- Welcome guys and gals. So in this episode we take a look at BioHome Ultra or BHM one of the biohome media family. I show you on why I think Biohome is one of the best, if not the best media on the market and give a full review on it.
Also we have some guests drop in and we chatted pond and koi for hours sorry I didn’t get much footage of this but we had a great time chatting koi.

Hi Jamie, Looked at the Biohome ultra media quite a few times and the guy who sells it makes very good case for using it , there is a guy on you tube who uses it in a shower and he has a lovely pond with big koi in so it does work . Good update buudy!
Thanks bud yeh I've been using it for 6 years with fantastic results but in y shower I have biohome ultimate the one with extras in it but I am a huge fan of it since I first discovered it 😀

It’s really hard to tell. I would say very similar. I think area wise mines around 4.1x2.8 🤔 Yours has a drum on it though 😬😬😉 Need to get me one.
@edenkoipondchannel external dimensions mine is exactly the same 4.1x2.8m how weird 🤔 😅 but yeh I'm so glad I blew my budget and decided to get a drum makes cleaning much easier and it means I don't have to worry so much if I go on holiday 😀 😊

@makcakoi2393 to be honest I've felt alot like that lately but it's my koi and pond that keep me going so I may as well turn the camera on while I'm doing it if that makes sense

Thanks for the Biohome info, very helpful. No immediate plans for filter upgrades, but I'm mulling over phase 3 of my pond after losing my fish, so all goo information is gratefully received. Love a good visual demonstration too!
Yeh I'm sorry about your fish bud that was heart breaking to watch but as I said if you change your mind about the tench I have 2 you can have 👍 and yeh Biohome media is one of if not the best media's out there it's not cheap but it works wonders 👍😊

I have only just started using it on my cannister filters on my fry tanks, currently I have 15 kilo and still have room for more, seems to be doing a good job, but you do have to be patient for it to mature to FULL cycle, great vid Jamie😀
Thanks bud and yes Absolutely takes a good 3 months I'd say to fully mature but once it's there jobs a gooden it holds beneficial bacteria very well 👍

Yeh it's not cheap but it's great at helping with nitrates 👍

So envious.... It was -40 last night.. just miserable..
Did a koi vid for next Friday dealing with it..

We love BioHome Ultra it lasts a very long time and does a fantastic job, great vid very informative. Biohome ultimate is more for marine with extra minerals

Your welcome bud it was a great comment 👍 and it really is imo thr best media on the market been using it for 6 odd years now and haven't found a better media but with a top quality media it does come at a premium and you can fit a hell of a lot of this stuff in a bakki shower but it's certainly work getting as much as you can 👍

Sweet in my pond my favourite is my chagoi but my favourite koi overall is a tancho 😍 just don't have one yet looking for the right one 😊

@@keepingitkoi (my other channel) Groovy. It's not the cheapest way to dill a shower but it works extremely well. A couple of years ago I had a guy down South buy a nation of it for a huge system where he had top quality koi and he easily achieved zero nitrates. He noticed a quick escalation in the koi growth too (due to them living in 0 nitrate water) but his pond was partially indoors and heated. Escalated growth would be less noticeable in an unheated pond due to the fish growing slower in cooler water (and our Winters can punish growth, lol)
@@keepingitkoi I would but the program I was using to download UA-cam videos no longer works for them. Added to that I had a time a few years ago when some vindictive bell-end reported many of my videos to UA-cam after I uploaded clips and videos from other channels (with their permission to promote them) and that resulted in 2 strikes on my account from UA-cam - I sat dreading a third strike and the deletion of the channel for months before those strikes cleared so I can't take that chance again.
While the people on UA-cam are generally great there are some proper jealous dongs out there who only want to destroy other people's work.
I will stop now as I feel a rant coming on.....
@ThousandYardStare I'd love to be able to afford to own that much biohome 😍 but I didn't mean download the video you can just get the shareable link and post it in your community tab that way you just directing your subscribers to another channel and that's all fine I do it all the time if I like a video I just share the link on the community tab 👍😊
Hi,I have used Biohome for 10+ years for my tropical fish tanks and have been very happy with it (swapped the alphagrog out for it). Was very happy with it, stands up well to the test of time. I have to say I have shutdown my tropical tanks since I started my 10k gal koi pond, I gave no constrains with space so I have about 200 square feet of bog filtration with pea gravel but should I ever require some sort of more compact static biofilter I would gladly use Biohome

I've got a three tier shower full of the Biohome ultra n had to buy it three seperate times to fill my shower. Great stuff but very expensive i wouldn't do it over again i'd use a cheaper product.
Yes very expensive but think of all the extra bio you have having the best media around in there 👍 I'm working the opposite way around I started off using the cheaper stuff and slowly but surely swapping it all for the good stuff 😀 👍

Can't get my biohome ultimate to work every aquarium has high nitrates, only thing they helps it's waterchanges an floating plants
Hmmm that can only be 1 of 3 reasons.
1 your over stocked.
2 it hasn't matured yet
Or 3 your doing something wrong

how many kilos of bio home ultra needed for a 10,000 gallon koi pond?
They say 1 kilo per 1000 gallons but that all depends on other filtration and stocking level but it gives you a base level to work at 👍
Can't understand why you are full of praise for a media that you haven't even tried in your shower yet? Apart from the hole in the middle I reckon all the other brands of Ceramic Media have the same or very similar properties, OK it comes in smaller pieces but the bigger ones are easily broken to suit.
When teperatures are up to a bacteria friendly level, I wonder exactly how you will be able to evaluate the performance, when in a shower containing 2 or more other ceramic media?
Genuinely interested as I have just bought my first 'bakki shower' and have a mix, 2 boxes each of Momotaro BHM and Queni's CSM ready to go, but won't be able to get it installed until spring is here!
As I said in the video the shower already has a load of Biohome ultimate in I've been using it for around 6 years now and swear by the stuff.
When I put my shower together I did feature it alot in that video but I couldn't do that test with it then as it was all already wet and takes days to dry out fully.
So as I got a bit more brand new stuff I thought I'd share it with you all.
But yes I've had 6 years experience with it so it's been fully tested in my koi tanks, my koi vats and my ponds 👍
And the only reason the shower isn't absolutely full of it is because of the cost it's around £90 for 5kg that little box I had in this video is only 4kg so would probably cos in the region of £1500-£2000 to fill my shower with it
Bio he media is definitely the best in my opinion to, it's expensive tho.
Cwp sealant looks to be top quality to 👍

Yes unfortunately 😔 but like everything in life with good quality comes a good price whether is cars, technology, houses, food pretty much everything so I suppose the best media is gunna have the highest price
