Now that’s diabolical, it happened to me. I swear I think I screamed since I was super geared then I seen that smoke and I was like “oh, stop being a little bitch”😂😁
In the Arma 2 Dayz Mod it was actually useful when you cleared missions so you wouldn't get sniped while looting.
Those Epoch servers were wild lol.

I miss Epoch. I used to bring cheap rifle and go hunting for bandit bots to get better loot, then save money to buy a vehicle. I know it's not realistic like the present DayZ but it had so many fun features.
Wish the smoke cloud on these was a bit bigger. I usually just stick 'em on my vest to look tacticool, or so I can annoy the shit out of my friends later.
I think they would deffo do that if they could its just very taxing on the server if they made it really big.
Elden Ring has a fog spell i feel the same about
You can pull the pin and pop it back on ur vest or in your inventory so the smoke comes from your body

@@wonkydonk9073 you should try pvp servers with boosted loot and airfield spawns and give it a go, can help sometimes when your trying to move through a building without getting sniped
I once was saved by it, specially the black one, you can equip it on your vest and be a harder target, works good if you are caught on open fields with no cover
if me and my buddy get caught on a roof and one of us gets hit uncon, i usually toss smoke to somewhat blind the enemy so he can limp back to shelter(takes about 2-3 smokes)
Zombies are also attracted to the smoke grenade, so if you have a horde on you throw one and they should go away
Trip wire plus smoke, makes a non lethal trap, also a hell of a physiological weapon, since as soon as they hit it they think "oh shit a grenade" and it's just a smoke
Physio is the body, psycho is the mind. Physiologically it does nothing, psychologically it messes with their head

Good diversion tool, plenty of times have i been pinned and used it as a distraction… ive also used it a few times battling large groups in towns… wait till they go into a building and pop a smoke by them to alert the zombies… since they wont know your location you can use it as an opportunity to drop 1-2 of them while they fight zombies
People LOVE staring at smoke nades it's really useful for diverting player's perception away from ya.
I've used one to signal to a big group that I was nearby, then started talking to them and actually ran with them for a few days
Legit one of the scariest moments in dayz, pop smoke and see if anyone is around. Then there’s hoping they maybe friendly
I mostly use them for looks on my vest, but also to obscure a sniper’s vision of my path if I’m crossing an open area where I’m being engaged or am likely to be engaged.
Or to signal to friends where I am if we’re trying to meet up and don’t care about being obvious about it.
I remember being in a fight where my sniper friend couldn't pin the enemy positions. I usually carry green and red ones so went on a hail Mary and tossed the red ones in a few buildings. Safe to say he got the point of where to shoot. But didn't know you could use them to mask your foot steps (new ambush tactic?)
Don't forget there's another use of smoke grenades is that to close the gap between you and your enemy so you can stun lock them
Most people don’t realize IRL smoke is used offensively and defensively. In the game I use them for concealment or traps but I also use them to mark locations where people are so my team can have a good sense of direction and distance callouts using the smoke.
Always gotta' keep one or two! One of my favorites is when you're in cities, makes building hopping since it basically covers the whole street, sneak around some buildings, now they think you're in one or the other building between the smoke, and you turn right behind them. Hell, I'll use smoke grenades over frags any day. One frag can get a kill or 3, one smoke can revive your whole team and help them flank for the game win.
Yes and we had practical uses for them when I was running my server
Along with concealment noise barrier and as you said attracting all those lovely infected
We actually had a system of colored smoke red being danger yellow being approached with caution green meaning the area is cleared out and purple medical assistance is needed.
White and black those ones are self-explanator
The problem with that is you can't tell what color they are going to be until you pop then right ?

