I had been avoiding clicking these for a while because I thought it would just be some dude reading off tcrf without explaining anything (didn't understand how there would be so many videos). I understand you have to get through a lot in a short time, but it seems that you're struggling to keep up with your script! Heh, I can hear you getting out of breath sometimes. I just got this game recently and love it! It's probably my second favorite now, with Mario Kart DS being first. Since Super Mario Galaxy is my most favorite game I think I would have enjoyed that galaxy themed course!

The extra lap numbers actually werent unused, they were used in the online tournaments where some challenges had more than 3 laps, such as racing around cookie land
The mission tracks were used. However, not anymore since Nintendo WFC shut down. Each mission was assigned to all players in each month and players could try to beat their high score similar to time trials. I remember fondly playing these missions and trying to compete against other players highscore from across the globe.
That wasn't mission mode. That was competition mode (EU)/ tournament mode (US). It is thought that this cut mission mode would work similar to Mario Kart DS's mission mode.
I dumped a few textures and images with Dolphin. I found a few images that were different from the icons when selecting your character, but they weren't too far off. The regular icons show a side view of the character heads, and the image resolutions are 64x64. The other icons show the characters looking forward, and the image resolutions are 32x32. I don't know where they are used, or if they are used. Edit: I'm an idiot. They're used on the minimap :/
