    I find it strange that the turbo hybrid isn’t available in your country on either one. Good power, quieter, and good on fuel. Well over 800km per tank. I’m also surprised that the 10 year Hyundai and Kia warranty that has been around for 20 years hasn’t been implemented either. Or the three years of maintenance included.
    Seems like the companies are holding back for your market.

      Unfortunately here in Australia we are often treated as the dumping ground and arse-end of the motoring world. Until our government gets serious about emission standards not much will change.

    If I’m just looking at the interior I’ll choose the Hyundai. You don’t feel like you’re in a base model compared to a Kia with those massive massive bezels

    In terms of looks alone I prefer the KIA. 7 years warranty is attractive as for the manual inclusion, it's a bonus for some. The Tucson is a good proposition too but needs to upgrad to 7 year warranty. Well done KIA.

    Everyone talks about sx grade to be a sweet spot in sportage range but I didn't find any video review of sx grade. Chasing Cars, would be kind enough to make a video review of it since that's the grade that most of us can afford🙂🙂🙂

    Great review! Thanks for base model comparison, just a thought that comparison should be Auto vs Auto, not Auto vs Manual IMHO.

    My Tucson has 8.3L/100 over 6,000kms. The 6 speed auto is absolutely fine. For most daily things you do, the base engine also absolutely fine. You guys must just thrash these cars to death. It’s not a sports car!

      Yes if your not flooring it you can achieve 8-9l/100 pretty easily

    Tom is quite right. Manual transmission really does make a 2L/4cyl that much better to drive. Such a shame that you can't get manual all the way up through the range these days.

    The Tucson looks striking. For me though the 1.6TDI sportage from an economy perspective wins out. The issue being Hyundai don't do the diesel hybrid and the petrol hybrid however we'll graduated/refined is not ultimately as efficient. I have long journeys followed by lots of short start / stop trips before returning home via another long journey. I'm heading towards the Kia over a Tucson, Tiguan or Karoq.

    An old 2.0 na eng in a heavy SUV what's the benefit clearly it's not fuel consumption at 11L 100k they may as well droped the V6 or at the very least the 2.5 from the sonata fuel economy would have been the same but a lot more spirited drive

    I see NA viewers seem surprised there isn’t a 10 yr warranty in Australia. Try NZ where Hyundai warranty is only 3yr/100k and even the Kia warranty is pretty poor at 5yr/100k. Even Ford and VW (those paragons of reliability *cough*) offer 5yr/unltd in the same market…

      ....they are essentially the same vehicle 🤔
      Both are good but I'd prefer the analogue speedo and tachometer.
      I also like separate controls for audio and air-conditioning.
      I certainly don't object to the Kia's overall appearance, at all. But I like both.

    NA 2.0 litre in a vehicle of this size is not a good idea. The 1.6 turbo would be much better but it comes with a DCT which in my opinion is absolutely terrible with its hesitation off the mark and jerkiness. That leaves the diesel which is connected to a proper transmission and the pick of the bunch i reckon. Thanks for the review

    Both are excellent vehicles, but that 2.0 donk needs to be put out to pasture permanently. Maybe the 1.6 T-Gdi could become the default petrol ?? Load either of these up & fuel usage in the 2.0 variants ain't gunna be pretty. But one thing to look forward to will be a big upgrade to infotainment systems over the next few months with Kia's Uvo Connnect & Hyundai's BlueLink 2 now here & expected to soon filter into mainstream models. Unfortunately current variants cannot be upgraded as the hardware & operating systems are not compatible with vehicles currently using a different system .

    Well the Tuscon takes it for me, because it keeps SO MANY things than paying around 3k more for the hybrid-better model.And because my parents will buy only base models,that's apparently better for me as a back seatter who also cares about the comfort of his parents.

  • @shaddolf6662
    @shaddolf6662 2 роки тому +2

    Why not the N-Line Tucson?
    The Tucson comes in two variants; one which is average looking and one which is amazing. You picked the wrong one here.
    IMO in the looks department it goes:
    N-Line Tucson >> Sportage > Regular Tucson

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  2 роки тому +4

      No, I didn’t pick the wrong Tucson for this comparison. This is about base models with maximum value for money - the N Line is $3500 more. You may see that as justified spend, but it then wouldn’t be a base model with maximum value for money

    I would take neither. The KIA interior is woeful with the amount of plastic around the info screen and blanked buttons. Plus a 2 litre N/A lethargic engine in both of them pushing 1500kg (before passengers/luggage) is not a good choice for fuel efficiency or refinement.
