I'm a Weekenderlander - a joking term that I made up to represent my weekend vehicular adventures, that are like overlanding. I take my Tacoma out on a trail in Colorado, where I see the first snow of the season, explore a little in the harsh weather, and find a little spot to camp. I see a little Moose family nearby, and show a little bit of the gear I use while I camp.

honestly i think this is one of your best videos yet. such great scenery and just watching the truck through the mountains with the music was perfect. would love to see more like this even a bit longer. It makes for great background while working in the office. reminds me of what the outside looks like.
Love Mosquito Pass. Been there lots of times. It's much better in the summer but what you did was awesome. Love going to the peak and looking down at Leadville. Some old mining structures are towards the peak but they closed it off for some reason. :( Great video. Thanks for sharing.
In order of props, 1. Your girlfriend for being supportive of low temp camping and your Youtubing 2. The production quality of your videos 3. Your doggo for being a good boy.
Whoever said you are not an overlander can go pound sand, you don’t have to fit in some kind of box to have adventures.
Haha yeah, I'm mostly poking fun at the community that places so much importance over a very strict 'definition' of the made up word.
"Overlanding" shouldn't have a strict definition. In my eyes it can be defined as any adventure you go on for an unspecified amount of time, as long as your goal is to explore and have fun, you're doing it right!
Chase A Just gotta rack up $15-$20k in aftermarket parts to drive around Golden/Boulder....that makes you an Overlander! LOL
4x3Lander the old people in RVs use the highway, not “land”
@@elevated2552 LOL I was going to post something similar. 🤣🤣 Seems that nowadays to be Considered a true "overland" you need to have a trailer as or more expensive than your car and fully loaded with crap you may never use
These videos with a little bit of scenery, little bit of gear, little bit of vlog with chill music playing are your best content IMO. They are fantastic to watch and listen to. Your editing skills make the content stand out.
Glad to see the channel growing. Well done Mike.
We used to call it "camping"
I think the idea is to differentiate it from driving to the local carefully manicured camp ground that costs you $20 a night. Overlanding is more focused on the journey and exploring wild places few people ever get to see. Your point is well taken though, ultimately it's just a fancy word for wilderness travel and camping. The main point, as I've said before, is to get out there and explore the wild places.
dude, if theres a road there and you're in a car you're not really exploring wild places. He's watching TV and never leaves the site, has a drone and a bunch of other toys. I car camp, all the time on roads more aggressive than this, but its to get to a river, or a trailhead, or a crag where you will leave the car. If you never leave the vehicle and want all the comforts of home, just stay at home
@@WhiteCavendish
@@michaelfox6240 If you think there are no roads in wild places, you probably haven't been to any wild places. The simple fact is that there are many incredible places you will never be able to see without a 4x4 vehicle, so to snub exploring them because of some snobbish notion that relying only on backpacking and hiking makes you somehow superior or elite is frankly just rather foolish in my opinion.
Personally, I wouldn't bring a dvd player and tv with me, but whatever, to each his own.
Why there is always a piss competion "I go worst places" "no I camped on top of K2 naked" " I camped on big foot cave and ate breakfast with him" "I spend all night hunting for the Chupacabras" you all bunch of morons look like fking kids who you trying to impress live and let live do your stuff the way you want and let others do the same.
@@WhiteCavendish Is that why they call it "Overland" I figured it was just marketing hype to charge you $$$$$ for something that we call camping. Then again honestly camping to me implies "tent" which is not attached to a vehicle. This is a step below an RV and some of the Overland Rigs are beefy RV's with people that have a ton of money. It's like people that pay for Glamping tents for a night, might as well stay at a Hotel....LOL
“Overlanding is self-reliant overland travel to remote destinations where the journey is the principal goal.” No journey has a defined time limit. Anyone who says otherwise is a couch critic.
Dude! Those sun glasses are fly! What’s the name of Oakley’s? Your videos are great!
Overlanding is what you make it, imo. You're definitely living my dream.
Its not hard dream to acomplish. Add some good tires and buy yourself a tent.
She a good driver. Thanks for vid. Miss the mountains. Keep up the great work.
Mike you always have the dopest, cleanest, most aesthetically pleasing videos. Best content on the UA-cams.
Thanks GK!
If you like mike’s videos check out talon sei videos! Mike taught talon everything he knows. 😂
Still one of my most favorite videos you made. Absolutely beautiful
Atreyu is living his best life hanging his head out the window along the journey. That's one happy dog right there!
Your drone work in this video is exceptional - your vids are top notch Mike. Learning a lot from your channel on a whole lot of topics.
The scenery of the landscape in the video is honestly magical...
Cool to watch this all these years later 🤘🇨🇦
Are you sure it was a full weekend? You might only be a #partialweekenderlander 😉
I guess it depends on when the weekend technically starts, haha.
