- If you love the odd and the unusual, then you're really going to enjoy this one. A classic car show full of tiny motor cars, where 2CVs and Reliants are made to look enormous!
This video contains road runs as well as the main show day, with cars including Bond Bug and Minicar, Berkeley, BMW Isetta, Heinkel/Trojan, Messerschmitt, Scootacar, Autobianchi, Fiat 500, an AC Petite, a PAIR of Invacars, Trabant, Honda N600 and Beat, Lloyd Alexander, Peel P50 and Trident and the public unveiling of the Michelotti PAC - a 1984 concept based on Daihatsu Cuore running gear.
Huge thanks to the show organisers. It was a superb weekend. There will be a follow-up video about TWC the Invacar's weekend.

The micro car community. It only has a small following. I thank you.
@Dominik Alfred And prey tell what did you find?
The metallic blue Jaguar 420 caught my eye..my Father bought one new in 1969, one of the most exciting days of my life!
Lovely video, such memories. My first "car" was a Heinkel Bubble. I bought it in 1965 ( I'm that old ). I drove it on a Provisional licence with "L" plates as it was deemed a motorcycle and sidecar. Things were a little easier back then. You don't know your born until you've pushed a Heinkel to nearly 70 mph down a steep hill and lived to tell the tell. 😉
As the song goes, spread a little happiness. With micro cars, the vibe is always joyful.
I love the Isetta hiding in the tent. Looks just like a big green frog. But a lovable one. And what a lovely metallic green paint job on that Messerschmitt!
Im loving the tracking/running shots. the offroading Isetta was a superb piece of footage!
Three wheel Isettas have the same issue as 2 CVs on gravel hill climbs ,the lack of traction! haha. Once I had to climb a hill backwards in a Visa Club. And a wet grass hill in a Ami-8 was hell in Earth!.
Although we were fortunate enough to be at the rally on Sunday, it's great to see the footage of these amazing little cars in Wells, Cheddar and at the Haynes Motor Museum.
It was nice to meet you on Sunday and as you said everyone was friendly and willing to chat about their cars.
Not only did our grandson have his photograph taken with yourself and TWC (Thank you for that) but he also given the opportunity to sit in the driving seat of an Isetta. His favourite car at the rally was the P registered 2CV, he told me that I should buy a 2CV.
So perhaps he is a young HubNut in the making or maybe he is just a petrolhead like myself, either way, it was an enjoyable day.
Awesome little car, the bond bug. I remember 70s boy racers having them...
Back in the 1960s, these cars were still being used as daily drivers and spare parts and service were readily available. The most common sights were Isettas and Heinkel-Trojans with the occasional Bond Minicar, Messerschmitt or Berkeley. The others cars were rarely, if ever, seen. By the 1970s, few were left on the road and they started to become treasured collector's items.
Had to wait until late at night to watch this ! Such gems require full and studied concentration without family interruptions.
The thing about your vids is the nostalgia factor, so much of my childhood and adolescent memories are here.
7:28 Blimey, look at the size of that mini. It's enormous!!!
i want those heinkels and issetas for myself, god they're gorgeous
Wow, that new gimbal really works! Much more cinematic experience without the old shaky-cam.
What a lovely bunch of owners....smiles and waves aplenty 😁👋
Enjoying this all the more second time around, thanks.
Loving the Pac concept car! Not to mention the 4-wheel Bond Bug. Very interesting to see all of them.
My old man was the service director @Norton Villiers(Marston Rd. Wolverhampton) in the mid 60's. When my sister passed her test, for a first car, she was 'lent' a MkG Bond(BDA 666) that had been hanging round the factory for ages(there had been plans to fit it with a 'Starmaker' engine(this never matirialised) she kept it for a year! It had a 4T Villiers twin, and a siba reverse electric start(this ran the thing backwards, and, effectively gave you 4 gears in reverse!)
We were very sorry when that was returned.
Messerschmitt's are my absolute favorite Micro car I just love that cockpit design of them.
When your steering wheel is bigger than your road wheels and you have a "keep fit" reverse gear...
That Red Peel Trident 50cc is delightful
Brilliant video! A Southend registered Invacar and of course, a BMW 700, the very car which both reversed BMW's losses and improved their fortunes prior to the launch of their company saving New Class series. The rest of course, is history...
The proverbial good things in small packages. Utterly charming!
Cheddar gorge is up the road from me and is a beautiful. Alot of car lovers go there for meeting up together. Very lucky to have this local to me!
Brilliant job Ian, thanks
i'm loving the pac! kinda looks like a renault 5 and a robin had fun then a slightly big usa car the amc pacer came in and added its features and this was born i love it! also 80's everything aws eletric dash this and that lol,
Wow, very envious of you, that looked fantastic Hubnut, thank you for sharing this with us, the variety was great and so many interesting vehicles :)
I like micro cars Thank you Hub Nut!!
