Think Media Hi, so i followed your recommandation and i just bought Sony a6400 and i want to ask you what’s the best beginner video editor software out there?
Hi there! We use a Sony HDR-CX160 and we use Vmix to live stream to facebook. We then upload to UA-cam (because I was informed that if you live stream to UA-cam, that is when they insert ads). We are looking at switching to a 3 camera system (which also means we need to upgrade our switcher), is there any suggestions you would have? We stream from about 60 ft distance. So far, I've spent a LOT of time googling my questions and trying to sift through all I'm finding.
M50 questions asked several places. Answers - 1) HDMI Out is only clean with AF OFF. 2) USB Out *IS* clean with Canon EOS Utility Beta (free) or Sparkocam app ($60). Both these drivers also send keep-alive to cure the 30 minute limit problem. HOWEVER, USB out does NOT send full HD. It sends 1024x576. Huge loss of quality.
Omg this video changed my life! Not exaggerating, due to the Coronavirus I had to step it up and now I’m doing all of this research for my churches live stream. Thank you for this!
One more camera recommendation >> The Panasonic Lumix G85. The model is a few years old, so you can pick one up for anywhere between $350 used to $600 new. You can think of it as a GH5 Lite. It's a video / streaming BEAST! It shoots great 4k, has killer 5 axis IBIS (in body image stabilization), a fully articulated screen, unlimited runtime, etc., and it will easily hold it's own against much cameras that cost a whole lot more.
I have an M50 and it has autofocus, even has face detection and works great. I struggled in the beginning using this cam but setting it "cam" mode solved the majority of issues!!
The canon m50 mk2 is what I'm using. The pack in lense it comes with works great for livestreaming and I got a dummy battery off of Amazon for like 22 bucks so I can stream for unlimited time. It works great with the clean hdmi out.
Great video, VERY informative, thank you. I suggest adding the Zoom Q2n4K to the list. It's webcam function is seamless with FB live without the use of OBS. It also has audio in, which for me as a musician, allows direct input from the mixing board. ---- MY STREAMING SET-UP? In 2009 I started streaming to Ustream. The set-up I used; Sony TRV-460 camcorder-DV out > Canopus ADVC110 (capture) Firewire 'out' > Firewire 'in' of my Mac Pro desktop. I used Adobe FMLE to encode and send to Ustream. It was flawless, but in SD. Lately I've used the Q2n4K, but I am making the move to HDMI out > Capture card with my Panasonic HC V800 Camcorder.
Can you please tell me if you got a clear video quality LIVESTREAM video pictures and if so what was your set up to achieve that good video quality ? I am using an ATEM Mini Pro?
@@BeauJohnson1 Yes it does have clean HDMI if you want use capture card, but I use only USB cable and SparkoCam software because it is much cheaper and doesnt need capture card, only usb
I use a Nikon D7000 for live streaming to Zoom. Software installed on my laptop is SparkoCAM. Mainly for framing, perspective, it's fuly adjustable to what I need. First setup I tried (already had the camera before Covid, so open to better suggestions!
One problem you may encounter with using AC is a buzz over the audio. If the camera can be powered from a USB port, plug it into your computer to test and see if that eliminates the buzz. Otherwise, you may not want to use the permanent power option.
Thank you for this, Sean. I've been using my iPhone (just upgraded from 7 to 11) for my normal videos and live streaming. The only thing is I cannot schedule my Facebook lives to be done with my iPhone (I can do this with UA-cam though)
hello im your subcriber pla help me cause i wanna use my canon dslr SL2 in fb streaming but i cant connect it in my laptop 😫😢 plz help me i dont know what cable to buy to connect it
A big reason for the shortage isn’t just people stuck at home webcamming . It is all the schools closing and having the kids do their work from home. I have three kids and they are required to use Zoom (which is a reason their stock is rising), to attend virtual classes.
I started almost 6 month ago to get into the topic by evaluating software and hardware option to get started. I ended up by using Streamlabs OBS with a Multicam setup by using 2 smartphones (1 Nokia android and 1 iPhone X) a GoPro and the build in Webcam of a SurfaceBook. I know it sounds complicated but it was not that hard to set up and just make the first experiences. Currently I‘m thinking about to get a dedicated camera for live-streaming and recording. It’s really hard to find the right one
Please be frugal during these uncertain times. Nobody becomes a successful streamer overnight. Don't spend money you'll need later for essential expenses. Stay safe, folks!
