you could smooth the shoes then extract the curve it will follow exact same the edge then delete smoothed version then you have the smooth curve .very nice tutorial by the way .
Hi Mussi, my 3d model (of all the stitchess) are turning in all directions (orientation) when i attach the stitches along my curve? What i am doing wrong? Thank you very much for your quick repsonse.
It's dope video, I'm struggling with this damn rotation in MASH distributor. Also, heads up, I would unitize my UVs when I'm unwrapping something rotation. You don't just want to unfold it. You want the edges straight for texturing.
When I try to connect it to the curve it doesn't work properly. Kind of frustrating me. For some reason it places in a smaller curve a way from the curve
no matter what I do, whenever I attempt to curve warp, the stitching gets offset from the curve - no ideas why! - any ideas?! (Everything's been frozen)
Mash is is a set of node based tools initially designed for motion graphics but have modeling applications as well. It started being integrated in Maya a couple of years back. You can find more info on mash here: knowledge.autodesk.com/support/maya/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2018/ENU/Maya-MotionGraphics/files/GUID-D4FECFDC-F91A-4BDC-A1B0-A24EB087B2DD-htm.html
Because this method is non destructive. You can change and modify everything any time without having to start from scratch. Also gives you rigging possibilities (for animation) that ZBrush simply does not have. The pain in the neck would be ZBrush, not Maya. Oh, and you never do back and forth between two applications, making the whole process actually faster.

for anyone having problems with Mash, dont use freeze transform on the object youre making a pattern with, that helped me
Yeah, it's not working for me like it works in the Video. The stitches are off the curve.
Played the video to learn MASH, ended up learning even more. .. beautiful workflow and lovely result :D

Hey dude! I just gotta say I love your videos! they are a massive help!

Very nice tutorial. Thanks for sharing
You're welcome. Thanks for watching
Awesome video, make more, please.
Very very helpful 👍

Nice work. thanks a lot
Glad you enjoyed the video Ken.
very good! thanks for sharing!
amazing
hey when i try wrap the stichings be deformed, any idea what could be ?thx amazing video!
You could subdivide a couple times the copy and extract the curves in linear mode from that high res mesh
JC That could work as well but you would have more edges to select to extract the curve.
JL Mussi not much of a problem if you select loops and you also end up with a perfect match. Depends on each model probably.
Yup, I agree totally model dependent.
Yup that would have worked as well, there's more than one way to Skin a Cat or in this case Build a Curve :-)
Thank you
i just try as you cant success
after curve wrap the location of stitch's not proper alignment
Thankyou!
thank you!
Really damn cool!
When I try to connect it to the curve it doesn't work properly. Kind of frustrating me. For some reason it places in a smaller curve a way from the curve
I know it's been a year! even i faced this, you have to reduce 'Max scale' option in Curve wrap attribute
nice tut thanks. Plz also mention in the title that it's Maya 2018.
omg very much tank thanks
how to do bend deformer
Hey,awesome tutorial..but how did you apply the bend deformer
Example: I have to make a dress, and have all the cut parts plane. Is there a way to stitch all the edges without deforming the mesh?
When you unfold, go into the options, turn on pack save settings to default, and now you wont need to rotate your UV islands!
Yo i cannot find the curve warp option in my deforms menu , im currently on 2018. Help please.
It does not stitch to the curve for me. I am having problems.
hello bro can you tell me what the pc i should have to modeling 3d
Mac Book Pro with a i7 2018-19. At Full Sail University that's what we use for Maya
That mesh flow though..
no matter what I do, whenever I attempt to curve warp, the stitching gets offset from the curve - no ideas why! - any ideas?! (Everything's been frozen)
Make sure that your pattern/mesh is on the origin before applying the curve warp.
JL Mussi thanks! That did the trick :)
Anytime Nick
Don't need to use the curve warp, MASH network has a curve node that you can use.
what is MASH? is it mesh or anything else?

where is create index in uv editor in maya 2017
What do you mean by "create index"? The UV editor?
yes . maya 2017 uv editor has not create index
your stitching didn't show up in that final render :)
you're a beautiful man i hope you know that

I really don't get why you do it so painstakingly :/
Just use zbrush man
