Hey everyone!
Hope you enjoy this performance of the second Metallica cover I ever wrote - One.
This one is back from 2013 and since the original video quality of my first video is quite bad, this definitely deserved a remake in 4K.
Still one of my most exhausting covers, at least the final 3 minutes.

Please forgive my complete lack of ignorance, I absolutely LOVE Metallica, but know anything about music, are you only playing notes copied from the song, or are you also playing the spoken words as if they were notes?
Hi! Thanks for asking :) I try to keep my covers as close to the original as possible. So what I do is to buy the original score, use existing patterns, add my own style where it is needed and remove unplayable parts (like some drums parts). The voice melody is always included when I write a Metallica cover.
So it is not just copying the original lines since it would sound super boring on the piano (but great in a band). If possible, I try to make the covers at least a bit virtuosic/advanced.

To be honest, I have never heard a better cover of Metallica on piano. The only downside of the instrument is, that there is no way to really get the feel of the distorted guitars in there. Wish that would be possible. Brilliant playing!

It would be possible to do distortion sounds with a keyboard tho' :-)

Not coming close, in my opinion. I have tried several sounds on different keyboards, never been convinced.

I just found your channel after looking up the For Whom the Bell Tolls thinking "man that would sound good on piano." Now this has to be my favorite rendition on One ever done, even moreso than the origonal by metallica. Alice and Chains is another band I'd love to see you shred on piano, especially "Would?" by them.

4:42 playing E in the left hand instead of C makes it sound more like the original if anyone was wondering
That's how I did it originally. I thought it was too boring and the C can make stronger and more sudden jump in the next section of the song. Thanks for your feedback!