I will be starting on my Android for facebook live. I have large tripod also I'll be using some good lighting just shoestring budgeting to start with. Thanks for the tips...
Always looking for your new videos and thank you for this new one 👍 I just started editing videos this year and I was thinking about live streaming, are these equipment available in all countries?

Hi Sean, I run a social media account of local TV station where we broadcast specific programs via Facebook. The workflow is that’s we schedule some TV Shows to go live on Facebook from 2PM to 2:50PM and the next one will start at 3PM till 3:50PM - just to give you an example. The ISSUE is that we have to END manually the live every time in order to start the other one; QUESTION : How do I “Auto-End” live Streaming on Facebook Live ? Thank you in advance !!
I use a Canon SL3 which provides unlimited runtime, clean hdmi, and a mini hdmi port. Basically the DSLR version of the M50 which is mirrorless. I absolutely loooove this camera 🤙
OK. You rock. Really enjoyed this video. You stay on point and I appreciate that very much. I have much to learn. Your channel is a great place to begin. Thank you.
What is up Sean, you and Think Media helped me a lot for starting my Livestream videos and tips for starting my channel, really really appreciate all your efforts of sharing! Thank you!
Just to say that I use the Canon 250D (SL3), it works perfectly. It has clean HDMI without losing the fantastic AF, unlike the M50. I have tried both using the USB and Cam Link 4K. Both work, but Cam Link wins hands down for quality, ease of use and ability to have your camera recognised in Skype and Zoom, without a whole heap of faff especially on Mac.
Is there a way to take Panasonic avchd video format and put it on an iPhone? I’m debating on getting a t3i and out magic lantern on it or a Panasonic gh2 and back it to do 120mb 1080p Or I’m also wondering, does the video produced by the t3i with magic lantern installed play on the iPhone? I would prefer not to have to upload to my laptop and then send it on my phone, because any editing I do is on my phone since it’s way faster than my laptop for video editing Thanks for the tips and tricks
Very cool video. Quick question - why don't you use a shotgun mic behind the camera to remove the mic from the video? Is it a stylistic choice to have mic in the picture, or is the sound too poor with shotgun mic just 3 feet away?
Hi there! We are having to live stream out church service on Facebook. Last Sunday we just used an iPhone but I do own a canon M50 that we can use. Can you please let me know everything that I would need to get to me able to live stream using my camera? (I would use my MacBook Air as far as computers go) thank you so much!!
Regarding DSLR and mirrorless cameras, I vaguely recall Matti Haapoja claiming he had problems live streaming with one of the Sony cameras because it overheated (I forgot if it was the Sony a7 III or Sony a7R III).
Some higher spec compact cameras are a good alternative. I am using Sony RX100Mk Va. Compares well with a typical entry level mirrorsless in image quality (not as big sensor, but lens is much faster than typical kit lens). It runs indefinitely on USB power, no dummy battery required. Very good auto focus, a ton of picture customization options, full manual control, clean HDMI out, useful zoom lens. While the internal recorder is limited to 5 minutes at 4k, it can output 4k video over HDMI indefinitely. Only drawback: no mic input. But I need an external mixer and audio interface anyway, so who cares.
D5200 will gets you much better image quality compared to any webcam and you should check it at first before buying anything else. D5200 suppose to have clean HDMI out, with D5100 I have to use patched firmware. Elgato is not the only option, I personally use AJA U-TAP which works great without any proprietary drivers and software. There are also some very interesting Magewell cards you should check. Do not need 4K card as D5200 is only capable of 1080. give your Nikon a shot!
Great video Can't you stream with Poly pop as well . I'm actually using a Nexigo webcam 🤮🤷🏻♂️✌🏼 And what's up with Comcast I get around 3-400 Mbps download but only like 10 upload & for 1080 you can use a 30$ cap card ✌🏼
Since this video, various Canon cameras (including the M 6 Mark ii that I just got 2 days ago!) now work with brand new Canon Streaming Kit. And I am wondering if this now does not have the 30 minute limit issue?? Anyone know? Anyone done an all day stream with Canon M6 Mark ii?
Been waiting for a video like this for a very long time LOL thank you. You covered everything! I was having a hard time finding the perfect gaming cam for my son.
