Self taught barista thanks to aritisti and others. Jimmy sharing some great insight. Keeping your grinder in tip top shape goes hand in hand with the rest of the process like puck prep, extraction etc. It all starts at the grind and is ultimately the biggest factor in my opinion. Anfim sp2 user. Vacuum at the shoot, leaf blower from the top of the grinder with hopper removed.
And use the steam from your coffee machine to loosen oils on your hopper and wipe clean with lint free towel ❤

THis was a little helpful, we have the old coffee grinder at work, the one on your left my right..lol.. It was working perfect, then all of a sudden the grind started looking like wood chips, this was happening for a while, management werent paying attention, and i also noticed when making a coffee the coffee smelt burnt. Now i dont drink coffee, but watching and learning from your videos has helped me how to really understand coffee. Now we dont use the weight, and we dont have the dosing cup, or an automatic tamper, however, i have on the wall in our gaming lounge, the coffee list and the how to make them, And the QR code for your videos so thank you so so much.

Hi! Love your videos and have learned so much the last couple of days! Can’t wait to bring it into my new job as a starting barista. Kind of a random question: Do you recycle the milk cartons? I would love to get that into the rutines of the café here, but I don’t know how easy it will be to keep it efficient and low maintainence. Do you have any tips for that? Or is it really better to just throw it in the regular garbage bin?

A suggestion regarding a product to clean grinder burrs.
I have an older Mahlkonig K30 Vario that's been in use for over ten years. I've been using a product called "Grindz" from the start. It has served me well. I run the "Grindz" 'beans' through it about every 2kg of coffee ground. I cycle the Grindz through twice. Initially I sprinkle just enough 'Grindz beans' into the cap to make a single layer of them in the cap, and run that through the purged grinder (open the burrs wide open, then gradually go finer using 2 second bursts.) Then repeat this a 2nd time, juat a few beans to make a single layer in the product's cap). By this time, it's all coming out very clean. Minimal use of Grindz. This works better for me than filling the entire cap with Grindz, as is often suggested (and uses a lot more of that product). My burrs are still squeaky clean and grinding well after about 750lbs (340kg) of coffee. Probably approaching the time to replace the burrs, but not yet - original burrs still working fine.
For reference, all coffee ground with this grinder is for producing espresso (medium roast) with a dose between 21.0 - 21.5g with 32s extractions. Grind times pretty fast @ 21g in 4.4 seconds.
I suspect the numbers on all of the above depend on what kind of coffee one usually uses, and how it's ground, but for me, Grindz has been a very economical and effective solution. YMMV.

Thanks Jimmy! Another factor which may not be an issue in the café but I have experienced with a Baratza Vario is duty cycle. Basically some grinders can only run so long before they have to shut off to cool down. Also regarding static, a quick spritz of water with a spray bottle Will greatly reduce static
