CORRECTION: We made a mistake in that the other wash cycles can be rolled over into the dry cycle if it is manually selected before the cycle starts, we still think more than 2 of them should be defaulted to just roll-over but it's still a nice feature we overlooked. We will discuss more about these features in some follow-up videos.

I have the new LG unit - it work s great - yes drying time is a little longer - start it night (time delay 2-3hours ) use quiet night mode - don’t hear anything- bedroom is 10’ away very quiet - clothes are done in morning- and no issues with lint or dog hair
I would definitely buy again - maybe I’ll add a second unit it the future-

Just got mine and I am quite happy after four loads with different types of clothes and bedding. I will start doing towel only washes/dries, however, as when I did a mixed load with towels included, it took about 4 hours to finish, versus 2.5 hours for just clothing. Did a queen comforter with an extra rinse cycle and it took three hours total and came out feeling warm and very dry.

I bought one a month ago loved the concept, the one problem I had with it that if you have pets more than 1 I wouldn't recommend it. We have 4 dogs and washing the blankets they lay on didn't get it clean took a little hair off and that's it very little in the lint trap and the gasket for the lint trap was deformed and more hair ended up on the fins inside of the unit (fire Hazzard) plus all the hair around the door gasket was horrible so after our 48 hours to test it we called Home depot and returned it thinking something was wrong with the lint trap, so a few days later they came with a new one and before they took it in the house I looked at the lint trap and same thing told them to take it back. So now we are getting the LG WashTower.

The LG does have a drying sensor, but it is a little confusing as to whether or not its being used when the dry cycle is selected. It would be nice to see them update the app and unit to include a timed-dry and a sensor-dry option that are clearly differentiated by their names.

My old LG turbowash had thinq and it for this reason I didn’t like it and never used it again as you have to turn on the machine to be able to use it plus if you want to change a setting after you start it the whole key pad is frozen and won’t let you change anything until it is finished or you cancel the whole program so just quicker and easier to turn it on while you are stood there.
So when the drum went on my old one I got a brand new LGturbowash360 direct drive 2in1 electric washer/dryer (without the thinq wifi) to save money as I wasn’t expecting it to die and still wanted a LG again.
Fluff is a problem and here in the uk we don’t even have a lint filter lol it all gets rinsed out of the tub into the main pump at the bottom of the machine and also stuck all around the rubber door seal and also hate the smell of it when it’s on dry makes me feel sick like a rubber smell was worse when it was new out the box in march it’s getting better but can still smell it…
Mine has ai wash which I find great in my opinion and smart diagnosis it’s the drying part that lets these 2in1 down I expect a little better from a LG washer/dryer but it’s not any different to how a cheeper one works this has electric drying not a heat pump.
But thankfully I still have my old 2009 Miele heat pump tumble dryer in the hallway cupboard so use that 80% of the time in autumn/winter months
But do love putting clothes I need in a hurry or work uniforms in at night turning it on to the wash&dry 6kg cycle and it’s all done and ready to wear in the morning just don’t put more than half a drum full or they come out damp and smell so have to be washed and dried all again.
Separates are definitely better but I live on my own have someone stay now and then so it suits me fine wouldn’t recommend combos for families.

Thank you for this video. I thought that the one major issue you would highlight would be the failure of the lint filter! I agree with one other commenter that the door gasket and all its little crevices functions as a second lint trap, in addition to the "official" one at the top of the unit. That one does collect lint but we are still getting a ton of additional lint, debris and hair in clinging to the door gasket. Such that we have to either vacumn it out with our smallest attachment and also wipe it out with a disposable wipe. I don't think it is acceptable to have to spend 5 minutes cleaning the washer between each load. And this happens with what I would consider "normal" loads - not just the ones that we know have dog hair. This is all ironic as we got rid of our stinking Maytag because of the door gasket mold, and now we have a different door gasket problem. We bought ours at the end of May 2024 and just called for service.

Question for you, I may be wrong, the way the LG is made compare to GE, when you wash the fins if the compressor, I think that even if its awkward having to clean from the top (if you want to create a table on top, its well designed to clean the fins in its natural way up and down, pretty sure that they could be fragile and if you stick stuff in like GE or samsung you could potentially bend a few fins making it less and less efficient.
    Am I correct?
I am looking at it because I am alone and often forget to change washer to dryer...
I can run it during the night where the electricity rates are good and stay away from peak prices.
Thank you all of you for your comment it helps making a good decision.

    • @BoulevardHome
      @BoulevardHome  4 місяці тому +1

The lint filter being on top definitely restricts what you can place on top of this unit, correct. That is one downside. In terms of cleaning the compressor, it doesn't seem any more difficult to access this one than it does on the GE. Thanks for watching!

Save space or save _space_ 👽? Jokes aside, that's a valid concern many people have! Some people have actually just swapped out their washer for this all in one unit, so you can still use it as a wash only if you want! You could even run a load as wash only, move it to the dryer, and then start another load as a wash + dry and have both loads finish together! Thanks for watching!

