THIS WAS THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF TALENT IN HISTORY. THESE TWO GENTLEMEN HAD MORE TALENT IN THEIR PINKY THEN WHAT YOU SEE IN HOLLYWOOD TODAY. THAT WAS THE GOLDEN ERA.
With just these two, I agree there is a LOT of talent, but Danny and Louis would later play together with Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Lionel Hampton, Mel Powell, Buck and Bubbles, and more in "A Song Is Born."
With all due respect, The Five Pennies in 1959 is not really remembered that well. I’ll take High Society in 1956 with Bing Crosby. Louis and his band both open the film as well as close it. Then, of course, you add in Frank Sinatra and Grace Kelly.
There must have been 3 billion dollars worth of talent on that stage during this production. Watching Lous Armstrong and Danny Kaye is like seeing Michelangelo sculpt and Da Vinci paint. A true template for all others to follow.
September 2023. I just watched A song is born with these two fabulous gentlemen, and many others in it, last night! A fabulous movie with an incredible line up. Awesome music too! Nothing nowadays comes close.
@Jerry Kinnin......thank God for you truckers...you are the heartbeat 💓 of America. Without truckers we are doomed. If you eat it, use it, wear it or touch it....it came by truck! God Bless you all.....keep Rollin Jerry! 🚐 🚚 🚌
They were so good because they loved what they did, and one of the magical things that happens when you love what you do is that you can enter a state of flow. Practically from the beginning of the song they are in this state, but it is seen in its greatest dimension at minute 2:52
Holy Cow! This is one of the most AMAZING duets from two of the most talented performers in Hollywood history!! Armstrong and Danny Kaye were great on their own...but put them together here....the result is pure magic! I'm sure you're both now making the angels smile in Heaven. :))
I feel distant. This was posted eight years ago. Today, 40k views, 31 comments. Yet a funny puppy video can get two million views and 40 thousand comments in under a year. I have to admit it is a bit of a struggle for me to square that. I used to watch these shows when I was ten years old, and they were already almost 20 years old then. We only had a black and white tv, so if they were in color, I didn't know. I was mesmerized by the passion, the energy and the talent. I would become swept away imagining myself there when it was happening, dancing with them.
@@jiannisDimi I am actually asking myself how much of this (great) video is digitally restored. The sound alone sounds so good for that time, and I would love to know how they restored the audio. no way this came out like this in 196x something
What a gem of video to have these exceptional folks together. I couldn't have enough of Danny Kays comedy and energy and acrobatics and Louis Armstrong's singing in his unique voice and huge smile. Both are national treasures... Wow! This was a the best gift I received in years. Wonderful! Thank you.
Yep...& Louis Armstrong's contribution to Hollywood movies was phenomenal. High Society & On Her Majesty's Secret Service (James Bond theme) to name just two.
This was One of the first movies about Trumpet players that I Saw as a Young Man. This movie was inspirational in my development as a young Trumpet player. There were other memorable movies that I watched, also like Kirk Douglas in the man with a horn and the often overlooked Sammy Davis Jr in a Man called Adam.
Wonderful performance! Either of these two dudes on their own is fabulous to listen to, but together, they're just totally incredible! Fantastic!!! 😁
Never saw this before. Not sure why not. It’s fabulous. 👏 🎉
The scatting in the end was unbelievably powerful and under control. 😳
If you never saw this film (The Five Pennies), this scene is the best, but the movie will have you in tears.
Très beau film.
So true
Two legendary singers singing together in one of the best performances ever. I really love this 😃
Oh so classic!!! Wonderful, Wonderful, wonderful!!!

Que no te quepa la menor duda Norman.
Amen.
I was very young (8) and loved to watch them on 📺. I too miss watching good old movies. 😢

Always wanted to see this picture. Thanks!
Danny Kaye was a great mimic, but I prefer Bing Crosby with Louis 3 years earlier in High Society.
We must continue to share this talent with the universe!
Two of my favorite people. Their combined talents made this song unforgettable. I miss them. 😢
Thank you 🙏 I appreciate never seen this great 👍 one ☝️🎺🕺🏼🎷🥁👍👏👏👏👍🎥

I'm sitting in a line of trucks at a railroad waiting my turn to get loaded. Listening to great music. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME.
Thank you Jimmy, fellow trucker. Good for you. God is good.

Wow!!! The power of these super stars
Danny Kaye was pure talent
Those people were really talented. The world will always remember them.
I so, so love both these men! Both brilliant. ❤

Oh myhosh!! I have to save this one. It is fantastic!! Love Louis! Danny is good and funny. Beautiful.
I can remember seeing this scene in the film when I was just 3 years old. Amazing, really. That must have been in 1961 or 1962.
They were so good because they loved what they did, and one of the magical things that happens when you love what you do is that you can enter a state of flow. Practically from the beginning of the song they are in this state, but it is seen in its greatest dimension at minute 2:52
Outstanding archive in stereophonic soundtrack, a must !😁
What an era.
Two of my favourite performers of all time
Wow this is so great I love these old songs I remember them years ago Thankyou for sharing this video
Good old days of jazz, , blues and boogie
Fantastic. I saw them years ago in London
One of my favorite movies to watch late-night as a teen. And again during new baby's late night Daddy's 'feeding' turn.
A great number. They had fun preparing it and still have fun performing it. So well rehearsed that it seems impromptu. Bravo depuis Montréal.
К сожалению,ушли безвозвратно те времена когда ты просто наслаждался жизнью,никуда не спеша,слушая музыку души.🇧🇬🙋♀️👍👍👍
Yep...they are trying to destroy AMERICA AS WE KNEW IT.

Great times … so much talent!
Amazing version A plus perfect 10
That's REAL music!😁❤
Damn, that is a lot of talent right there. So good.
Danny trying to mimic Louis' rough voice had me in stitches. Good grief, that was funny.
That has got to be the best musical performance ever recorded! A must watch and listen for ALL!
Yep...& Louis Armstrong's contribution to Hollywood movies was phenomenal. High Society & On Her Majesty's Secret Service (James Bond theme) to name just two.
What a joy to find this- stunning!
For me there no other word than fantastic!!
Pure joy! Thanks for posting this.
An other time, An other world. Merci beaucoup from Paris France 😁
