7:40 I always love when there some rich guy who's secretely evil and nobody seems to bat at eye when they see him. Most billionaires are saggy old men, not 7 foot tall behemoths with the body type that could be best described as "refrigerator with legs". Seriously, using April as a metric for the average woman (in the show) that would mean his shoulders are roughly 4-5 times as broad as hers, meaning his shoulders are roughly 8 feet wide. Imagine meeting the your new boss and he's spends the whole interview bench pressing your Honda Accord before eating a whole cow.
Moviefan2k4 Definitely seem more like the personalities from 03 to me. You can tell since the Foot's leader, Karai (or however you spell that), is from the 03 show.
munromister777 You spelled it right, but Karai was in the original '80s comics before the cartoons or films ever existed. Her origin's varied few times, but she's usually been depicted as second to the Shredder.
Mohd Amerul Aidil I don’t think it’s a reboot of any kind. The movie takes place after the shredder is defeated, I actually found that out in the video game based on the movie.
It did seem to be just a little too video-game esc. Never quite felt like I was watching a movie at any point, and didn't help the fact it was all C.G.I. with no live action mixed in at all either.
I actually enjoyed this movie alot. It made me into the TMNT series and movies. I understand why it's confusing, because, well I was confused at first.
Fun story from seeing this movie in the theater: went with some friends in the afternoon (we were all in college and a little toasted that afternoon) but scene where Leo & Ralph fight on the roof in the rain. A little boy behind me stands up on the edge of his seat and SCREAMS at the screen! “Nooooo! That’s your brother!!! You can’t fight your brother!” Of course me and my friends find this to be the most funny thing we’ve ever heard, I still laugh about it to this day 😂
TMNT, honestly, isn't that bad. It has great voice cast and animation, but suffers from feeling more like an unused plot from the 2003 series (and it doesn't help that the voice acting, while not at all the same voices, sound quite similar), being confused on whether it wanted to be a sequel to the original trilogy or a standalone universe (despite Turtles Forever confirming it IS a standalone universe), and making Leonardo a dick. It's also interesting NC says that parts of this movie feel like a video game, because ironically enough, director Kevin Monroe is directing the Ratchet and Clank movie that's coming out as well as the Sly Cooper movie.
@nathanblevins158 Yeah I don't really come back to this review because of that, also because I love this movie, it's one of the better ones in the franchise

