Nice! I've been trying to wrap metal cables around parts of a character I'm working on and thought I could use Sweep Mesh, but I was wrong. This is giving me the result I was looking for. Thanks! I need to do a deep dive into MASH.
This video was very helpful for my current 3D model, a Morning Star (weapon), needs a chain along a path, and it's nice to be able to adjust the length and rotation. The video was a good pace overall, I did have to slow it down a little on the part were you linked the curve in, but other that easy to follow along. On a side note I like the music, thanks for putting in the links in the description. 🙂
fixed my issue by center pivot and delete history on the origional link. Problem im having now is when i rotate the pattern its as if it is rotating around the center of the scene rather than the object. Any ideas? New to maya. Im trying to create a chain around a car
When I add the curve, then the rotation messes up, Even refreshing the MASH network like you show on the video, doesn't work. Also, I'm only able to rotate my chain links again if I move the Replicator node above the curve. Otherwise, nothing happens! Why is Maya so weird sometimes... 😮💨 The way I got it to work for me and still keep the Mash functionalities was to NOT add the curve to the Mash group, but instead use the Deformer "Curve Warp". This way and can still edit the mesh with the Replicator node..
I learnt some maya functions I didn't know I was looking for watching this. Thanks.
Best damn tutorial in this I've ever seen. You sir, are both skilled in doing it and teaching it :D

Very nice ty!
thanks for the video. I kinda get there, but it refuses to connect to the curve. Just spreads them every where.