Great video. Really looking forward to using my mirrorless as a webcam. Can you give more detail and guidance on how to turn my Canon m50 into my webcam? Ideally, the least expensive way possible. I was laid off last week.
I have a MacBook pro with El Capitan and Sierra operating systems. So with older outdated software I have issues using OBS and connecting my M50 camera. What computer do you recommend for streaming and being able to use my DAW or plugging in Electric Piano?
Always fun to watch. Great insight. I am stuck deciding if I should get the Canon M50 for live streaming. No sound out from HDMI. No clean HDMI out and limited time in record mode? What DSLR can do all three?
Can I use a Canon Powershot G7x Mark II for livestream? If so, do you have affiliate links for the dummy battery, any extra lenses, cords and cards? I have a Canon EOS 70D for my UA-cam in a separate room, but I'd like to leave it there and use my Canon G7x for livestream - if possible?? All my equip comes from your reccs!
Sean any chance you would have some input on the new Mevo Start? The focus would be in the midst of the COVID Quartine BUT extending beyond to new opportunities with Zoom and FB/Insta/UA-cam Live. Just curious about your thoughts and input. Dude seriously LOVE your channel and service to the broader community community helping them find traction in the area of their passion and capactity to create. Serioulsy GREAT JOB!
With Webcams I don't think 60fps is always better. Especially if you don't have good lighting 30fps might be better since you (most likely) get double the light for each frame reducing noise by a lot
Can you please do some tutorial on how to do livestreaming using Canon rebel EOS T6i and troubleshooting. I have troubleshooting using my DSLR. THe only thing will appear on the screen is the usb icon with underneath x red icon. thank you so much
Dig this! Just got an M50 kit w case strap x lens 2 bats SD card filters 1 tripod 1 monopod but no micro cable. Thought I was go to go for streaming but need Cam Link?
Hey Sean I have been using Socialive, my biggest challenge has been lag in my Picture and Audio. My guest is always very smooth and uninterupted. I am Streaming to Linkedin, You Tube and Facebook on every broadcast. Great Video- Thank you as always!!
@@ThinkMediaTV I have the Elgato cam link, and neither OBS or Streamyard were able to find the camera. Supposedly it does have a clean HDMI. It does have Wi-Fi which will allow you to stream online, but the lag is severe. Panasonic does not support this camcorder anymore oh, so it's definitely not one that I would recommend. I record all my UA-cam videos with it, and it is a great Camcorder for that purpose. I saw that you mentioned that you were streaming with a GH5, have you done any videos on that, I'd like to look up that camera.
Is this camera right? www.reddit.com/r/videography/comments/8u9sny/livestreaming_with_a_panasonic_hcv770_via_hdmi/ Looks like it works for them... could be the capture solution?
We are streaming on Facebook Live and Instagram live with iPhones.. looking for external mics, and came across your video from several years ago. You still recommend the Shure MV88? Also we have worship sound to work with during some of these as well, so would prefer a great mic potentially not attached to the phone but positioned more centrally in the room. Would love your recommendations!!!!! THANK YOU!!
Great info. I have tried to live stream with my phone (samsung S9 plus) and have it set to max time to keep the screen on as well as having the phone on where if you have it plugged in it stays on, unfortunately that is not working. Any ideas? Thanks.
I use the Canon m50 for streaming. I sit and talk but I also dance. What lens should I be using? I like to show everything in focus and wide angle I think would be best in my situation. Is 576p the best that eos webcam utility can do? Should I be using a capture card if I want to stream in 720 or higher?
I remember looking into m50 and it has limited run time and doesn’t have a clean HDMI - there are workaround with additional gear and apps,..but isn’t Apple friendly. Can you please show us how you would set up the m50?
I have an M50 and have streamed with a Mac. The M50 has clean HDMI as long as you use manual focus. I too have read you can get around that with SparkoCam, though it is only for PC. The M50 will also auto shut off after 30 minutes. You can get around the auto shut off by having both the USB and HDMI connected. Use the HDMI for the video and connect the USB between computer and the camera then open Canon EOS Utility 3 application on your Mac. Use the utility to go in to live mode and the camera then won't shut off. I use the CamLink 4K to connect the HDMI and select the CamLink as the video source in OBS. The main drawback is you can't use autofocus. Even if you turn off the focus squares in the EOS Utility 3, the square around your face still goes through the HDMI. The only way to get rid of that is to go to manual focus. I don't have constant power and find that the stock OEM battery gives me at least 90 minutes of run time while livestreaming. Hope this helps.
