i made a commitment to handstand training in 2024. i honored that commitment and did handstands nearly every day for the entire year. i believe i made decent progress and plan to continue in 2025. my main goal is a free standing hspu. i train some other things too, so i'm not a specialist. also age 70 and have to be mindful of not trying to do too much volume, which has caused me injury in the past. thanks for all your tutorials paul and, happy new year!
Paul, I have to thank you. I’ve been training my ring muscle up for almost two years on and off. Yesterday, on New Year’s Eve, I finally achieved my first ring muscle up…! A big part of it is thanks to your coaching here on UA-cam. I kept getting stuck in the transition of the MU. I watched an older video of yours about doing Russian Dips to train the transition. Two days of training with that drill and bam..got my muscle up. It was one of my 2024 goals - and I did it *on NYE*! How cool is that?! I also almost have my straddle press to handstand. Did it from yoga blocks on their lowest height yesterday. Holy crap. The lowest I’ve ever been able to press from. Next will be a true press (from the floor, no assist)!! Anyone who may be reading this and feeling like any of these skills are impossible..they’re not. Be diligent, patient with yourself, and stay curious. Film yourself so you can see what you’re doing well and what you can improve on. Amazing things will happen with time. Your mind is a huge component of your success. I was starting to wonder if I’d ever get the MU..and surprised myself yesterday by doing 2. Happy New Year, everyone. Happy training!
