I always love the surprise when people realize how expensive things are. As a musician, people often thing a tenor sax costs a few hundred dollars.... Cheapest student model you can get before taxes is $1600, for professional models brand new your looking at a few thousand or more. A new mouth piece? Anywhere from $30 to $300. One piece of music for the whole band (wind symphony or orchestra), about $100 for one piece of music, then your supposed to buy original parts for every member in the band (some people will photocopy the originals, but your technically not supposed to)
Wow... i get that the craftsmanship behind creating an instrument is intense, still sad that it consequently excludes so many people from being able to try themselves at playing music themselves. Just another argument for electronically simulated instruments i suppose. Sorry for the ramble. I love listening to saxophone music but the entire culture surrounding is rather difficult to wrap my head around.
It is pretty good because the amount of attachments and wheels would probably cost more than the most expensive one in that shop or whatever it is, I don’t know
I went skating a few months ago and I learned how to kind of skate. I’m getting really good at it now! I also love watching your videos they make me laugh so hard😂😊
Honestly thooo My dad bought me custom skates for Christmas (last pair he’ll buy me) and they were $370. Hella nice boots, abec 9 bearings, great wheels and toe stop I love those skates more than anything
for your first skates, just get some decent ones secondhand. i got mine for 20 bucks when theyre usually 60. (get them from someone who realized the hobby wasnt for them, not very worn-out ones)
Yeah i was at a skating ring last week and i spent 135 dollars on inclines and i have started skating once to twice a week with them and i really like them
I remember a customer got on the ice in a pair of ice skates they bought a week before for £40 and the skates just crumbled into oblivion the only part that stayed intact was the metal blade. They weren’t even overweight they were tiny lol
And my mom makes fun of me for having to have both my Moxi skates, and my Impalas…. Then I have my 2 PM rollerblades, and Razor Ripstick! Skate is important
He's right scates all have different styles, sizes, weels for different elements, so...drum roll please......wooh thare all different sizes, and the other thing he's right about is that states are not a toy its a hobby and if you wanted to start skating you should have at least 150$ set aside for the hobby. And remember as long as you set you mind on it you can do it, good luck hope this helps🤗
These prices took me out, I just spent $400 on inlines because I won't skate if it means getting my wide toes smashed together 💀 I've been wanting to get back to skating for over a decade and can't wait for them to get here! 🥰
They're shoes with wheels. And while that doesn't sound dangerous, it's caused plenty of injuries due to either inexperienced or reckless skating. They're expensive for a few reasons. Need to have quality skates for smooth gliding, especially for new skaters; can't have that with cheap ones. And most people aren't gonna pay bukoo bucks just to get kicked out or banned 5 minutes later for being reckless.
I paid 180 in the 80s but if you want good ones youve gotta go to the skate shop where they build them for you which means you buy the boot, trucks, wheels, laces, stoppers, everything separately. It could go up to $350. Most of it goes to the boot.
I remember thinking skates were really expensive too I mean not to this extent but the fact they (specifically rollerblades) can get up to 300 dollars so quick is pretty crazy I feel like people just ignore the fact that it's a whole boot, so it already goes further than a regular shoe buckles and stuff included plus the frames, wheels, all the hardware and the bearings especially when you're trying to get quality skates with quality liners, bearings and stuff, including which type of skate or even boot they are I think people just gotta think a little harder
I would say skates would be a toy, HOWEVER, thats not to say that spending a ton for them is a ripoff, its actually a very responsible price for something as useful and fun as skates
i got insanely lucky- i went to a community garage sale and someone was selling skates with extra bearings, all of the safety equipment, and bags. sadly the zipper of the bag for the skates broke, but overall… it cost me TEN BUCKS. and the skates aren’t shitty at all!! seriously i got so lucky cause i was looking for a pair to learn on.
Eh, I grew up getting cheap skates, usually around $40-$60 and they were always fine for what I did (just skating around). I've never tried really nice expensive skates so I can't really compare. For all I know it might be like comparing those cheap RC cars at walmart, that sure, they're fun, but when I actually spent $250 on a traxxas, it was a whole new hobby.
HI THERE!!! IM A BIG FAN AND HAVE A QUESTION!! So this may sound crazy but I go to the exact interstate you work at and I actually came up to you once and asked for a picture while you were cleaning tables! I was wondering you remember that at all??
I get this issue when ppl ask me what to buy their animals I explain by saying anywhere from 15-500 and they’ll give me their range and we go from there
My mom's speed skates from the 80s are still holding strong because she invested in their hardware and wheels; they're my babies now. Theyre worth quite a bit due to this, yet someone actually tried to be like "oh i can get those for $20 on Amazon" - uhhh.... 😂 Have fun with them falling apart in 2days!
I work at a roller skating rink and have been for 2 years. I love skating and I am really good since I’ve been practicing for over 8 years. I’ve only had one pair in that time that was super cheap so I finally saved up and bought riedel skates for $860. They are extremely expensive but they are worth the price (trust me) when I tell people how much they were tho they think I’m crazy even though I wanted skates with all the bells and whistles that would last me basically forever even with heavy use
Even cheap skates in the early 80s cost more than her price range 😂
yo, I'm not trying to be rude, but I don't even think they had roller skates back then
They came out with them in the90s

You can actually get an instrument for cheaper if you are buying in bulk for a school orchestra.
@@ugandianos_ You can get them for way cheaper if you are willing to sacrifice quality or buy used.

Honestly $80 for a good pair of skates doesn't sound so bad. Idk why I was expecting them to cost like $200 for a low end pair lol.
Look, they are toys.
But you aren't seeing people saying Legos are cheap.
“They are between $40 - $200 depending on what you’re looking for”

Skates are in fact toys. They were made for people to have fun, hence it being a toy
Idk why but I thought they'd be more comparable to ice skates 180's really good in comparison
Anything under 60 should be considered a toy
my figure skates are around $1,000 which is honestly on the cheaper side, and many people think that $100 is an outrageous price.
If you're looking to just practice on the road I would suggest looking at small threads or goodwill because you can get them for cheap to practice