Long ago in a distant movie... I, Mako, the shape shifting master of acting unleashed an unspeakably good performance. But a foolish Nostalgia Critic stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I opened a portal into the internet where fanboys came to my defense! And plunged the critic into the future that is Mako!
Yes. In addition, Shredder's theme music is chilling. I think they overplayed that yelling effect in most times (maybe everytime) his name is mentioned, seen or cameo in.
I actually kinda liked the idea of seeing the turtles all grown up dealing with adulthood. But I can't make a comparison since I've only seen the animated ones (PS. 2012 is the greatest one yet)
It occurs to me that neither of the last two movies (this one and last year's) have really explained Karai AT ALL. Maybe now that she's been recast for the second Dunes Turtles movie her role will actually be explained
@@cybercriminal3110thank you, that what I said. He the same guy that out sailor moon on the top 11 sexy characters. Even though she was a minor at the time.
The overreaction to NC making fun of Splinter's voice in this review was really stupid IMO. He didn't even know who Mako was at the time so him saying Splinter sounded like a heavy smoker was just a joke. How was he supposed to know that smoking killed Mako? But I guess the overly sensitive Mako fanboys didn't think about that.
so what if he didn't know? People didn't know at the time HE didn't know who Mako was. By your logic they should be getting a pass as well for being angry at such a jab
NC: is anyone gonna actually follow this plot? Me: wow, well, I could've sworn that child me was obsessed with the movie. And could follow the plot perfectly fine. But whatever, I was just a kid. Even though I still love and can still follow it all just fine, but I'm just a teen so.....
Cristian M. Not really. It’s a serious problem when the movie doesn’t even know it’s target audience. If it’s for fans, why do you need to have things that fill them in? If it’s not, why spend so little time on their backstory?
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I love this movie. I love the action, I love the voice acting, and I also love the fact that it took a different approach to the Turtles, following a ‘Where are they now?’ scenario.
Tmnt 2007 is the first animated movie based on the 2003 series and let you know the lady who lead the foot clean is Karia the Shredder Daughter and at the ending The Foot Clean Leader mean that ......... THE SHREDDER IS ALIVE! Thanks Nostalgic Critic for review:-)
Here’s something interesting to note. This film is set in the same universe as the live action movie trilogy from the 90s. In the scene where Splinter places Yaotl’s helmet and Raph’s Nightwatcher helmet on that shelf, you can also see Shredder’s helmet from the first movie, the TGRI Ooze Canister from Secret of the Ooze, and the Time Scepter from the third movie.
This movie is supposed to the follow the 2k3 series when it ended in 2k7. The last season, Back to the Sewer, ended on the 13th episode, with April and Casey getting married, which is why they are sharing an apartment. Karai, Shredder's "daughter" takes over the Foot Clan in the show, hence why she is seen leading the clan in this movie. As for Karai's line that the turtles would see familiar faces, in 2k9 before Mirage sold the license to the TMNT to Nickelodeon, they made a final movie titled Turtles Forever, which has the 2k3 turtles meeting the 90's turtles, and they all travel to "Turtle Prime" which end up being the "original dimension" to when the turtles first appear, i.e. the 1984 comic book. Prolly more than you wanted to know, but now you know.
***** Clearly you're more observant than I am! I had not noticed the Time Scepter, nor the canister. I also did not pay attention to the outfits the foot clan wore, at least, not closely. I saw the red dragon foot symbol and assumed it was following the 2k3 series! Well spotted!
Most of you guys are gonna think I'm crazy, but I love ninja turtles 2014 and I think the 2014 ninja turtles movie is 100 times better than ninja turtles 3
Am I the only one who wants to see him re-review this movie? I think he was WAY too harsh on it back then, and I'm curious if his opinion has changed at all.
The whole point of the Nostalgia Critic back then was to be harsh and even nitpick. That’s why he trashed most of the films he reviewed, because that was the point. He played an angry, retro reviewer. His character has mellowed out a bit more over the past decade or so and now his reviews are more objective, like Doug giving his honest reviews, rather than him playing angry review character.
Leo does actually have a time of self discovery, he looses his nerve after nearly being killed by Shredder. It causes a major rift between him and Rafael. I think the joke about none of the turtles recognizing Raph is how they are turtles and they don't notice the odd body frame. As far as the familiar faces line by the Foot, they do resurrect the Shredder, in the comic. Which is dark and horrifying because that was the comic.
6:40 I learned later this movie was more based off the original source material of the TMNT (which was a black and white 80s comics) and they were VERY BROODY. So it was always a huge surprise when we had a light hearted moment.
Oh, I loved this piece of film when I was a teenage. Maybe because I knew most of the lore details. This seriousness and conflicts between brothers were the exact things I LOVE about TMNT 00s series. So I still watch the film of 2007 (and play the game based on it) with great pleasure.
The foot leader's name is Karai. She was a rebooted character in the early 2000s ninja Turtles series collection. She was also the shredder's daughter. Just in case you were confused.

Yay that why I hate few nostalgia critic reviews. They kind of get me boil up.

6:53 Dude, don't be dissing Mako, God bless his soul.
He realised his mistake and pointed it out in his first "Top 11 f-up list"
Dillon Ohlemiller Fuck you
Marko sucks. Pussies.
Maria Munoz no he doesn't he is better than you dude
Lore Theorist I mean he’s dead so...
While I do like Mako, I will acknowledge that I didn't like his voice as Splinter. He did great as Iroh in Avatar the Last Airbender, and every other movie I saw him in, but I think there were other voices of Splinter that were better than him. Sorry Mako, nothing personal, and may you rest in peace.
Omnicidal Clown My you rest in peace? Haven't heard that one before.
Chozo Hunter Well excuse me for having sympathy towards a deceased actor.
Omnicidal Clown No, I meant that you spelled "may" wrong in your previous comment.
Omnicidal Clown I'm sorry, I wasn't criticising you or anything, just pointing out a typo. Probably should have been clearer about it when I first wrote it. -_-)
It’s funny how Doug didn’t realize the voice actor of splinter is the same voice actor of uncle iroh in avatar last air bender. Since he’s a big fan of the show
7:40 I always love when there some rich guy who's secretely evil and nobody seems to bat at eye when they see him.
Ummm interesting comment, but I don't know, lol
This is supposed to be a sequel to the 90's live action movies which is probably why they skipped the backstory
cyberGupi Not really; the designs and personalities have much more in common with the live-action films, compared to any other version.
rocknrolllives Precisely; why so many failed to understand that is beyond me.
Moviefan2k4 Definitely seem more like the personalities from 03 to me. You can tell since the Foot's leader, Karai (or however you spell that), is from the 03 show.
munromister777
You spelled it right, but Karai was in the original '80s comics before the cartoons or films ever existed. Her origin's varied few times, but she's usually been depicted as second to the Shredder.
Moviefan2k4
Oh, I didn't know that.
Strangely looks like Twilight Princess graphics
WittyBanter 96 I wonder why

