  • The Navy SEAL Training Program: The Start of Hell Week
    First Phase, the basic conditioning phase, is seven weeks long and develops the class in physical training, water competency and mental tenacity while continuing to build teamwork. Each week, the class is expected to do more running, swimming and calisthenics than the week before, and each man's performance is measured by a four-mile timed run, a timed obstacle course, and a two-mile timed swim. In addition to physical training, the class also learns how to conduct hydrographic survey operations.
    Because of its particularly challenging requirements, many candidates begin questioning their decision to come to BUD/S during First Phase, with a significant number deciding to Drop on Request (DOR).
    Historically, candidates who have composite PST scores below 800 are three times more likely to succeed than the average student. Most importantly, candidates who have made a full commitment to their goal of becoming a SEAL and those who decide ahead of time that quitting is not an option, regardless of how challenging the training becomes, dramatically increase their chances.
    The fourth week of training is known as Hell Week. In this grueling five-and-a-half day stretch, each candidate sleeps only about four total hours but runs more than 200 miles and does physical training for more than 20 hours per day. Successful completion of Hell Week truly defines those candidates who have the commitment and dedication required of a SEAL. Hell Week is the ultimate test of a man's will and the class's teamwork.

    • @fatbrownbuffalo7027
      @fatbrownbuffalo7027 6 років тому +30

      Yeah. It's honestly mostly about mental toughness and relying on team effort instead of thinking of yourself...which is what these SpecOps units are all about. Read some of the BUD/S stories of SEALs. There have been jacked dudes who literally cry on their way to ring the bell 3 times, because the mental stress was too much for them....meanwhile the guy who weighs 130 pounds earns his brown shirt.

    • @lifedragoon6907

      That does not mean you can't be muscular, you can be running back size and be alright if you got that muscle because of training for strength and body control, if you just trained for size then you wil have a hard time.

    • @BobBob-bn5jc
      @BobBob-bn5jc 7 років тому +20

      Trust me when I say this, no you won't. If the seals are even relevant in the next 5-10 years at the rate technology allows for machine automation, then what?
      Let's say the technology for smart guns is perfected, and shooting training no longer is required. Lets say that testosterone, and other miracle drugs are perfected to increase muscle mass uniformly without side effects. Let's say that micro drones the size of flies become a thing, (look them up) that can administer poison for elimination missions, or neutralize enemy forces.
      Also, just being realistic here, your chances are at least less than ten percent; and that is with good genetics. Also, look at the careers for navy seals after 30-40. You will have no employment options past your physical prime, You'll be unemployable compared to others that went to develop some technical skill, unless you become a drill Sargent where positions are limited. (if we assume the future is anything like now).
      So, no, you won't be a navy SEAL. Two: If you have time to run your mouth you can train. Three: I don't think you know the long term ramifications for being a SEAL.

      Bob Bob try me bitch

    • @BobBob-bn5jc
      @BobBob-bn5jc 7 років тому +6

      Well, you sure showed me. How about this. If you are so confident that you will become a navy seal then how about you create a fund for charity if you fail. How about starting know you open some type of social media page, and show everyone selling any distractions in your life. This includes selling any game consoles, or luxury items.
      After this, how about you pledge to offer an amount of money in that account week by week until you become 18, and able to join the military; hence become a SEAL. Since you are probably below 18 and can't sign a contract, get your parents to sign it for you with some mediator that will make sure to give this to a charity when you fail.
      How about, when you fail, you give this to a pre-selected charity.
      If you beat me, you have extra money for further training, and supplies. If not, then you have also provided for the world
      Of course you aren't going to do this. You'll say something like lol, and run, like a bitch. Why? Because you're young, you don't know how to plan, let alone do things, and people who can't plan, and do those plans fail.

    • @BobBob-bn5jc
      @BobBob-bn5jc 7 років тому +4

      Aidan Fultz Show me when you offer the money to some account then.
      But if you can't then, well, you can always call people bitch on the internet. You strong, strong dude. :)

    • @BobBob-bn5jc
      @BobBob-bn5jc 7 років тому +2

      Aidan Fultz +Aidan Fultz I'm done. I asked for you to put your money where your mouth is, and then you say some bullshit about how you attend a training camp.
      Look, somehow, in someway, you think that going to a wrestling camp is the same as hell week.
      You also seem to think that you don't have to form any incentives for yourself to train, whether by money, or otherwise (negative or positive; you'll just DO IT).
      You also seem to think that because your parents pay for your training that you are entitled to state that you can plan.
      Good luck. But don't whine like a bitch when you fail. Because that's what you seem like to me. The type of person who talks big, but can't do shit without someone supporting them.

    We are privileged to be able to listen to a couple men who have went through seals training during vietnam . They passed and were then sent to vietnam as the first navy seals to partake in duty in the Vietnam war . Their war stories are truly insane and give me goosebumps , but the instructors at the navy seals training facility were seriously like supermen . And they put those trainees through hell . Unlike what those who go through training today experience its set apart. They created tough seals and its just so amazing hearing of the adventures those men were able to experience in vietnam .navy seals didnt answer yo anyone but set up their own operations based on intell from regular army and Marines . They were similar to MACVSOG and didnt really do what other men of our military did. They went behind enemy lines where nobody else went . True heros

      yugioh guy To be honest, in regard to the training portion, it all truly depends on your *desire* to become a Navy SEAL. Your will & endurance are key and basically all you require to pass physical tests and exams. With every moment through the extremely intense gruelling training that passes by the human body gradually becomes stronger. So, no matter happens, stick to it. You only have one life, and each second that passes by is one second forever gone.
