I came across your interview today. All the way from Southern California. Your work is breathtaking. I love your simplicity of approach. Your expression to detail within the simplicity. Egg Tempra sure is a beautiful medium. I love how you say inspiration comes in the process itself. I have often waited for the inspiration to ignite within in me first but I was always left empty. I finally experienced it in the act of doing. Thank you for sharing your gift with everyone. Your paintings are really wonderful. I wish I could own one but I quite poor. lol Blessings upon you. bro.Mark

This is the painting I have always dreamed of. Your style is telling a tale, teaching, and painting, all at the same time, lyrically, calmly weaving, with the grass, a haunting story. Thank you. I am enchanted.

Hello, I very like your videos, do you think birch plywood and MDF (HDF) is the best for egg tempera? 2- For large pictures (in. 50 x 30 in.) Do I need a thickness of 18 millimeters? I am waiting for answering, thank you.

Colin I need your advice, Ive recently gotten into egg tempera and was enjoying its advantages until I took a wet brush over areas and found the paint to be less than permanent. Yup a little scrubbing was all it took to wash the paint away. I let it dry for a day or two and even other paintings that Ive let dry for a few days seem to be the same way. what do you think Im doing wrong?

seems like not enough binder to me.

It might help if you put a very thin glair (10% egg yolk 90 water mix) over the dry area of paint. Then when it dries you can add other colours on top (for shading or highlights) without rubbing the under layer off.

Are you using the proper gesso? There's a video on using the correct type of gesso for egg tempera.