Is there a way to use a smart phone as a webcam to do live stream without using wifi? I want to stay connected via ethernet to keep best connection possible so that plugs in into my laptop now can I plug a phone into my laptop and use it as a webcam with a capture card perhaps? thanks for the help.

Quick question for you- will I be able to use my Canon 80D as a webcam (on MAC) if I purchase the Elgato Game Capture HD60?
Thanks Sean. So happy with my M50 so far. Now to up my presentation and editing skills to the same level as my camera 🤣
How much did you buy your canon M50
@@danifreetown8227 renting for three months first but about $800AUD to buy.
@@BenGoodbrand Are u in the U.S?
Since this video, various Canon cameras (including the M 6 Mark ii that I just got 2 days ago!) now work with brand new Canon Streaming Kit. And I am wondering if this now does not have the 30 minute limit issue??
Anyone know? Anyone done an all day stream with Canon M6 Mark ii?
Been waiting for a video like this for a very long time LOL thank you. You covered everything! I was having a hard time finding the perfect gaming cam for my son.
1 MILLION Subscribers!! 🥳🎉🙌🏽Congratulations!! 💫
Thank you David!
Congrats on 100
Men Nation Podcast hey thanks so much!! 🙏🏽 Congrats on your 100 too! 💫
Canon now have beta version for live stream driver + software without the need for capture card interface
👍, i tested 2 hours with canon 200d... without capture card... 👍👍💜
Great video. Really looking forward to using my mirrorless as a webcam. Can you give more detail and guidance on how to turn my Canon m50 into my webcam? Ideally, the least expensive way possible. I was laid off last week.
What computer? www.ecamm.com/mac/ecammlive/ if you have a mac

what’s better for the brio if you would be using it for gaming? the 4k/30fps or the 1080p/60fps?
I have a MacBook pro with El Capitan and Sierra operating systems. So with older outdated software I have issues using OBS and connecting my M50 camera. What computer do you recommend for streaming and being able to use my DAW or plugging in Electric Piano?
I use a good secondary phone and its the best according to me
Always fun to watch.
All my equip comes from your reccs!
i have the logi 922 but streamyard only does 720 anyway
Sean how do you prepare for doing a video? Where do you research, how long does it take you to prepare?
Very helpful video, thanks. What's that triangle light you have shown in your setup over your monitor & cameras?
Sean you have helped us so much. Thank you!
After watching about 53 videos about Live Stream this is the most useful one for me. Thanks mate 🥂
Can you use a Sony A200 as a webcam or add to live streaming? Thanks for sharing
What do you think about doing a go pro knock off that would do like a 4k @ 30 fps?
What was the make and model of the white camera u held u. U referred to it as a APSC type camera.
THe only thing will appear on the screen is the usb icon with underneath x red icon. thank you so much
Thanks so much!! I can use any advice to help grow my little channel!!
Just a heads up, that Panasonic camcorder that you featured cannot stream live. I have that exact camcorder and it does not work with a capture card.
Cigar prop thanks for the tip. Which capture card? Just didn’t work? Or doesn’t have clean HDMI?
@@ThinkMediaTV I have the Elgato cam link, and neither OBS or Streamyard were able to find the camera.
Supposedly it does have a clean HDMI.
It does have Wi-Fi which will allow you to stream online, but the lag is severe.
Panasonic does not support this camcorder anymore oh, so it's definitely not one that I would recommend.
I record all my UA-cam videos with it, and it is a great Camcorder for that purpose.
I saw that you mentioned that you were streaming with a GH5, have you done any videos on that, I'd like to look up that camera.
Is this camera right? www.reddit.com/r/videography/comments/8u9sny/livestreaming_with_a_panasonic_hcv770_via_hdmi/
Looks like it works for them... could be the capture solution?
Hello, could you recommend a camera if I would like to go live 24/7 on youtube? Thank you
Can you live stream with the canon 70d? If so hollyw do you connect it to livestream on platforms like Facebook and Instagram?
Is there a way to use a smart phone as a webcam to do live stream without using wifi? I want to stay connected via ethernet to keep best connection possible so that plugs in into my laptop now can I plug a phone into my laptop and use it as a webcam with a capture card perhaps? thanks for the help.
