Will, you did sit-ups but the PFT consist of crunches (much easier). You could definitely knock out 110 cause you just sit there and rock back and forth.
I loved watching this, I am in the Army and man I love your reaction. After a while of eating them you eventually get really used to the MRE’s and you actually begin to love them!
Fun fact, TFF in MRE units usually are shortened ways of saying trans fat free. Trans fats used to be surprisingly common and in tiny amounts they are still used in those weird peanut butter pastes found in some processed foods

For the “crunch” portion of the USMC PFT; cross your arms by grabbing the opposing bicep, and you only have to touch your elbows to your lower thigh, then go back down until your shoulder blades touch the deck (ground). If you knew how the crunches were done you would most likely have passed, otherwise good job.
The real trick to MRE's is to use the spreadable cheese packages as currency, you can pretty much buy anything you want from anyone after the first week if you use those to barter. Also, most of it is better if you warm it up with the heating elements they include or some other way.

@@yoursilly2106 unfortunately he didn't realize he was suppose to be doing crunches, but he also did chin ups instead of pull ups. Just a couple oversights, very impressed with his run though.
You hit the jackpot with that vanilla pudding. Best thing to ever be put into an MRE. A lot of Marines complain about them, but I actually really enjoy the MREs. I do agree with your comment about variety, tho. Also, when we do the crunches for the PFT, we don't have to go that high. Just elbows to thighs. They're getting rid of the crunches and replacing them with the plank for time, anyway.
The 2nd portion of the test is actually supposed to be crunches instead of sit-ups which don’t require as much effort. There’s technique behind it as well. I was always taught to just make sure your shoulder blades touch the ground, so you roll you shoulders forwards slightly to push them out more and then you’re supposed to wrap your arms over each other touching your elbows with your hands and keeping them to the core of your body just barely sliding them to touch your legs. You also bring your body as close to you legs and keep as little as a gap in your thighs and calves to cut out unnecessary space that takes more time. I always made sure to also keep my neck up and as tight to my chest as it helped roll the shoulders forward better and hold it. Doing all of that and being decent with abs makes it very easy to pass that portion of the test with a perfect score. I usually just crank it out max energy all the way to 90 or 100 and then give myself 3-5 second breaks in between however many I can knock out next. This makes it so that I would usually finish with 130-150 depending on numerous factors. Still getting under 19 minutes in the run is very impressive if you ask me. My best run was 19:03 and I finished first out of everyone there. I hadn’t even realized how far ahead I was from everyone else. I just didn’t know the trail we were running and just stuck with the head of the pack until the halfway mark and just took off running after that cause I felt they were gonna slow me down if I played it safe so I wouldn’t get lost. I got “rewarded” by my sergeant with “special attention” in PT workouts for dusting everyone there.
At the start of MCT, we all loved eating the MRE's; had no issues with them right up to the end of the month long training. By the time we got to our schoolhouse for our MOS training a week after the hike back from Camp Devil Dog to Camp Geiger, we literally couldn't stomach MRE's anymore. It wasn't even that we had gotten sick of them after eating only MRE's for a month straight and then having a week of chow hall food, we quite literally had trouble bringing ourselves to eat them even when we were hungry.
MRE’s are genuinely not that bad, some are actually good and you get excited for like beef brisket or the vegetarian crumble. Also, I’ve never really had an issue pooping after eating them but I also drink a lot of water
Not to take away from the cardio base that you have already but you probably have to change up your routine and include more speed and interval training. I’ve heard that running longer distances will not make a person run a faster 1.5 or 3 mile, and it makes sense
Michael Wang, he isn't wrong, bro. I'm in the military, and that's how we train. Monday is a long run Wednesday speed work and Friday longer speed work
So, from what I saw you had the civilian emergency relief MRE. If you were looking for more variety the brown MREs typically have a bit more to them. However, most MREs are about the same. Also, everything is dehydrated so having water on hand to eat these foods is a must. The meals are designed for service members that are in field environments which is why they're so high in calories. That heavy feeling in your stomach is another well known issue that service members often joke about. The idea behind it is that bathroom breaks in the field are minimized. Also, military troops rarely eat an entire MRE in one sitting. The bags are field stripped to streamline packing your ruck, assault pack, or butt pack. Entrees are typically eaten as a main source of calories. Everything else is used as a snack. I don't know anyone that drinks those cocoa beverage powders. Kudos to you.

Will, I feel like you are missing an opportunity man. The new US Army ACFT is great content for a video. Maybe a follow up? Obviously I'll watch either way. My first Tim Hortons experience was actually at Fort Knox, Kentucky while I was stationed there. Sadly, I'm in DC now and the only way to get Timmy Ho's is to try to make friends with the Canadian embassy staff since I'm pretty sure they get their fix with donuts shipped inside diplomatic packages.
Hey there, Canadian friend. It’d be great to see you do this with Canadian content!! Try the Canadian rations, called IMPs, and the Cooper’s PT test that our SF guys have to pass! 🇨🇦🇨🇦 Eh!
Other reason you don't put the powder into your canteen....no dish soap in the field. Also, Will, don't feel bad about only getting 64 crunches. We had a saying: "if you don't get max crunches, you don't have a friend in the corps". Crunches are counted by your partner, and there's a little quid pro quo that usually goes on there. Finally, Will's reaction to the meatballs, when he first says "it's not that bad" then realizes ".....oh no.....it's bad" is a pretty relatable MRE experience.
He actually did situps instead of crunches which is what made him slower. He almost passed even doing the harder version so he likely would have passed the easier version

