I "jumped on the grenade" on behalf of the California political reporters 🙂 I asked Gavin Newsom about his ex-wife's speech at the Republican National Convention.
Kimberly Guilfoyle described California as "a land of discarded heroin needles in parks, riots in streets and blackouts in homes.”
His response?
"I appreciate you saying 'landing yourself on the grenade,' let me extend appreciation for your efforts to get me to respond and I respectfully defer to the next question."
No way to answer that question without looking either vindictive or evasive. Moving on gracefully was the only way - which incidentally is also true of marriages to narcissists.
Completely irrelevant what an ex-wifes opinion would be as well. Go talk to her new man.

I’m sure he still cares deeply about her and even if Kimberly is bashing the State of California she ain’t directing political hyperbole towards Gavin.

You could just see his emotional reaction to the question, as he gathered himself, considering what needed to be expressed as the decent respectful person he is...(thank you for asking, yes very accurate description, a bombshell...)...to then putting his foot down, again in a considerate and decent way, while making his statement (I respectfully decline to answer that question).