I was looking into energy costs today to run this unit compared to a regular washer dryer set. I found the energy use with this unit is 400 kW plus per hour and a yearly cost. They stated $13 a year.. I found a cost between the 240 as the dryer would run a quarter at the time you're savings is minimal

GE has a five year warranty. Samsung has one year. It doesn’t matter to us as no one will sell any LG around here (southern Nova Scotia) as there is no one to provide service.

    • @tim3172
      @tim3172 5 місяців тому +1

Uhh... GE has a "Five year" warranty with many asterisks.
      A) Labor isn't included beyond the first year. Labor is, BY FAR, the most expensive part of any repair.
      B) The 5-year portion only applies to the heat pump
      C) The 10-year portion only applies to the motor.
For the period of: We will replace:
      One year
      From the date of the
      original purchase
Any part of the unit which fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship. During
this limited one-year warranty, we will also provide, free of charge, all labor and
related service to replace the defective part.
      Five years
      From the date of the
      original purchase
The sealed heat pump drying system (compressor, condenser, evaporator and all
connecting tubing) which fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship. During
this additional four-year limited warranty, you will be responsible for any labor and
      related service costs.
      Ten years
      From the date of the
      original purchase
The motor, if it should fail due to a defect in materials or workmanship. During this
additional nine-year limited warranty, you will be responsible for any labor and
      related service costs.
The GE does NOT have a 5-year warranty in the sense that most appliances have a 1-year warranty.
A GE service at year 2-5 on the heat pump will still likely be a solid $300+.
Also, thank you for including your "WhERE I LiVe" nonsense as though it's relevant or actionable.
You could at least share where you claim to live so it could be useful for people.

A combo washer/dryer is great if space is an issue. If not, why not wash one load, put that in the dryer and work on the next load of wash? Bendix brought out the first or if not one of the first combo washer/dryers back in the 1950's. Machines like this work well in Europe to where most don't have a dedicated dryer. In the meantime, I'll suffer with my Speed Queen front loader. Boulevard Home seems to be expanding into our area, Las Vegas to where I caught a glimpse of one of those stores somewhere around town. Seems more like an R.C. Wiley. Probably not a place that I would shop for appliances but no doubt better than Home Depot or Lowes. Around here, it is Sub Zero, Wolf & Miele.

A lot of these "box" stores are mainly in the business of selling financing and the appliances, mattresses and furniture is secondary. I don't know if you got it fixed yet but there is a hidden update on one of the melodies that you can get on the app that finally fixed mine. It would never shut off until I updated everything from the app.
I work 12 hour days so when all said and done with I would be gone 14 hours or more and since I put in a load before work the machine would end up running for those whole 14 hours.
Also on another note the tech's they sent were great, prompt, and professional but (always a but) they have no idea what they are doing on these machines. Either LG just never trained them or they are just totally ignoring some of the problems. I kept contacting customer service and not once did they say the machine not shutting off was a issue. They just kept sending the tech out and he couldn't do anything since it was a software issue. They ended up sending a tech 7 times before finally we decided to update all the melodies and season stuff. One of those fixed it never shutting off.

Okay, I'm back to thinking the drying problem is because of the drain hose, I think (and I'm pretty certain) the technician was actually wrong.
I read in other comments that if the hose is too high then it won't drain properly. So I tried draining it (lowering the hose) directly into a 32 gallon garbage can. It worked a lot better, only a couple items felt a little damp so I ran just those items again on 'gentle' and they fully dried.

We had similar problems with the addition of the clothes sticking to the walls of the drum and not tumbling at all. We found that if you drain the machine after every cycle using the drain hose on the front lower left exterior of the machine many of these problems improve (including the lint problem around the front door gasket). We drain about 1-2 cups of water after every cycle. I have a second repairman scheduled to come today to fix this issue. @@gr8tGod I learned another trick that may help the lint issue. When you remove the lint filter on top of the machine there is a plastic screen of sorts at the rear of the lint filter cavity. You can remove it and take out excess lint that has accumulated behind the screen. You need to remove the screw cover and the screw on the top right hand side of the long side of the lint filter cavity. Then remove the plastic piece that covers the long side on the right. Then you can remove the screen at the back and clean it. This information is in the manual which you apparently have to read cover to cover when you own this machine. It's like you are doing old school washing machine and then a old school hot air drying laundry and you completely refuse to adjust your behavior to the new world of modern washer+dryer.
You need to only include items of the same THICKNESS, there is no way any of those loads, except perhaps the white one was thickness sorted. It would be like testing a modern car by throwing it out an airplane to see if it went as fast as an old one and the complaining the new one looked different when it hit the ground than the old one.
The time is INTENTIONALLY longer to SAVE power, but you never really bother using the machines correctly, so do we save power, because we might actually have to do more washes, making it hard to label the testing anything but 100% useless.
