Quadraxis will forever be my favourite boss in the Metroid series. When I was a kid I never had more goose bumps to any other boss than this one. Just seeing a lone bot in the middle of the room and the sheer size of this beast is enough to make you think *Holy shit I have to fight that? Hell Nah.. BROTHER!!* I had to get my older brother to try beat this and he even couldn't do it. Forgot we needed to use the Echo Visor to shoot the 2 antennas. Once we finally beat it we were awarded with the greatest beam in all the Metroid series. The almighty Annihilator beam. This game will forever hold a special place in my heart. Can't wait for Metroid Prime 4.
I remember I left my first playthrought just at that point, because I was afraid of fighting Quadraxis when I was a child. I remember that the fact that you were constantly losing life points because of the dark world made me feel really anxious! It happend similar years before with the Yakuza fight in Metroid Fusion and the later SA-X scene. I had to leave the game even if I was enjoying it a lot, because I couldn't bear the pressure. Fortunately, I could get over it when I grew up a little older, and now I even enjoy that pressure feeling. I'd love to see Trilogy in Switch and play it again :D

@@kirberburgy I feel like the ing instead of possessing some small splinters and then an alpha splinter for the sake of this encounter could have just strolled over a couple rooms and gotten the final energy controller. Maybe they were busy cleaning up Dark Aether for visitors
@@achelois3245 Actually the Ing can't survive naturally in the light world and so they need to possess light world creatures, creating "Darklings". They would've used those Splinters to infiltrate the energy controller room, but then Samus intervened.
1:29:57 This has to be the best moment in the game. The mutual understanding between both Samus is just so perfect. Both know that one has to die. And without so much as a long glare like their first meeting, they just aim at each other, and commence battling.
You know, I must say, I like how there's almost sort of a mutual respect between the two here. Like instead of surprise-attacking Samus behind her back, Dark Samus waits until she turns around. And when Samus turns around, she doesn't do a 180° and start blasting. She slowly turns, knowing that Dark Samus is waiting for her. Then when they do turn, it's not a "who shot first?" situation. They both slowly raise their arm cannons in unison. Then when Samus beats her at the end and Dark Samus slowly walks towards Samus, she doesn't finish her off or turn and leave. She stands there and waits. Compare this to her battles with Ridley. There, it's clear they hate each other's guts. To be fair though, he did sorta murder her parents :/
When I was 10 I literally just had to use the light beam and it killed him but the spider guardian made me want to rip out my jaw I’m still on the spider guardian
God, this game has some of the finest boss fights in gaming history. It is meant for the core gamer, which is a rare thing. Thank you so much for posting the most rewarding aspects of this game. When you beat those baddies, you feel extremely rewarded. My advice about those early bosses is to use the missiles more often (especially against the Jump guardian). It helps defeat it a lot faster.
The music in this game really captures that lonely feeling and that shadow world vibe they really killed it on music presentation for this game just like the other Primes
And also that fact the player in this video is not using seeker misslies against a stunned Light Chykka!!! It´s like not realising the benefits of the Power ups you just collected!!!
Ermm... You can tell Metroid Prime games were made with a lot of love and passion. Even at 4k resolution, the models, textures and environments were incredibly detailed, taking into account the games are from almost 2 decades ago, and an age when games could display millions of polygons on screen at 60fps.
I'm always in awe at the sheer spectacle of Quadraxis, the inventiveness of the Spider Guardian's puzzle-fight, and the tribalistic music of Emperor Ing's and Chykka's first form. But seriously, fuck the Boost Guardian.

I always really liked the Dark Samus fights because they felt like a proper version of the SA-X match in Fusion we never really got. Still, my favorite across the whole series is easily Quadraxis.
When I first did the Chykka boss fight. The screams that the adult form gave when u hurt it made me feel kinda sad for it, and felt sad after killing it. Will always be my favorite boss in the entire trilogy.
prime 1 and 2 are perfection very few games can do the whole 3d metroid/vania thing and get it right but the progression and "come back later to open this" value is all there. every single unlocked ability is utilized in some way for boss fights, and every platforming or weapon tool that the player is given is fully utilized. there are similar games where it's like "oh i can just spam this good ability i got early game" but metroid really forces you to use the large set of tools that you've earned on your mission only thing i disliked about 2 and onward was the lack of that ancient chozo ruins vibe to everything. prime 1 perfectly expressed everything that is the game universe of metroid
This games only major draw back for me was putting in an ammo limitation system for the primary beam weapons. That and Boost Guardian. Though now that I think about it a bit.. I suppose if it had unlimited ammo, Once people got the Annihilator beam, Every other beam type would just be useless to use.
This game was legitimately terrifying for me. You feel every hit, see reflections, and the atmosphere in general, down to the music and sound effects, just plain immersive. On top of that, the game misleads you into thinking it's the Nintendo formula. Wait for it to become vulnerable, kill it. Nope. They get harder until eventually they just go apeshit. Much like fighting a wild animal, down to the constant thrashing and you shitting yourself when your health is low. I think the boss I remember most is Alpha Blogg, namely because it's always the last boss I fight before I stop playing. I really need to finish this game.
Mother Brain lost her intimidation factor after a lot of attempts required to beat Ridley as the near death thing was just hoping not to have to try again. Not to mention she was a big target with easily avoidable attacks while Ridley was not always easy to hit and some of the attacks are insanely difficult to avoid.
I come here to mourn, for I have let myself down. I play the whole trilogy fairly regularly, around once or twice a year since I got the actual wii trilogy, which I got the day it came out. I've probably passed them 15-20 times each, and I can play through them in my sleep. Yesterday, I died in serious play for the first time (trilogy only; the Spider Guardian took me out the first few times on the GC). It was in the Training Chamber in Torvus Bog. I was playing on hypermode. Then the Dark Bloggs struck. All there was was yellow screen. I would get hit, then the screen would stay yellow long enough to get hit again. Each hit took over half an energy tank. I tried to escape in morph ball, but one got me, and I didn't think to power bomb out of it in time. 10 years of shredding through the games and I'm taken out by a couple of mooks.
As a kid, it didnt occur to me that Dark Samus was in fact Metroid Prime. I never made the connection. XD Imagine a scenerio where Samus and Dark Samus team up to fight a horribly mutated SA-X. Since Metroids where created to combat the X Parasite it would make sense that Dark Samus would have a natural hatred for them.
Much as I love Metroid Prime 2, Metroid Prime 1 had a much better atmosphere. It might also have to do with it having an actually smaller map, but that actually forced the developers to make the most of it.