@@cawag8046 because the director of the movie was involved in video game cutscenes
Funny because the studio that made this film was originally going to make a Zelda film.
Ahh the late 2000s the age of Wii Xbox 360 and Ps3.
We don't need to be told the origin story over and over again.
znyder: what? did you say do a 15 minutes sequence for an origin story in an over 2 and a half hour movie?

I don’t think it’s a reboot of any kind. The movie takes place after the shredder is defeated, I actually found that out in the video game based on the movie.
Latvian Dragon
I think there was an animated tv show, and that’s what the movie takes after. I never watched the show though.
Latvian Dragon
Well I don’t know. What’s the point of the movie then? You’d think it would just take place WAY after the animated set or something.
"...He just turns into golden sand." SPARKLE, SPARKLE, SPARKLE !!!

I remembered this as a live action movie, so when I was searching for it, I was surprised. Probably my first interaction with TMNT.
3:28 why is batman in Tmnt
Because he's BATMAN
They had a crossover
All these people are putting down the film for little to no plot before hand, here I am just accepting how it is.
The film has tons of plot.......
It did seem to be just a little too video-game esc. Never quite felt like I was watching a movie at any point, and didn't help the fact it was all C.G.I. with no live action mixed in at all either.
So let me get this straight, the turtles are:
Leonardo
Raphael
Donatello
and Ratchet
Two ratchets and deadpool 😅
I actually enjoyed this movie alot. It made me into the TMNT series and movies. I understand why it's confusing, because, well I was confused at first.
Fun story from seeing this movie in the theater: went with some friends in the afternoon (we were all in college and a little toasted that afternoon) but scene where Leo & Ralph fight on the roof in the rain. A little boy behind me stands up on the edge of his seat and SCREAMS at the screen! “Nooooo! That’s your brother!!! You can’t fight your brother!” Of course me and my friends find this to be the most funny thing we’ve ever heard, I still laugh about it to this day 😂
Well they got the teenage angst part of tmnt correct.
Yeah
The 2003 show was GOOD!!!
Understandable but the scene of splinter voice actor was harsh.
@nathanblevins158 Yeah I don't really come back to this review because of that, also because I love this movie, it's one of the better ones in the franchise
@@LeopoldLitchenstein plus some of the jokes were not funny, and his impression are not great here.

+Gaming Cu Vlad | GaminGHD.ro Is it any good?
+EnderHeart5911 It is basically a Prince of Persia game without the time manipulation mechanics
This movie will always be special to me, I watched it so much as a kid and always loved it.

Yep. People like to call it 2K3 series. my favorite TMNT series, regardless of... questionable decisions from the later seasons
Yes. In addition, Shredder's theme music is chilling. I think they overplayed that yelling effect in most times (maybe everytime) his name is mentioned, seen or cameo in.
Hell the current series is wonderful
***** I kinda want him to watch the Nickelodeon one....
It's actually more....decent than I expected...
I believe he's aware of it, and maybe watched a few. Perhaps vlog Nick Turtles after?
I actually kinda liked the idea of seeing the turtles all grown up dealing with adulthood. But I can't make a comparison since I've only seen the animated ones (PS. 2012 is the greatest one yet)
Ben Greene Which part?
+Ben Greene there is only 3 of them. 80 was too goofy and 03 tried way too hard to be serious and hip after season 3.
+Ben Greene so you admit 80s tmnt doesn't hold up?

