We definitely need more people being creative in general. So many “builds” that I come up against that are just the highest defence/poise armour they can wear (or rakshasa with some other stat boosting helm) + backhand blades or some other very meta weapon. It’s lame. You’re supposed to make a character, stick to a theme or SOMETHING
@@Lewi_Rich you are not supposed to do anything tho. Its an action RPG. Naturally some people gravitate more to the combat while others to the role playing. Both are core parts of the game, both equally as valid. Theres room for meta lords and cute themed builds alike
Also there's like 5 genuinely creative players lol half of them are pretty competitive. Making a guts build, or just chosing bad armor and bad weapons is not creative.
it's crazy how Ds3 has quick matchmaking, stable connections and no input drops with more players per session despite having a low user count for years. It's almost like removing solo host invasions, obscuring co-op/dueling signs with a crafting item, lowering the player count, not fixing the connection or input issues, removing all multiplayer reward incentives, encouraging spammable low risk projectiles, creating an arena with 13 different modes and 1 map and allowing taunter's tongue to be freely toggled to grief invaders leads to a lack of activity in the community?!?
I wholeheartedly agree with you here, my best experience with Elden Ring has been with friends, I do enjoy invasions but when an encounter feels like it’s been set up to make my experience a living nightmare, it makes it hard to retain said enjoyment as those experiences aren’t fun and I just end up frustrated as a result of said encounters and as the game ages, the good encounters lessen and the bad encounters increase. As for the community thing, I’ve been part of groups that have done fight clubs as well as 2v2s/3v3s and free for alls and the curated experience is without a doubt more fun than completely random matchups and it also makes getting meaningful practice against specific setups more accessible. That and just having people to enjoy the game with is a boon in and of itself.
Good video, not much to add. imo, PVP needs to be forced on people in Souls games. It's part of the indomitable struggle: win or die (die many times and win), no excuses. It was how 95% of the community came to love a good 30% of these games' content -- in a way, it's how the community came to be in the first place! Having to deal with the quizzical gestures that communicate or betray intent. Having to understand each other without speech. Having to negotiate the madness and chaos. also, these Limgrave-gear-only invasion clips are awesome. I've never been much of a PVPer in ER but your videos are inspiring me to keep at it.
I'd definitely join a discord if you start one! My experience with Elden Ring has mostly been solo, and I've longed for a community to enjoy the game with for some time now.
@ActualPandaa They aren't viable with the current system/frame work we'd need to be able to invade in pairs at the very least to get the kind of experience I'm thinking of
@@nbmoleminer5051you can invade in pairs, I run group based around duo invading. Unfortunately I can’t turn friendly fire off but it can be avoided with skill
Good video man, I agree with a lot you said here. I’ll just add this from my own experience: I’ve pretty much given up on ER invasions because of the lack of community (and laser beam spam). There’s really just no motivation to come back to the game when the multiplayer is pointless when you no longer enjoy it. Since I went back to the DS trilogy it’s been the opposite. Fight clubs are popping with messages going back and forth, gravelording and getting Pve players involved in the pvp. Shit even invading in DS1 is rewarding because I used all the humanity I gathered to open the lost Izalith shortcut. Life is short don’t waste time playing games you don’t enjoy
i wouldnt mind beeing part of your community. youre a good soul. funny, i thought i never cared for these things but now that they're amiss i want nothing more. i dont have friends that share this passion with me. so if you intend to make a discord, id like to join the frey
I learned Elden ring’s PVP almost entirely through seamless co-op. Being able to hop on a call and continuously fight the same group of people helped me perfect my build and playstyle, and overall learn all the important basics. Not to mentions the random Invaders, which were kinda like skill checks. Is my current build good, I would ask myself. well, here comes a level 200 invader with a dragonbolt grease great katana with the solitude set and that bleed shield who is hardswaping and looks like their having a seizure before roll-catching me thrice and teabagging me for my lack of skill. well, an hour later, different build, learned how to dodge proper, and yeah, I get to teabag now. TLDR, try Seamless co-op fight clubs. They’re awesome.
I still don't understand why they lowered the player cap. Playing online sucks as invading is always a 1v3 gank, and if you host, even if you're by yourself the invader will most if not all the time be a burnt out tryhard that constantly has to deal with gank squads so he doesn't think twice to stop sweating even on a one on one agaisnt someone without meta pvp loadout. No other game was like this, I guess because of how mainstream ER became.
What SL to do you guys usually main? I’m about to make a new character (my main two are 315 & 322 lol) so I’m wondering if I should stop at 20, 50, 120, or 150 for this new character in order to get the best matchmaking possible. Any help is greatly appreciated, lads!
