have a friend who moved here with his family as a child from Mexico, and it took forever for him to get his citizenship. I think he moved here around 3 or 4 years old, and it took until around when he was about 19 before he finally was able to become a citizen.
Welcome, you are a real American as you are following your dream adventures . I left Germany in 1989, and my life has been unbelievable ever since. All the best luck to you. America is the greatest country in the world. God bless America.
Congratulations, Feli... and Welcome!! ❤👍🏼😀

Congratulations! You make any place you go better so we're very glad to have you in the US. 😎
So happy for you. I am glad you are here.
I applied lottery this year with my family. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
A lot of people feel the Americans are real assholes and we don't want anybody from outside coming here. That's what this country is made of and we're not like that at all. What we get angry about is when you sneak in and do it illegally and then work under the table and you don't contribute to our fine country apply for the papers do it the right way come here and be productive don't be an asshole contribute in some way and we absolutely love to have you regardless of where you're from
good luck.
Good luck and wish you the best.
How silly you are....European are too much better than American, and Europe pay better than us
Abdelali Lamoune how silly you are to assume that I’m from Europe. 😆

She's not a citizen -- yet. She won the green card lottery and has permanent residency.
I'm happy for you. You look excited, and your English is great! Welcome!
Congrats! That's how I got to the USA as well. Canadians are not eligible but I was born in Germany, haha, so that made it legal. My wife and I had been playing the green card lottery for years until she won! It was much easier than you described in the late 90's, but I still had to prove I would not be public charge. I got a job offer in Boston from a security company that took care of that. They didn't care about how much money we had, and didn't have to show 10,000.00 in our bank.
It was a very exciting time and a new journey for us.
Congratulations! It’s awesome that you got this opportunity
Congratulations and welcome aboard. It's good to have you here.
Welcome to SW Ohio. I am a native Cincinnatian and have enjoyed your videos. I currently live in West Chester with my wife and cat, my son is currently attending college in Michigan. God bless you.
My wife sponsored an Albanian family in the mid 90's. They got their citizenship(s) and are doing well. It was originally a couple and 2 children, now they have grandchildren and are doing great!
Congratulations! Welcome to America! This country is fortunate to have you! 🇺🇸

Congrats Felicia!
Congrats and welcome to US!! I am glad you put in the effort to do the correct way.
Yes...meaning thanks for not coming from a war torn country and being white, just they way we like our immigrants.
Congratulations young miss! I wish you all the success in your future!
We're lucky to have you.I don't like the concept of a lottery but I'm glad you won.
I wish you happiness and success with your American dream, young lady. I love your enthusiasm for life. I once spent a week in Munich and found it to be a beautiful city. I probably don't have to tell you Munich and Cincinnati are considered sister cities. My paternal grandparents came here from Russia in 1905 and my maternal grandparents from Wales and Norway around the same time. We are all immigrants or descendants of immigrants.
I'm really happy for you! Hope you stay as long as you like!
This is such fantastic information and, unfortunately, not widely known by Americans. Thank you so much for sharing the nitty-gritty details of everything you had to go through in order to get over here. And welcome to you and every single person who endures this process.
Good for you! Also, I find it funny how you can talk about the US vs Germany so many times. I'm American and I would get bored talking about America pretty fast lolol
Congratulations and welcome.

Welcome to the U.S! Congratulations, we need more people like you 😉🇺🇸
If your country needs more people like her, you need to get rid of the 2nd amendment and need tighter gun laws *nationwide*, gun laws like those of neighbouring Canada.
A belated congratulations! Great video!
I just want to say that I spent a total of eight and a half years in Europe. Six and a half years in Germany. I love the German culture. I was in military. I was stationed in Darmstadt, Ashaffenburg, and Kaiserslautern. My son was born in Landstuhl. I also spent two years in Italy. My daughter was born in Italy. My cousin was stationed in Augsburg which is close to München. You being from Germany made it all three more intriguing for me to subscribe to your UA-cam channel.
Congratulations and welcome :)

Congratulations! It’s interesting that they screen for TB, I wouldn’t have expected that.
That's what they did in the early days when immigrants had to be processed through Ellis Island.
@@rashone2879 Absolutely, it certainly made sense back then. But for a modern EU citizen I wouldn’t think TB would even be on the radar. But I guess the rules are probably uniform across all green card applicants, and I guess TB could be a concern from other countries. It’s just something I’d not have guessed!
Then again, even Feli can't say why someone already legally in the 'States, say on Optional Practical training, needs to do the examination.
