Truth or Consequences, NM was originally named Hot Springs, NM. In fact, the local high school is still named Hot Springs HS. The popular game show "Truth or Consequences" held a contest where they would air the show from the first town to change their name to "Truth or Consequences" Hot Springs officially changed its name on March 31, 1950, and the program was broadcast from there the following evening.
Cool views of the cockpit instrumentation. They've come a long way from the rows of analog dials. Interior looks comfy, but it seems a bit odd that some seats face rearward. For all of the people who complain about Amtrak not being "profitable", how many of them realize that the Federal Government subsidizes these isolated EAS routes up to $200 per passenger (more in certain exceptional instances)?
New Mexico is incredible. Great food and culture. And the high desert and Rocky Mountains around Santa Fe and Taos should be on every bucket list. Silver City is surrounded by the massive Gila National Forest, which is where Gerinamo was born.
If you ever watched the movie “Rat Race” from the early 2000s, the basic premise is a race from Las Vegas to Silver City, NM. Interesting flights, wow!

When I first started flying my Cessna 150 I made a lot of touch and goes in Phoenix Sky Harbor now days no more touch and goes too busy there. Love to fly in the smaller planes like that will have to do it soon. Planes of all kinds are magic carpets.
I worked for an airline that flew EAS flights in Montana, North Dakota & Minnesota. Some of our stations were small. You would walk out of the airport onto the small picketed fence grassy area then through the picket fence onto the tarmac. The station manager, ticket agent, person loading the freight, luggage and passengers was also the same person. Did I Mention that the all those people also ran the weather station and did weather observations. We were a full service airline.😁

Hi, Noel: Your "mardy" shirt has been an enigma for us Americans, since the word doesn't exist here. Happily, the on-line Cambridge Dictionary tells us what Mrs. P. meant by it, so thanks for expanding our vocabulary! 🙂
haha that's awesome that they pipe SiriusXM into those jacks. It must be the audio coming from the Garmin avionics, unless there's a separate SiriusXM tuner just for the passengers.
If it is anything Like Broken Hill in Australia it is a small to moderate-sized mining town in the middle of nowhere. Jet is a stretch seeing as it Beechcraft twin turboprop. Pantera by the sounds of it...
I've been pretty curious lately; how do you find out about these smaller airlines/services? I'm currently up in Grand Forks ND, and between KGFK and KTVF (serviced by delta and Key lime Air respectively) there isn't much from what I have found. Any suggestions?
I live right down the street from that hotel. Its hot as hll in Phx and I wish I live somewhere cooler but to old to go anywhere now. God Bless I love your videos.
I believe Advanced Air had a little bit of a dispute with Orange County Airport (SNA). They had put a rule in that all scheduled passenger flights had to go out of the main terminal and not the FBO that they flew from and Advanced pulled out of the airport and flies from only Hawthorne airport and Burbank in the LA area
Haha! It's taken me almost 40 years to realize I had completely miss-heard the lyrics to that Prefab Sprout song ! 🤣🤣I always thought it said "I want Cookie" Not that it's any more weird than the correct lyrics...
I think this has probably already been said a few times in the comments but I believe the story of Truth Or Consequences, NM is that the town changed it's name at the request of a game show.
Another great EAS video Noel. Been following you off and on for a while, but saw your In The Hangar episode and finally decided to subscribe. Glad I did. Got caught up on your last year or so of flying and now watching them as they release (more or less). One little note here - N575RD is not a King Air 350iER. I'm not sure why there's a couple sites listing it as such, but the 350iER is only available as a new-build aircraft from Textron and not as a retrofit or mod package. Additionally, the ER was only recently made available to non-military operators as the whole point of the aircraft was for "Special Missions". 575RD was built in 2000, but was upgraded with a Garmin G3000 suite and a new interior semi-recently. Also, the "i" models use a Rockwell/Collins ProLine avionics package, not Garmin, which is a telling feature of if you're in an "i" or just a 350 with an upgraded flight deck. I know it's kinda semantics to many, but I think learning about the differences between various similar airplanes is important because too often we get "pulled in" by marketing and end up confusing things more than we fix. In Beechcraft/Textron's case, they're pretty stingy/clear with their classifications and historically have gotten upset when people start putting marketing branding on their aircraft models that creates confusion. Blackhawk found out about this not too long ago with their modifications and have had a hard time getting approval to put their own name on the airplanes without creating a whole new Type Certificate.
Another great video promoting the diversity of aviation - it’s not all Q suites ! Reminded me a trip I was lucky enough to have between Rockhampton and Great Kepler Island where we were greeted by the captain at foot of the stairs. When I asked if there was any inflight entertainment, the reply was “There’s no tea and cookies either !” Only downside: for a nervous flyer 6 emergency exits for a max capacity of @ 20 seemed a high ratio ! Particularly as pilot and co-pilot each had their own !
