  • Today I installed the Auxbeam F-S2 Series LED Headlights in my 2007 Saturn Sky which I believe should also fit in the Pontiac Solstice. I also installed some universal dust covers for the low beam headlights as well.
    Here are the items I purchased from Amazon.

    Won't the fan simply suck dust into the headlight compartment even with the generic cover as I believe it sucks in and doesn't blow out? Also, the high beam, seems like fan would just be pushing hot air around inside since it's sealed with the dust cap. It also looks like the cover goes the other way at least in the pictures.

    hi mike. thanks for the video on led headlights. i have a question about the cooling fans on these bulbs. the low beam has the universal dust cover that lets the fan out in the open. the high beam has the original solid dust cover the encloses the cooling fan. is that a good idea ? will it get enough air to keep it from overheating ? thanks for your thoughts ron

    hey man idk if you will nee this but i need that connecter between the parking lights that you are playing with at 3:30 the one that goes from the wire to the bulb any idea where i could get two of those or what they are called?

    A very informative video, I’m about to do my car and have a question. Are the LEDs still working good and would you do anything different now? Thanks

    These LEDs for the headlights are nice looking, but have an average life of 6 months. Im on the Sealight brand now. I’ll let y’all know if there any better in the future. The benefit with the Sealight brand is they’re plug and play. No extra covers required. You can use the ones currently on it.

      You have a link to those? Did you get the H11 for both high and low? Amazon says they don't fit, but I know how that goes. In a 2007 does it need the decoders/resistors?

    LED floods to much for me, I would rather go with a HID bulb....It may work better on the Saturn due to the projector.

      @MikesHouseOfMods  7 років тому +3

      The LEDs look and work very well on the Sky. Enough light to see but not enough to blind oncoming cars. However, when I hit the high beams, it lights up the world. They were amazing when I was on a very dark highway a few months ago.

    Thanks Mike my sky redline low beam went out so I need to change it and I'm glad that you show us how to do it. So now I gotta see and find a good bulb and I probably have to change both or should I just do the one that burnt?

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  5 років тому +1

      Hi Jason. I'm glad the video helped you. Personally, I usually change both bulbs at the same time, and then keep the old good one as a backup. I like changing stuff in pairs so I don't have to do it twice at different times. And you never know when that second bulb will go out. It may be when you're out of town or out on the highway somewhere.

    Mike I enjoy your video's but I have a question. I own a 2007 redline sky automatic which I have restored with 177,000 miles on it. Why did you buy the base line model and put all your work and money into it? I have driven both models and there is no comparison in performance. Just curious and please keep up the good work.

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  5 років тому +2

      Hi James. If you watch my Why Did I Buy a Sky video, you'll see that I had a particular search criteria that I was using. Convertible, Manual transmission, and under $10,000. A bunch of models of cars popped up and eventually the Saturn Sky. Since I said under $10,000, neither the Redline or GXP came up. So because of this, I didn't even know there was a turbo version.
      So i bought my Sky and have been having a blast with the mods. Most of them are cosmetic and some are suspension and performance, but all of them I would have done to a Redline or GXP anyway. And I have driven the turbo versions of our cars, and to be honest, I'm really not that impressed. I've driven both stock turbos and tuned ones, and the turbo lag (yes, it's there no matter what) just takes the fun out of it.
      With my stage 2 tune and the Sprint booster, I have a great setup for Autocross. I actually beat some Corvettes and I'm usually only 1 second or less behind Z06s. And during the NASSAM event, I was dead on the ass of all the Redline and GXPs during our runs through the countryside...sometimes hitting 100+ mph.
      Lastly, if I need more power (which some day I will) I'll just drop in an LS engine and whoop the ass of every gxp and redline on the planet as well as the Vettes :)

      @@MikesHouseOfMods Hi Mike,
      Thank you for responding and information. I do understand now and need to watch that video. My sky I bought from my son last year when he blew up the turbo. It was is very bad shape and he is not a mechanic. Being 75 years old at the time, my mind was willing but not my body. Anyhow I replaced the bad turbo with a new Borg Warner, new cat delete pipe, air filter and flushed out engine before changing oil. Somehow I survived and car runs great. I just maintain it now and enjoy it like you do. I did own a 68 vet for 45 years and sold it three years ago. It was time and to be honest my sky is faster and I enjoy it as much. Still cannot work on it well but I do my best. Thank you for your great video's and info..

      Mike Martin I enjoy the videos and the time you take to show how to install all of your upgrades. It’s really helped me and a lot of others who enjoy these roadsters.
      However, I find it hard to believe you are beating corvettes on a track unless they are the old late 70’s and 80’s cars, plus close to hanging with zo6 vettes when your car has at most 10 whp over stock unless I’m missing something besides a tune. That is roughly 155-160 whp. Power to weight ratio doesn’t even come close in comparison to any vette from 90’s to today. Perhaps your one in a million cars who’s engine is darn near perfect from factory and puts out more than expected hp. It’s possible and btw I’m no way trying to be rude. I just find it hard to believe. Keep up with the videos as they are helpful.

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  6 років тому +3

      I haven't changed them out yet. However, I'm not sure if the same H11 bulb will actually fit. I did a quick test fit and it looks like the fan housing may be too big. I now have a set of ramps that I can pull my Sky up on to raise the front. Whenever I get a chance, I'll be able to use those and get a better look at what I'm dealing with and whether they'll fit or not. I'll video it once I'm able to do that.

      Hi Jeff. I was a bit concerned about that myself, however, the high beams are usually on for a brief amount of time, so heat shouldn't be a problem. At least it hasn't been yet. I hope you didn't just jinx me....lol.