My trio and I were about to loot the airbase when we saw a team use them to cover their movements, and numbers. We turned around and snuck away as their skill level was way more advanced than ours, lol.

a random player has helped me when I was surrounded by zombies at a roof in military zone, by tossin a smoke for distraction ( it is in one of my DayZ video 😁)😊
I have used smoke grenades to get myself out of buildings before.
If only have one way out, and you know someone is aiming a gun at that door? Dropping a smoke can be just enough to get you out.
They're great for tactical retreats. I was outnumbered and pinned behind a tree in the middle of nowhere and popped a few to the right of me. It gave me enough concealment to escape.
One thing I always keep a Smokey for is when I’m running through an open area if I get shot at I pop it & attach it to my vest as I serpentine run to cover 😂
I use them in emergency situations to get away like Batman, they can be used as a diversion and to confuse the opponent
from what i know of how smokes work, if your working with a large co-op group in a co-op/pvp server, you could also use it to mark an extraction site
I always take them mostly to decorate my vest, but also they have been handy in some situations. But i always swap them for grenades if i find those instead
Smokes are very useful in all fps games, i once had my body unconscious, i smoke him and then i continue the fight, i died but he survived because of the smoke barrier it made in the woods.
i use them when im getting sniped in a field, you can pop it and still attach it to your vest and then zig-zag to create a smoke cloud - and the sniper is blind.
The alarm is actually a really good use case, I wouldn’t have thought about that.
When I used to play my group kept a bunch, loved using them to cover movement, when you're pinned in a building and going to decide to run out, that extra two seconds of concealment out the door way is nice. Definitely. If I have space on the vest, I'm carrying at least 2. They're incredibly useful in an array of situations.
I usually use them and when I get shot from sniper in distance I usually pop one out strap it to my chest and run with it while smoke screen goes behind covering me. Then when its clear he is missing I just drop it on the ground and disappear.
From the arma mod to the dayZ game itself I have always carried smoke on me. I play solo a lot so smokes help me distract as well as prevent the players from pushing, also it prevents a sniper from getting a good look at my position from most angles since it covers such a large area. With 2 smokes I can make an easy escape and flank far around or wait in a nearby town to plan an ambush, some of my ambush tactics involve dummy traps and then live traps with smoke and some fragmentation. If you get it right with the wind direction, they actually make for great cover
They're great cover for when you're in the open and need to run backwards and break horizon and confuse them as to if you went right or left
A lot of time, I will unpin the smoke gernade just for the noise trigger. Most times players will think you just poped a grenade and they will start running
I keep it to mark areas with whatever teammates I got near me (community)
I also keep it to cause a distraction from any other people I may think in town (official)
I use them to escape when under fire, you know, like a ninja. It works like a charm.
They are good for signaling to a large group. Especially if your crew assigns meaning to each color.
It's also handy for designating a landing area for helicopters, assuming you are playing with mods.
I have used the before when I was being camped in a building trying to leave but it didn't work out for me

I like the wombo combo of a flash bang on a trip wire with a mine directly next to it. They're good for smoking out a room or building front to cover lobbing nades through windows
Idk even in the military it's mostly used to mark targets or friendly positions
I carry one at all times and use it as an escape tactic 🤣 if I'm being shot at and I'm either unarmed or I need to relocate; I pop it and run with it. It makes me a harder target to hit and when I reach cover, I drop it and keep running to flank or to just disappear.
I always pick them up but never use them. I just never get the chance its always 0-100 real quick in DayZ
Not wrong- it's not often you'll actually get to use them- but it's good to have them on your kit for when you might. I always carry one, just in case I get pinned somewhere or need to get across an open area that I know is busy
I throw them randomly bc people gonna be like "well, idk what that idiot in the woods tossed a smoke for" while i'm balls deep in a town next to the treeline
It’s kinda useful to escape a building if you trapped some times it works
I personally use them to cover short distances while I’m pinned down by a sniper. But the tactic that works best for me is to Throw it in the opposite direction in which you want to run. If your gonna run left throw the Granad from the safety of your cover to the right. Most snipers will scoop into or near the smoke. So if your running in the opposite direction. So if the distance is short anuff they may not even have seen that you’ve left said cover
In the bunker they block NVGs so it's pretty helpful on Livonia for certain situations. I always have at least two going into the bunker.
I used them for concealment when fighting or for marking helicopter landing zones
If I can get to it fast enough, I use it for down player to revive them and to get Them out of the hell zone Safe and secure
I use them because if I'm getting shot out with my squad I'll drop a few in the direction that I got shot at so we can bolt the cover or get out of there entirely
I only use them for concealment when I have abit more of a gap than I’m comfortable crossing whilst under sniper fire