I love the joke. That overlanding has a fully set definition. I consider myself an overlander, but I can only take trips on weekends because I don't excrete golden fecal matter, but oh well right? It's what you make it. It is, in it's entirety, all about the journey and what you get to experience along the way. Peace out and keep it up.
"This is why I can't have nice things" as he's literally driving nice things in the field lol. Love it.
That looked amazing Mike, I miss cold weather
Sorry bro - not going to read all 415 comments to see if this is among them. Leave the heating blanket at home!!! The best cold weather camp trick is to heat some water bottles (Nalgene, Hydroflask, whatever) and put them into your sleeping bag about an hour or two before settling in. I did this with my 4yr old daughter in Kings Canyon at about 20deg with our cold weather bags and we were damn near sweating by the morning! Awesome Truck and Great Videos!!
My new dream truck has changed from a duramax to a 2nd or 3rd gen tacoma.
Haha nice!
Good stuff Mike always enjoy your vedios.. at 74 looking back I wonder how we ever survived with 2/w pu-trks sometimes a Jeep a canvas tent wood and matches back them it was called camping.. didn't know $70k of eco stuff existed.. not knocking it just thinking how times have changed..
Can you make a video on your on board compressor set up? Looks like you have an interesting set up with the switch in the engine compartment.
I'm a New York City boy! But I gotta tell ya, your really beginning to sway me over to making mre making me appreciate more and more what you do !!Keep the great content coming by way of your atttention to detail style and approach to detal appraoch with what you put up!! Thanks alot Mike!!!!
'Overlanding' is camping with $100k worth of kit.
Overlanding is go anywhere, do anything. It's expensive because people's greed make it expensive. If you can afford it though, I think it'd be worth it just to get away from the rest of the "civilized" world ;)
@@3nertia you can get even further away from the civilized world with the best 4x4 vehicle ever invented... your own arms and legs. off trail backpacking
I was thinking the same thing. Put some boots on, pick up a pack and go where no vehicle can ever get to. No people or machines just you and the world.
I saw this called Micro Overlanding somewhere, short overland trips on the weekend that could even just be driving into the mountains or wherever to picnic and back in the same day. Like most have said there's no little box Overlanding has to fit in. Adventure on!
Dude, watching these make me wanna hit the dirt roads and get lost

keep the good vibes rolling 🤙
Especially during lockdown!
I enjoy your videos good sir, very inspiring. I don’t care what they say about ya, your still an overlander by far as I can see🤙🏽
Bad Azz! Love Colorado. Any direction we go is something cool. Your dog is the best. Just chillin in the snow while sitting on a rock. Love it...
Sick shots of the moose.
These vids are so awesome! Please never stop making them.
So jealous. Love the rig, the rides and the views. I've been looking at the Estes Park/Conifer areas for possible places to retire in a few years. The mountains are calling to me! Keep up the great work Mike. Cheers.
Finally! A "this is why I can't have nice things" that makes sense!! Awesome shots, the experience of wildlife near camp like that is amazing, makes a trip for me. I'm gonna have to look into going up here, thanks for the walkthrough so to speak of the experience. Great video!
Lol!! Weekenderlanding!! If only this was a llod patch 🤤
I guess I’m three years late!! Just came across this. Nice video dude and beautiful landscape scenery!! Wow!
I just passed through CO on my way back to Minnesota from Moab and have now realized I need to move out west. Minnesota doesn't have much to offer for trails or scenery. Love the video! 👍🇺🇲
Best video yet! Please keep them coming. Music and scenery incredible.
The Air compressor setup is amazing!
Beautiful scenery, thanks for sharing.
Mike, I just got the chance to watch this all the way through (have been busy) What a great video. Beautiful and amazing views. Thank you taking the time to film this, cut, edit and post. It was a pleasure to watch.
Looked like a good time. What a beautiful spot, the moose was a bonus.
Sweet video as always man. Can’t wait to take my taco on some snow for weekenderlanding soon👌 Cheers
Everything in this video is just so beautiful, beautiful truck, beautiful girl, beautiful scenery, beautiful dog, beautiful truck setup and cant forget the beautiful man
One of, if not your best video Mike. 👍🏻👍🏻
Love the casualness of the vid. 👍🏻🐕
Awesome video! It’s fun to see familiar sights in CO.
Love how I can see an item in your videos and instead of quickly asking about it. I can look under the description to find it. Thank You
I try to add all the things of interest, but if I ever miss something, just comment and ask and I'll try to get it added!
the beauty of Colorado
VERY good video. Great information, and great videography!
Thanks 4 the video. Felt like i was there with ya. ....LIFE GOALS....
Awesome video, i enjoy watching your advaentures. It inspries me to get out there with my Tacoma.
Love the editing, the music is great! Non of that obnoxious stuff...makes me feel at home.
Thanks!
Any time I leave my house to go to the village, I drive overland..nice video, sweet dog and the intro music sounds beautiful.