I still get invasions at all levels, but it's definitely slowing down. RL80-90 is good, enough stats to make an interesting build & invade all over the map. RL125-150 has a lot of fog wall invasions because hosts are near endgame.
I've made a lot of characters for sl168 but if you like Leyndell or anywhere earlier as an area I'd say sl98 because you'll usually just get the ng+ boss fight for early areas past sl130 or so
if you're really good and wanna smash ganks, 139. If you are not very good and don't wanna get rekt by super meta sweaty ganks, do any lvl 94 and below.
I have moved on. I need some objective when I play a game, and there’s no multiplayer objective. I can only replay it so many times, using an online guide for literally every step of the way
The next game will not have invaders, only cooperation and a coliseum for duels because that is what the pve community wants and the pve community is the largest and most important for fromsoftware.
I think being RL 170 is making things tough for me, I spend upwards of 10 minutes waiting to get summoned for co-op. The same goes for my 150 STR build, my 70 Rellana knock-off, and even my 30 Stormveil nun. I miss Dark Souls...
Im alrady in a pvp focused discord, but it's pretty inactive, mostly just people waiting for the next major seamless update and no community events, so i'd be interested to join an actual active community (not to say the the discord is inactive, theres still lots of chatting just not alot of in-game interacting).
I am an average skilled player at best. What made Dark Souls pvp fun for me was that, because of the covenant system, other average skilled players had a reason to participate in pvp. Plus the game mechanics slightly pushed everyone to become vulnerable to invasions. So with both invading and getting invaded you never knew the skill level of the person you would be fighting. With elden ring, especially the arena, I just get instantly shredded every time. Skill issue, I know, but I'm not having fun at all. I hope the next game will have a covenant like system again that attracts all kinds of players
I would suggest seamless co-op fight clubs. you often times get people with average skill fighting it out. also, if you die, you get to respawn and try again.
Ive always had the idea of multiplayer being part of the games, so if someone doesn't like it, tough luck. Of course, this was only valid before Dark Souls 3, where the developers finally tipped the community over into being antagonist towards each other due to the garbage way they balanced PVP. Now I'm of the opinion that the invasion and co-op mechanics need to be done away with entirely. FromSoft has proven that they cant be trusted to implement competently designed multiplayer.
Addressing that start of your video. Replayability shouldn't be a problem, you are limited to how creative you can get with equipment and everything else. I'm 800 hours in and i don't think I'll be anywhere close to done until 1500 - 2000 hours
Presuming you are talking about the election, if you believe anything about your daily life will change by who's ass is in the white house you are mistaken.
This, the younger generation have eaten up all the lies and slop. They adopted values that are supported by the media/system, they are not the "resistance" in any shape or form. In the end, no one cares about the average guy. Corruption and nepotism will never go away.
How to make the game live longer: -Bring back covenants with fun effects like Gravelords and the original Blades of the Darkmoon invading sinners. -Bring back solo player invasions when they are human (or whatever equivalent is in the game). -Remove coop priority for invasions so invaders aren't forced to fight ganks 90% of the time (and so silly funny builds would be more usable) -Remove or tune down all the flashy-AOE-anime-spam moves Basicaly just bring back the original Dark Souls multiplayer buth without the janky backstabs, perma stun-lock and all the glitches that made it disgusting to play after a while (there's a reason everyone was excited about the DS1 remaster, because we were hoping to get DS1 PvP buth with most of the jank and glitches out of it).
I wish they acknowledged pvp and gave a reason as to why you can't have team mates like previous games lmao, I bet they hate invaders or too many people cried
Yeah the point of ER was endless openness, size, and player freedom. They definitely hate reds, let's not deceive ourselves, but the fundamental logic of ER is even less friendly to invasions than previous titles. They didn't want people getting "bogged down" while exploring new places. Thankfully Miyazaki said they got this open world crap out of their system, so maybe the next title will be better for us.
I tried with this game man but it just sucked far more than it did not. Ill just play ds2 and 3 for the next couple of years and hope the next one has more care into pvp.
Not every game needs a community, it always devolves into circlejerk echo chamber in the end. I personally wouldn't like to share my time with "well, actually" elitists who have usually nothing constructive to say. People are getting more and more terminally online, if you want company just take a shower and talk with people irl.
I hate the whole "a lot of people don't want multi-player to be anything but optional" argument. If you want a single player or co-op only game, go play a game that's designed that way. Complaining about invasions in a FromSoft game is like playing Call of Duty and bitching about all the gun violence
