The volume/tuning knobs are becoming as desirable as a manual transmission these days. Great review as always.

I've been waiting for you to review the Odyssey since we bought our Touring back in July. I can firmly attest to the lower average fuel economy. The highway is great (I've achieved 36mpg) but in the city we are only getting 16-18mpg. Our infotainment does glitch once in while (not a big deal) but has great features. The 10 speed has been awesome. The "magic seats" are more useful than stow-n-go. The 3rd row is truly big enough for adults. We'd definitely buy it again and are very happy with our first minivan. We chose this over a 3-row mid-size crossover. Basically your review was spot on.

Wife leaving her boat like 2015 Sienna and now debating 2018 Odyssey vs. Pilot. I was wowed by the Odyssey, but Pilot nice too.

I wish Honda would offer AWD for the Odyssey.

How does this compare to the upcoming Sienna? I like the AWD.

Very nice, however not only is that gear selector push button, but it is in a terrible spot where it looks like you have to really reach for it. It was really hard choosing between the Odyssey and the Sienna for us. We went with the Sienna because we've been a Toyota/Lexus household for quite a while and that Toyota reliability we've experienced is hard to argue with. Once again, great review Sam!

Not as far as you had to reach to make that a complaint ;P

Thanks for a great review! I'm debating between this and the '18 Pacifica hybrid if Chrysler can get them to dealers.

Cav, we chose the Odyssey over the Pacifica hybrid because we felt the hybrid isn't completely ready for prime time. They are having issues with the computer management system and had to halt production and stop selling them temporarily. Get an Elite or Touring Odyssey and in a couple years if you still want a Pacifica hybrid trade it in. Good luck.

Is the 2018 Honda Odyssey lighter in the weight when driving? Is it very different from the previous Gen odyssey?

Maybe I missed it; did you mention the push button transmission control? Did you get used to it or did you miss a traditional gearshift control shaft/handle?

It's a minivan, not a sport sedan where you would expect a driver intuitive control set.

You should switch it up and drive in the mountains with snow covered roads

Who’s going to drive this thing empty? Test loaded. Weight of 4 people. 14 15 mpg? More squeaks and rattles?

Buyer beware of inferior Honda Odyssey transmission failure. You've been forewarned.

I simply can't buy this Honda Odyssey. The entire dashboard/instrument cluster/shifter is a terrible design. It is overall UN-intuitive, hard to use and Un-attractive. I don't understand why Honda doesn't just stick with a more traditional design to dashboard and instrument cluster (and shifter). This area is VERY important. Honda apparently thinks it can improve everything by changing everything. If you ask me it has changed everything for the (much) worst. Honda, just give us MORE large knobs, a traditional shifter and traditional Dash layout. The rest of this Honda Odyssey is actually pretty good. Nice steering wheel, ride, quietness, etc. The only other this that I didn't like is the how low the vehicle is. I like a minivan that sits up (much) higher for a better driving view.