DayZ players would HATE my guts if I played this game and took it serious lmfao, I'm a HUGE smoke user in fps, I was actually known for using smoke in BF1, I was like literally the only person that used them.
Smokes are SUPER underrated in games and it's insane.
Barry, I usually keep at least 1 smoke grenade, usually to cover my retreat if I am in danger. They really make for good cover to make a hasty retreat. I killed an ATC camper at NWAF the other day and his friends tagged me, broke my leg. I was fortunate enough to be downed behind cover, so I popped a smoke grenade to give myself cover for long enough to set my broken leg with a splint and then I popped a morphine and an epinephrine to high-tail my beat up ass out of there 😂😂
I once used the grenade luncher for a signal flare and artillery
use these things as distractions. saved me plenty, hide somewhere when ur in danger, toss it a few yards to the side, then move backwards
You can open the smoke grenade, place it back on your chest and you will be an moving Smoke more if Sniper have you on sight
As a sweat that can fight fully geared squads and win smokes are clutch asf. Being able to obscure your movements or smoke somebody out in a building has HUGE tactical advantages. I use them often to push across fields or when I am pinned down in cover.
homie im right with you, i dont use smokes but beating a squad as a solo is never not satisfying. and its usually pretty easy, since squads run around like they own the place
@@uhuju1 I’ve held down bases on official for over a year multiple times and they only reason they fell is because dupers and us not wanting to stay up until 5am every night. I’ve played against a lot of good players so to say it’s not satisfying is silly. I’ve had 20-30 kill nights on 1 account.

Me and a squad of freshies formed a cult around the 1-m8 after slamming about 10 up a ladder to blind and distract a man we were trying to kill as he was camping the ladder
One time i was on a PVP server and got sniped in the middle of nwaf i go uncon and when i wake up i pull the nade and drop it the smoke gave me the cover i needed to get to a nearby building and get safe
I always keep them to use them like they are supposed to I toss them to other players direction so I can rotate or force them to move because they can't see
You can use them to distract bears like wolf's with steak
Me and a group actually had a decent set of smokes and we popped them at a pvp event for a castle they work great
That item is in my opinion one of the best things to camp somewhere, it has helped me win battles that with my skill would be impossible, I won a 5v1 on a blacktrader thanks to them.
And when I joined a team they recognized me for being the team's trapper, more than anything I always liked it because in most games I always loved making traps for fools😂
How did you use it while camping? Like how did it help you in the 1v5
@@Oleka8 If you've got a bad guy stuck somewhere like, say in a house, and you throw the smoke at the front door- that's going to create soft cover that will allow you to advance or flank their positions. Since it keeps them blind, it has a chance of potentially flushing them out of the house as you advance, or observe.
You can do the same if you need to get across an open area and know you'll be taking direct fire.
Think of smoke grenades as mobile curtains!
I carry them on my vest. If I'm shot and their hit I'll have an instant smoke screen to help conceal my escape
Me and my friends use it to help us find each other when we finally make it to the same city
On a 10x server I once threw 10 smoke grenades while running from two geared guys and managed to circle around them and kill them lmao
if the cloud smoke was bigger id carry them, but rn id drop them as soon as i find frags
When I used too play milsim server if we had to push through the open fields of chernarus we would pop a smoke and pin it too our vests before running out like mad men lol

I try to keep atleast 2 handy. But mostly for if we get pinned down in a gun fight
I use them as a way to district an enemy must people get really focused on it so it makes a great get away
Don't drop smoke on yourself, it'll just mark your location and blind you.
Throw it towards the enemy to obscure their sight line instead.

Cover your movements, mark a location and make it VERY obvious where you are for that one friend that just can't see anything at all for whatever reason
changing the smoke to be more volumetric would be better used as cover.

I always keep one just in cause, cause it can act as a decent smoke screen and can be effective during combat
Always take them to NWAF pull them and see how far I can get down the runway

In cs go you can use smoke to escape a sniper. I guess you can in dayz aswell

1) Trip wire 5 - 10 of em around town. 2) Get up high out of town with a sniper rifle
3) Proceed to clean thy room irl
4) pew pew fish in a barrel when you see smoke. Enjoy...
We collected them when we had a massive base and then popped all of them for a party