I love Prime, but if you took screenshots of each of the environments and showed them to someone before playing the game, they might assume they are entirely different worlds. Fun fact: While it doesn't really show here (because this is the Wii version...and this has been modded to have 4K textures and run on Dolphin), it's noteworthy that, power-wise, the GameCube was superior to the Xbox and Playstation 2. Its unique (and small) storage medium is ultimately what hindered it. This game was a good showcase of that power
Terrible gameplay, but the graphics look simply amazing! Nice vid. Fun fact: A friend of mine once defeated the Boost Guardian in the Gamecube version, he was left with less than 10 units of energy, and the atmosphere killed him almost immediately because he couldn't grab any energy nor the power up... His face was priceless :P
Story time. When I was younger, I couldn't understand English very well. So when I got light suit, I read it's description and it said that I could now use beams of light to travel. My brain logically thought that if I ran into the light beam shot, I could travel on it. Kinda wishing there was a mechanic to do that.
What I love most about this game is how they're all connected to each other. In the first Prime, a Leviathan seed impacts Tallon IV and spreads its Phazon all over the planet destroying the Chozo. It's where you face Metroid Prime and once you defeat him, he absorbs Samus's Phazon suit and becomes Dark Samus. Then a Leviathan seed hits Aether, splitting the planet into two, creating a dark twin, which is home of the Ing. These games were awesome! Then prime 3 wraps up the whole story and puts together what happened to Aether and Tallon IV.

I was scared when I played Metroid games but now it’s kinda natural to me if I don’t play the games actual audio(this excludes the games before fusion btw)
The only thing I don't like about metroid boss fights is that almost all of them send out some kind of wave attack that goes across the floor which you have to jump over.

I really don't like the "Boss Defeated" popups that they added in the Wii version. It really kills the mood and reminds you that you're playing a video game. I'd rather just watch the thing die, hoping it stays down, rather than have some popup break the immersion.

Story time. When I was younger, I couldn't understand English very well. So when I got light suit, I read it's description and it said that I could now use beams of light to travel. My brain logically thought that if I ran into the light beam shot, I could travel on it. Kinda wishing there was a mechanic to do that.

there is a part before you enter the facility there is a beam of light and you can enter that to get an energy tank at the top

What I love most about this game is how they're all connected to each other. In the first Prime, a Leviathan seed impacts Tallon IV and spreads its Phazon all over the planet destroying the Chozo. It's where you face Metroid Prime and once you defeat him, he absorbs Samus's Phazon suit and becomes Dark Samus. Then a Leviathan seed hits Aether, splitting the planet into two, creating a dark twin, which is home of the Ing. These games were awesome! Then prime 3 wraps up the whole story and puts together what happened to Aether and Tallon IV.
Holy shit dude I did not know that. Wow
Now we wait to see what 4 brings to the table.

I pick the dark suit in Smash every chance I get.
The added details should have added extra defense to Samus. Not just to the bad air but against all types of enemies.
Spider Guardian was an interesting one. I like the idea of fighting it in morph ball

One thing i liked about the Wii-mote was being able to jump in morph ball mode w/o using the bombs, at least for when all you need is a quick hop.
I liked the aim part. Not only is it accurate, but translates quite well to the PC.
My dad and I played all 3 prime games like it was a religion.

The only thing I don't like about metroid boss fights is that almost all of them send out some kind of wave attack that goes across the floor which you have to jump over.
The Jumpball must have made the Spider Guardian a thousand times easier, or is it not available in Trilogy?

I really don't like the "Boss Defeated" popups that they added in the Wii version. It really kills the mood and reminds you that you're playing a video game. I'd rather just watch the thing die, hoping it stays down, rather than have some popup break the immersion.
Wait...Dark Samus' boost ball can be disrupted with a super missile?!
