it looks like the padded line by the hinge is stuck on with strong adhesive on mine, and yet taking the 4 screws around the corners out doesnt allow the back to come off. any advice?

With some effort it does come off. I was initially concerned about putting the padding back in place after replacing the battery, but it turned out to he pretty straightforward.

What type of screwdriver do you use?

Philips 000 for the first 3 and something smaller than a Torx T6 for the 4 corner ones I assume a T4 but need to buy one to confirm.
