We did this as an activity for a friend's stag party. His head on a chaplain, whiskey tasting and 1,5 hour painting challenge with him picking the winner only 2 out of 15 were painting Warhammer. Yet we all had a blast with it.

So, you finally did it, you scanned your own heads 🤣 Also while Jay's head works surprisingly well for a space marine, they do need more variation in un-helmeted heads. Brilliant video boys, keep up the good work!
One small piece of crticism I would provide is that the purple highlits look a bit out of place - Maybe adding some purple tinted OSL light reflectins to few of the jutting out rock pieces and tallest part of the Ork (like the top angle of the claw) could tie everything a bit more
This your best video in a while. It has all the classic humour and silliness that has been missing from more recent videos, and is a excellent video on how you built and painted a truly unique and beautiful diorama. If I may offer two pieces of criticism: one the space marine is too purple, I think it need to be much darker, almost black with the highlights showing the purple; second, Nick is a green Ork? Nick should have been BLUE, because of course Nick is a blue Ork leading his blue Ork army. A missed opportunity. Great work fellas!!😁
Awesome idea that was super fun to see you making your own heads for the wh minis! :D I think with Nick being an Ork I would have deformed the lower jaw in Blender pulled it out and made it a bit wider and longer than it was in reality. Keeping Nicks general likeness but making it more Orky.

OMG you nailed your head. The scale is perfect on a primaris marine. Looking at your face on the video though.. you surely got the colors right, but your skin and hair are more glossy. Perhaps some weird NMM on the sin and hair? The contrast in the studio is pretty hard.
Love this idea. I'm not a fan of how the Nick turned out (the proportions are weird and the hair really breaks immersion) but the Space Marine Jay looks amazing!
POTENTIAL HERESY DETECTED I think you should have pushed the purple much darker, but kept the edge highlights bright. As-is it's too purple, IMO. Maybe consider having the diorama in a Space Hulk corridor with lights throwing the colored highlights next time.

I’m in the process of converting my garden workshop to solar so I can have a bank of resin printers for stuff like this! Previous neighbours workmen cut through my power cable when putting up a fence.. I cba to dig up my entire garden to fix it!
That Nick-ork is a real stuff on nightmares. He looks like The Thing. Just goes to show that human faces don't really fit cartoonish orks, since otherwise the mini looks great. Jay the space marine is a much better fit for a realistic human head.
In the new Gazghul book, Makari describes Humans having grot heads attached to them that lived. So, it's not too far of a leap to think a good ork doc, with a large enough group of orks, that has enough confidence in him, would be able to put a humie head on a boys body. IRL, there are fungi that take over and zombify insects. Perhaps ork blood is fungnaceous enough take over a human head.
A thought on composition: your Ork's face is obscured through about 3/4ths of the available viewing angles. There's nothing wrong with a 360° diorama, but doing it well means that you're having to be exceptionally mindful about your composition, and making sure you're not ignoring a wide swath of your viewing angles. Studying a bit of Nguyen Tuan's work would probably help develop that sense...
I'd be interested in seeing more and more improvements to it. I don't generally go back over old models (more and more better! I play guard...) But it would be neat to learn how pushing quality with a finished piece is different from creating to begin with (in that way it's almost like chibi video) and I just honestly wanna see how good you can get this disturbing thing.
Don't even need expensive equipment anymore. The tech has gotten good enough and the prints are insane w/ the app Ethanmakes3d or EM3D and just a cellphone. Good Luck on your road to Golden Demon!

Absolutely love the faces concept and majority of the paint job but the purple just doesn't work for me! I think a blue gray highlight is better for black templars
I know the 3D scan was part of the idea, but why didn't you alter Nick's head a little to look a bit more orkish before painting (at least teeth-tusks, protruding cheekbones)? I figured that would help contribute to said wow-factor so people would do a double take with your reference photos. Also, Black Templar Jay needs scars! Or is that coming up later as this is a test model(s)?

So I guess the only option for you is to grab yourself a Guilliman, kitbash the model to represent the Emperor and then get Henry Cavill to provide you with a face-scan... ez pz golden demon
I love the idea of this and the paint job looks good. However it looks. Nothing like a black Templar. It instead looks like a souldrinker is wearing a death watch shoulder and some black Templar pads. Needs like 50% more black imo.

For single Mini entrance 4 golden demon, I would heavily recommend, to put Nicks face on Ghazkulls (new) body.
