And he shows them, pearly white
Just a jackknife has MacHeath, dear
And he keeps it out of sight

Bet you Mack, he's back in town

But none of them were the original from Die Dreigroschenoper (The Threepenny Opera). By Berthed Brecht, try his version or perhaps Lotte Lenya's version (wife of Kurt Weill). These give the best feeling of 1920/30's Germany. An accurate modern version comes from Ute Lempe.

Just to point out to those calling this a cover Louis Armstrong was the first to release this as a song in it's own right (having been in the Three Penny Opera before) and he certainly sang it long before Bobby Darin or Sinatra who then covered it so due respect to the origin of the song and remember it was released in '56 so tastes and arrangements were not quite what your current taste may be.

P.S from wiki..."Mack the Knife" or "The Ballad of Mack the Knife", originally "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer", is a song composed by Kurt Weill with lyrics by Bertolt Brecht it premiered in 1928!

WOW!!! I find it amazing the nasty, evil, mean-spirited comments that ppl will post on social media....just awful....singing is all relative and left open to the listener's interpretation.....there are those that will love some singers voices while not liking others (MJ sold millions of records, but not everyone on the planet was a fan. Just because someone can hold a note does not mean that they can sing. a true singer is one who is blessed with charisma in their voice that will appeal to listeners n hold their attention....Louie Armstrong had a very unique singing voice and was an accomplished trumpet player...he is not talking the song he is singing the song....And he had far more than 2 hits...the man had a 40yr successful career and was one of the highest-paid entertainers of his time. not to mention that he did this as a black person during a time when segregation n racism was rampant.....Yes, ppl are entitled to express their opinion but to do it in such a nasty mean spirited disrespectful way is just uncalled for!!!

"Mack the Knife" or "The Ballad of Mack the Knife" (German: "Die Moritat von Mackie Messer") is a song composed by Kurt Weill with lyrics by Bertolt Brecht for their 1928 music drama The Threepenny Opera (German: Die Dreigroschenoper). The song has become a popular standard recorded by many artists, including a US and UK number one hit for Bobby Darin in 1959.

Why do people comment w- lyrics? What's the point? We can just look them up if they're not included w- the video.

Dig, man! There goes Mack The Knife
Oh, the shark has pretty teeth, dear
And he shows them, pearly white
Just a jackknife has MacHeath, dear
And he keeps it out of sight
When the shark bites with his teeth, dear
    Scarlet billows start to spread
Fancy gloves though wears MacHeath, dear
So there's not a trace, mmm of red
On the sidewalk, Sunday mornin', baby
    Lies a body, oozin' life
    Someone sneakin' around the corner
Is the someone, Mack the Knife?
From a tugboat, by the river
    A cement bag's drooppin' down
Yeah, the cement's just for the weight, dear
Bet you Mack, he's back in town
Looky here Louie Miller, disappeared, dear
    After drawing out his cash
And MacHeath spends like a sailor
Did our boy do somethin' rash?
    Sukey Tawdry, Jenny Diver
    Lotte Lenya, Sweet Lucy Brown
Oh, the line forms on the right, dears
Now that Mack, he's back in town
    Take it, Satch

My dad brought me to see all the greats when I was a kid. When I was older I saw all the great 70's and 80's bands. Louie to Led Zeppelin. Dean to Def Leppard. Frank Sinatra to Marshall Tucker. Great memories and great music.

Love this. I came across Dinner Party Radio on Pandora and fell in love with this style of music. That say's a lot for me, since I'm a Metalhead.
