Anytime I feel like complaining, I hear Brian's voice in my head and I shut up and remind myself to try harder to be a better person. He's a great strength coach and an even better life coach. Thank you, brother.

What a rare and beautiful human being. I sincerely hope that when the aliens come to judge us, they judge us on the basis of men like Brian alsruhe. Much love and respect.

"Make GOOD decisions" just about sums it up. I first saw Brian on a collab with Joey Szatsmary on Alan Thralls channel and thought "Who's this big macho weirdo". But as I delved deeper into his channel I realised that he's macho in a good way. Not avoiding responsibility, doing what needs to be done, honest, but doesn't value other people less for being different from him. He's an inspiring person and makes me want to become better as well.

I have been working on cleaning up my life, accepting responsibility for my actions, not placing blame on others and really just taking ownership of my life. It's an every day struggle and will always will be. I got tired of being a lazy piece of shit, wallowing in my own self-pity and wanting everyone to feel sorry for me because I have back problems (Degenerative Disc Disease, 2 unsuccessful back surgeries and a pain medication dependency which turned into a full blown addiction).
My current journey started when one day I got tired of having panic attacks and being depressed all the time and one day decided to start a strict meditation routine. That was the catalyst I needed because meditation forces you to face your problems head-on, while accepting what you cannot change and changing the things you can change. I have always been an athletic person and that also carried into the meditation and made me realize that without exercise, your body will tend to accumulate stress and exacerbate depression symptoms. In November of last year I hit the gym hard and started at 340 pounds...
As of today I'm down to 232 pounds. I lost over 100 pounds in less than a year, even with my disease. I'm not perfect by a long shot (no one is), but I am definitely not the same self-deprecating piece of shit I was before. I now want to get into MMA and actually compete and maybe one day I can fight professionally.
I'm 6'4", 232 pounds and 34 years old which is pretty old to begin a fighting career and despite all the nay sayers in my family, basically saying my back will get messed up, I'm planning on having my first fight in November with a local amateur MMA show.
I don't have anything to prove to anyone except myself that I can be tough and have tons of heart, all thanks to people on UA-cam like Brian Alsruhe, Jocko Willink, Joe Rogan, Wim Hof, Matt Brown, Dan Pena and several other motivational guys. I can seriously appreciate what you do and we need more people like you Brian.

In the end of the day there will always be people out there who will be looking to harm you - no matter how good of a person you are. Brian's old neighbour is an example of that. It sucks, but it's the life we live.
I opened my eyes to that this year. First the crackheads next door broke into our basement and stole from us, and later another individual who lost the genetic lottery broke into our appartment and tried to assault me and my father in our home. He ended up being the only one being sent to the hospital, but even though we got away unharmed (except for a sore neck after he grabbed it, a sore shoulder after punching and stabbing him, and some bruising on my triceps), my view of the world changed quite a lot.
Just like Brian did, I also decided not to be a victim. You must do the same, because eventually you will find yourself in danger too.

Have followed you for years and this gave me chills, first time hearing you open up like this and it gives an insight into why you are what you are, incredible.

Brian reminds me of my 24 year old stepson, awesome kid who will help anyone but there's a boiling cauldron underneath that can be uncontrollable, he gets a look in his eyes and when I'd take him to lift with me even at age 10 I'd worry about his safety during a set because he didn't know when to quit

I hope you understand I meant that as a compliment of the highest regard, I love my stepson more than anything in the world and would give my life for his, I came into his life at almost age 6 and he went through some trauma before I knew him, he's very much like you, full of energy, very strong both physically and mentally but with a deep down rage for people who bully others, when we went to the gym together I had to hold him back lol

I've been following Brian for so long, that listening to him just tell his life story in short feels oddly nostalgic. It also feels amazing hearing all the throwing up and not knowing what's wrong as a past tense experience