Day 6 of Quarantine.
Will uploaded a video. Everything is gonna be okay.
12:46 "I feel the balls" Such a relief.
"What does TFF stand for?"
Answers himself at 6:00 and doesn't even notice
Haha. Hopefully he sees this
MRE’s are genuinely not that bad, some are actually good and you get excited for like beef brisket or the vegetarian crumble. Also, I’ve never really had an issue pooping after eating them but I also drink a lot of water
Actually died from his reaction when he tried to chew that second bar
When you in the desert that bar is just as soft as a warm shit. Looks like it to but taste decent 😂😂😂
Your humour’s as dry as those crackers and I love it😂
I’ve done cardio probably 5-6 days per week for the last 2 years of my life, i don’t think I could even crack 18 minutes for 3 miles
Mtb Lifestyle doing one 6 minute miles for me is a lot. Doing 3 of those in a row is above my skill
Not to take away from the cardio base that you have already but you probably have to change up your routine and include more speed and interval training. I’ve heard that running longer distances will not make a person run a faster 1.5 or 3 mile, and it makes sense
@@Justin_GFM what should one do then greg doucette? lol. short intervals?
Michael Wang, he isn't wrong, bro. I'm in the military, and that's how we train. Monday is a long run Wednesday speed work and Friday longer speed work
@@michaelw7327 u don't train 50km marathons to prep for a 100 meter sprint mr.wang
Those intros are so creative. 17:51 btw
gyms are closed, I miss lifting weights so bad..
“3/10”
*Steve1989MREInfo wants to know your location*
Lmfao doesn't even get it out spread on to a tray!!!! How rude lmao Steve also gives those intense and emphasis into describing the texture and decadence of eachbite!!!🤣😂 niice! I like will just came across this channel.......last week I'm gunna say I'll be here to stay thumbs up for me!!👌👍👍👍👍🤙
This would be a god level collab
You should do the ACFT, Army Combat Fitness Test! It’s a lot harder than old physical fitness test, not too many people have scored a perfect score.
James McDonald I think the Marine PFT is hard enough lol.
It’s also hard to fail the ACFT too....
“Oh that’s bad!” 😂 I loved the cocoa powder drink! My favorite!
As a marine I beg you to start an MRE company 😅 also must be a Canadian thing Ive never in 8 years gotten a protien bar we have these little carb bars that turn into literally bricks in the cold.
12:46 that's what she said
😂😂😂
You didn’t get the fun heat up types. Missing out!
"Smells like I just walked into a so so Italian restaurant...so I don't think i'll get my hopes up" LMAO
"A spice pound cake, thats nice" lmfao that had me fucking rolling.
Only been watching for a few days and love your vids! Keep up the good work!
This brought back to flashbacks when we had to eat MREs at Basic Training lol, best one was the Chilli Mac or the one that had the sour skittles in it
MARVEL: we are making the most ambitious crossover ever.
will tennyson and matt does fitness: HOLD MY CREATINE
Sup Olie! Look'in buff dude! 0:29 That's my Will...20:02 LMAO! Will, you're the best! 10:00 Well 2 out of 3 ain't bad! Thanks for the rad video! Bon Appétit :)
I love this guys youtube page. He can easily be a comedian if he tried.
Pro tip. Crush up the crackers before you open the bag then pour them into the meatball packet
15:38 I laughed so hard for some reason
Same 💀💀💀
Hey there, Canadian friend. It’d be great to see you do this with Canadian content!! Try the Canadian rations, called IMPs, and the Cooper’s PT test that our SF guys have to pass! 🇨🇦🇨🇦 Eh!
You have quickly become my favorite youtuber.
Your dog is about the cutest thing on earth Rn. That sneeze was too cute
bruh at 5:22, this is the only time we've seen will tenny somewhat resemble a smile 😂
Clicked when you said "trans fat free." TFF!
Insane vid bro keep it up man your dog is an actor dude
The production value in every video is top notch. Honestly some of the best on UA-cam 💯 😂👌
Hey heads up, just so you know Marines are only called Marines and a soldier is from the Army.
GUNS Rumzi we don’t fight in trenches anymore either
Its almost like he isnt military so therefore doesnt know military terminology
Partially correct...we're also called leathernecks, jarheads, and devil dogs.
Bud we don't eat three in a day. Your stomach must have been killing you the next day.
Takes out all the items and I'm half
expecting "Now lets get this out onto a tray...nice"
top tier comment right here sir
You have to try the Canadian version, they’re called IMPs. They’re not that much better but still pretty good
seriously the most underrated channel
lmao i can still remember the way these things taste because this is all we had to eat during hurricane katrina, the smell still haunts me
Ollie’s sneeze in the beginning 🥺
Let's get this out onto a tray.........Nice!
Can't eat MREs without mentioning my man, Steve.
5:13 "that would probably make the situation just a LITTLE bit worse" 😂😂😂😂 cracked up
As a cross country and track athlete, I am most excited to see the running
"I can feel the balls, but they are not very big, they are like pellets"😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