While I grew up with the 2003 series this was the movie that I felt truly introduced me to the series so it has a special plamy heart.
I didn't see this movie, but Mickey and Leonardo are voiced by the two voice actors for Ratchet? Cool.
Yeah that is pretty neat isn't it
And Casey Jones in this movie is voiced Captain America himself, Chris Evans
AND Nolan North, aka Nathan Drake himself, is Raphael
It occurs to me that neither of the last two movies (this one and last year's) have really explained Karai AT ALL. Maybe now that she's been recast for the second Dunes Turtles movie her role will actually be explained
Hahahahahahaha this hasn't aged well haha waaaaaa😢

That April joke was basically Micheal bay version of her in a nutshell.
Xehanort10
Let's face it, it was just because it was the voice actor from Avatar, I doubt anyone would have cared if Mako hadn't been Iroh.
CruelestChris Yeah.
+CruelestChris Fuck that avatar bullshit. US folks born before 1995 remember how fucking bad ass Mako was in Conan the barbarian.

I've seen Conan, was born in 1982 and don't remember him in it. Was a while ago, admittedly.
so what if he didn't know? People didn't know at the time HE didn't know who Mako was. By your logic they should be getting a pass as well for being angry at such a jab
Let’s hope the Nostalgia Critic will be reviewing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem in the coming months.
He did in the Doug’s review and he liked it, but he says that the movie ended up being too XMEN at the end. I agree with him 👍
I think Lawrence Fishburne might be the excellent choice to play The Beyonder from Marvel's Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur.
Those rain affects looked fucking good for 2007
Holy shit, it's Iroh!
That's exactly what I'm saying. I loved this movie as a kid. I followed the plot fine (though maybe that's because I've seen it a million times)
dang, I feel old hearing Doug refer to the 2003 series as "the new show"
I like this movie but it seems like a season finale to a tv show that was never made. Also that would be an awsome show.
4:07 Nitpicking at its best
Cristian M. Not really. It’s a serious problem when the movie doesn’t even know it’s target audience. If it’s for fans, why do you need to have things that fill them in? If it’s not, why spend so little time on their backstory?
At least this movie is decent, and 100 times better than the Michael Bay production, god, that movie is so awful.
I like this movie a lot more than that God-awful Michael Bey atrocity.
That tends to happen when you put actual effort into your movie.
Banter Board At least Bay's Ninja Turtles had Kraang in it and was'nt based off the WORST NINJA TURTLES CARTOON BY 4KIDS
@Zak Strayder Flash Forward and Back To The Sewers
Man in 2007 that CG was considered good? It's amazing how far we've come since then
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I love this movie. I love the action, I love the voice acting, and I also love the fact that it took a different approach to the Turtles, following a ‘Where are they now?’ scenario.
Sheader is explained at the beginning, he dies.
Three words.......LEONARDO AND CLANK
what
Leo's voice actor does the voice of Ratchet from Ratchet and Clank
Mikey and Clank too for that matter
The girl is Shredder's "daughter"
Here’s something interesting to note. This film is set in the same universe as the live action movie trilogy from the 90s. In the scene where Splinter places Yaotl’s helmet and Raph’s Nightwatcher helmet on that shelf, you can also see Shredder’s helmet from the first movie, the TGRI Ooze Canister from Secret of the Ooze, and the Time Scepter from the third movie.
2:39 OK but that's LITERALLY the Mortal Kombat Armageddon intro
I’m really glad the 2kX thing has generally stopped being a thing, that was painful to read.
10:57 Yeah Casey... is there something you'd like to tell us??

Living Myth lol I didn't realize that
Am I the only one who wants to see him re-review this movie? I think he was WAY too harsh on it back then, and I'm curious if his opinion has changed at all.
The whole point of the Nostalgia Critic back then was to be harsh and even nitpick. That’s why he trashed most of the films he reviewed, because that was the point. He played an angry, retro reviewer. His character has mellowed out a bit more over the past decade or so and now his reviews are more objective, like Doug giving his honest reviews, rather than him playing angry review character.
18:34
And thus begins Doug's long history in comedic commercials
Since when did Ratchet from the Ratchet and clank series dress up as a turtle
Leo does actually have a time of self discovery, he looses his nerve after nearly being killed by Shredder. It causes a major rift between him and Rafael. I think the joke about none of the turtles recognizing Raph is how they are turtles and they don't notice the odd body frame. As far as the familiar faces line by the Foot, they do resurrect the Shredder, in the comic. Which is dark and horrifying because that was the comic.
NC: As you all know I love everything nostalgic Me: Hence your name.
6:40 I learned later this movie was more based off the original source material of the TMNT (which was a black and white 80s comics) and they were VERY BROODY. So it was always a huge surprise when we had a light hearted moment.

The foot leader's name is Karai. She was a rebooted character in the early 2000s ninja Turtles series collection. She was also the shredder's daughter. Just in case you were confused.
