    Fantastic review! I am kicking myself for missing this on the Big Screen. Now am just sad-waiting for it drop on one of my Streamer Services.

      Thanks, dawg. I gotta get around to buying it for my physical media collection. It's a must own. :)

    I totally agree with all the different elements that encompass this film and made it so much fun to watch.
    Usually I'm fine with the suspension of disbelief, but I also though the whole plane sequence was overboard.
    It could have happened differently and still worked within the context of the story. Still enjoyed the film overall. Appreciated hearing your thoughts! 👌👌👌

      Thank you for the comment. Ya, that plane sequence was a little too overboard, but I felt like this was some story being told at a bar about the Legend of SISU... and him surviving that plane crash in particular would be the stuff of legends.

    Yeah, I really liked the movie too. I just wish they wouldn’t give away so much in the trailer. But again, awesome movie

      I think trailers are hard to make, and I don't think the trailer spoils too much of the film. Really it sets up the concept of an old dude whose gonna kick butt for an hour and change... get ready to enjoy it. I can't wait to own this film and watch it again. :)

    "Where Eagles Dare" meets "For a Few Dollars More"
    Absolutely loved it...

      I like the deep cut with "Where Eagles Dare" I need to get that into the collection and watch it soon. I didn't know Clint got into some war movies, I only know him from the westerns and dirty harry of course. :) Thanks for the information dawg.

      @@popcornbeard You will probably enjoy Kelly's Heroes as well. Although it's a comedy the action scenes are well staged and fairly realistic...

      I haven't seen Kelly's Heroes in sooooo long. I watched that many times with my Dad back in the day. Thanks for reminding me all about that movie, dawg. I wonder if I can get it on blu ray or 4K?

    Jorma Tommila is married to Jalmari Helanders sister and Onni Tommila is their son, so it is a true family effort. 😅

    • @popcornbeard
      @popcornbeard  Рік тому +2

      Thank you for this information, I was wondering if there was any relation between Jorma and Onni. I also noticed that Onni is in each of Jalmari Helanders movies too. Very interesting, and super cool to see . :)

    Die Hard im WW2? Rare Exports is GREAT. Big Game is also good. They're fun.

      I would say, if I had too, it is John Wick in WW2, but replace Keanu with Clint Eastwood.
      Those two movies might end up in my movie collection as random blind buys... if I can find them.

      I'm just reading the wiki entry about The Captain (2017) and it sounds like a good movie. I'll see if I can find it some place to stream. Thanks dawg.

    You say Helander like Highlander, which matches the way the main character survives through the movie.

      Hahaha, you are 100% correct about that one, dawg. The plane left me scratching my head, but I shrugged it off because I eat the cheese hand over fist. 😆

    I wonder how modern Germans "consider" this movie that celebrates the immolation of their erstwhile grandfathers. I have yet to see a modern German person who has witnessed the cheering of the crowd each time another German is dead. Of course, your grandfathers were responsible for the deaths of over 60 million people, Germans. I guess that is some kind of record.
    Perhaps this movie will be banned in Germany, because many in the audience will "object" to those who cheer out loud. However, I am one who WILL cheer out loud! And I can say it in German, but I won't here, because You tube will probably ban me.

      You bring up an interesting point I haven't thought about... would this movie be banned in Germany? I hope it isn't, but I understand why it would be too. Also, I only had one ancestor that fought in WW1, he was indigenous and I don't know much about it either. But I have no other relatives that I know of that fought in any other war.

  • @gagelindell271

    They made some dumb choices in this movie. The Nazi’s were COMPLETELY AWARE of how hard this guy is to kill yet about 6 times they could have shot him but just walk away. They could have done those scenes much better. This movie looked AMAZING, I wont knock that. But its just laughable really and very overrated.

    • @popcornbeard
      @popcornbeard  Рік тому +2

      I know what you are talking about my dawg. I think the concept of being blinded by the amount of gold is what clouded their leaders judgement. He was so driven by his own greed that he may have forgotten about the easiest way to go about killing him. I feel bad for his troops who just wanted nothing to do with Sisu and go home because the war was over. Then again, the whole movie is just over the top silliness that you kinda just go along for the ride too. I loved it, and can't wait to add it to my movie collection. :)

    No... I didn't see any JW correlation on this either.

    • @popcornbeard
      @popcornbeard  Рік тому

      Good old-fashioned marketing. But, I guess some of the combat sequences are JW inspired... but this movie is a polished Grindhouse Western at its core. Thanks for the comment.