Wish I lived in a state that had that much beauty.
Sick brother
Mshalo for sharing you adventure.
I've never done Mosquito Pass this late. Looks amazing and peaceful. Great video. Love it.
This is absolutely amazing! I’m working on a setup like this! Thanks for the inspiration! I can’t get enough of your videos!
Yea if I did overlanding i'd only go for a couple days at a time. Plus I like your camping style! Nice and comfy
This has got to be one of my favourite videos. Awesome stuff Mike!!
Sweet trail man! I'll definitely have to take a weekend up to that pass! I'll be a weekenderlander with you. Weekenderlanders unite!👍
4:16 WOW, what a shot!
Also - one of your best camping/wheeling videos. Nice work!
Sick video! I love the ability to check out terrain and wildlife with a drone too. MOOSE!
Great videos man, keep up the hard work. Really liked your music in this one too, and your fancy drone-work, haha.
Your Overlanding vids have convinced me to get out of my 18 F150 lease and get another tacoma only i'm buying this time so i can build her up nice
On the motorcycle it took me 30 minutes to get from downtown Leadville (eating lunch) back over to Alma side and down and just past the London Mill in the wide section / split. LOL I've been over in a Jeep Grand Cherokee when i owned that a few times, so much slower going. When I first moved out here in 2007 the road was actually nicer I took a Ford Edge AWD up the first part then we were told by a hiker it was blocked with snow...so we then hiked up and it's amazing the depth of the snow up there.
I try and ride that pass 2-4 times a year. Yearly it is getting worst and worst from the traffic. An old timer told me they took a van over back in the day. LOL
Awesome video!! Super jealous of your weekenderlanding trip! Looks absolutely amazing. I'm hoping one day I'll get my taco build going. Keep up the fun videos and posts! Much appreciated you sharing your adventures with us!
The trip looked good but the moose footage was amazing !
Man, great videography and music to this video. My heart was melting at that scenery and you have an awesome rig. I loved this!!!
Can't understand how a video and experience like this gets dislikes. Awesome, my man!
Awesome video brotha! Nice scenery and Bad ass Tacoma!
Amazing views. Great video thanks again.
That hair toss @4:13 was totally unnecessary and incredibly sexy! Great shot.
What an awesome truck setup you have...really cool...Surprised you got the missus to camp out in the snow :)
Wow that sure is a view alright, you're living it up mike!
Awesome video! So far your best one!
Awesome! I was on mosquito last Saturday, 10/6/18 in a white DCLB taco. Just a day trip, didn't even summit, only out seeing the sights.
Surprised we didn't pass each other! I'm guessing we were there on the same day judging by the weather.
Nice rig!
Just came across some of your videos today. Nice rig, and pup. I just drove Mosquito for my first time in October. We were socked in the whole time. I never saw a lake. Haha will have to try again this summer. Keep up the great work!
Awesome Video! Wife and I just spent a week in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Absolutely stunning up there and we both want to move to CO!
Jared Hudson good luck, real estate is so high in CO right now. We wanted to move there as well but the cost of homes is outrageous.
Great video! Awesome to see moose up on Mosquito Pass, but no mosquitoes.
I love real music on videos..thank you!
Just watching another ole weekenderlander. I wonder how many I'll get through today.
Hell yeah man. I found a Colorado channel! I’m in Denver. Let’s camp this summer. Love your gun vids
I love the first song in the beginning.
I think that was your best video so far ... beautiful scenery and awesome pics and just good vibes . Keep havin fun cuz i have fun watching lol 👌🏻👌🏻
Mike! Sick video as always bro. LOVED the quadcopter footage of the moose and the epic area you and the lady friend are in. God bless!
Great job on the video! Looks like a great time. Too many people get caught up in the "labels" or trying to fit a certain ideal. Just get out and explore and experience the world!
More content like this! I gave this video a thumbs up only 2 minutes in.
Another awesome video, please keep them coming Mike.
This is one badass looking truck. Makes me want to sell my 4runner to get the exact same one!
:O my face when I saw the case/switch/storage box under the hood! Please do a video on that!
Nice truck and that is a beautiful place to go.
Dude your footage of the landscape is breathtaking!
I love how you take the criticism head on. Keep up the awesome videos and happy adventures man.
Would have liked to see more close up footage of the structures behind the Moose(s). Looked really neat.
Well done mike you shot this one really well. One of my fav videos.
Awesome video! You're a lucky man to be able to do all this.
Wow nice place for camping and off road
Great video. Smart to not try and go all the way to Leadville. The other side would have been impassable.
Man you gotta do more videos like this!! This might be my favorite that I’ve seen you do! Love your stuff bro! Love that you dont hide that you’re a Christian either. If you’re ever in the Nashville area, let me by you a beer. Keep up the great work bro!
Please do a video talking about your compressor set up and what's going on with the seahorse case under the hood!
