gx takes place about 10 years after duel monsters and 5ds about 20 years after gx. Ushio is a student (just looks old) so he was about 16 or so. Therefore he was about 46 years old in 5ds. he looks a bit young in 5ds but hey its and anime. So yea, it does make sense for him to be the guy in 5ds, not his son or something,
Yugioh(both manga and anime) is supposed to take place in the mid-late 90's(1996). GX takes place a near decade after it. 5D's takes place in 2021(shown in the anime's opening and ending, and positive they wouldnt put that for no reason). Zero Reverse takes place 17 years before 2021. Before Zero Reverse happened, Dominio City already looked futuristic(having Kyrpton looking pods to save babies from destruction). There is no way Dominio City can develop so fast after GX in only a few years, and it conflicts with GX since it starts at that time. Takahashi should have had the year for each series set because its just causing confusion. lol

I remember reading the first 8-10 chapters and noticing how different the characters looked compared to the anime. But suddenly, Yugi/Atem got a nose and Joey got his anime hairstyle. The mangaka changed the art style in a couple of chapters.