The FIAT 126 looks huge in this company! 😂 Fab video as always!
Most excellent 👍 Thanks for sharing ...
Love the way your mates still got the orange disabled sticker in the back of his invacar 😁😁😁😁
I always thought TWCs wiper was parking wrongly! I now have a new lusting in my life. That BMW 700 is utterly drop dead gorgeous!
TWC's wiper is parking correctly. The other one is wrong.
HubNut 😉
Had a 1964 Trojan for a while and always regret selling it. I agree Ian, the Micro-car people are a lovely bunch. I managed to attend one of the brilliant rallys at Chatsworth House, many moons ago.
"She spent the night with a pair of Trabant's." 😂😂🍷
Dirty girl
@@geofffisher3902 get over it. Was Only A 2 Stroke...
Lmaooooo
TWC has an identical friend! 🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗
I must get to this event it looks brilliant 👍 we even got bonus TWC driving footage. Best yet thank you.
MHJ's wiper looks sooooooo much tidier! far more pleasing for my OCD!
But rubbish. TWC's wipes the bit of windscreen you see through to see the mirror... And is how they were when new.
Shame BBC doesn't give you some air time for this gem especially in light of the brilliant Bangers & Cash being shown on network TV 👍🏴
Some gorgeous designs. The Lloyd Alexander and the Mira Aventzaddo would be my choice, oh and a peel P50 or scootcar for the sheer fun of being able to give to a relative to drive at 16.
No matter how crap a day I've had a work... a video with TWC in it never fails to cheer me up! Lovely little cars, all of them - and for some reason, the white NSU Prinz seems familiar from my childhood.
I love these little micro cars. The Heinkel takes me back to the summers of the mid 60's when my Grandma and Granddad came to visit us. He had two of them in succession but in 1968 he went up in the world and purchased a Reliant Regal AND901B. Funny the things you remember!
Thank you Ian for inviting me into your wonderful world of strange vehicles. This was no exception at all. Thanks so much. Pete 🇬🇧
Great video Ian, thanks for Inc Rosie (2cv) climbing the in ramp 😊. Must say reading the subtitles is very amusing, voice recognition is like predictive text 😉
What a fascinating and amazing period in motoring history, The mind truly boggles at some of these. Compared to some Ian your Invacar looks positively well engineered and luxurious!
Watching again when the world was normal (ish). Marvellous.
Those Bond bugs took me back. I traded a Vespa 180 in for a 700ES. I could get it onto two wheels on a tight corner, that always made the passenger laugh...not! Loved it , happy days.
Absolutely splendid! Thanks for that most enjoyable show report, these little cars really are charming especially that superb Lloyd Alexander.
What an amazing collection of cars and locations. Looks like the meet was loads of fun. Still think TWC looks the best, love the 70's style. Great memories of the invacar!
Line them up, metal, plastic, wood and papier-mache, then sub divide them into motorbike engines car engines, I love it.
haha is there an "old underpants" category for the trabants?
First saw an Isetta when I was quite young Ian. The doctor in our small village of Ulceby near Alford got one. Quite a funny sight as he was a large man.
Like the lloyd alexander very much.
i would have had one of those if i was around back then.
NSU Weinsberg looks awesome i will buy one win i win the lottery haha.
That drone incident was really funny lol.
First thought @32:12 was a mk2 ford fiesta.
Another great video ian.
Two Inva cars in convoy - I am impressed!
Not the first time. 😉 ua-cam.com/video/IGFeeIxl7nw/v-deo.html
Only 14 minutes into this video but... those micro cars look like too much fun!
Also, Somerset, my favourite county, aside from Norfolk, spent many holidays there now, well, three! All good times though, Dunster is a must place to visit, you will not find a finer place in Britain! Apart from the village of Castle Acre, in Norfolk, obviously =)
Seriously though, really enjoying this video so far, its on pause while i type this as i don't wish to miss the micro car shenanigans, I am tempted to wear my headphones to hear those engines properly as they sound great on my tinny laptop speakers.
Lovely, stylish start to this edition Ian. Very impressive!
Great show. Lots of lovely little cars. Wonderful !
I felt sorry for the bloke with the gigantic bike when you laughed. that look was telling a lot :(
great content and great show
Great video, and explanation of the microcars.. 👌👍😊
That was a lovely video. Your knowledge of the cars' history is amazing.
It was great to meet TWC. Our 18 month old apologises for head butting it’s door, he meant no ill. On the way back to Bristol I nearly managed to convince the missus that you could get an optional external “wife rack” for the Invacar to take ‘er indoors shopping.
Excellent. I must get myself one to keep in the back of the transit :-)
There was a vehicle there that I thought was a small Transit - it was to scale with the cars - but I think it was actually a Trabant !
Many thanks again for another great video bro, these wee cars are amazing!!
What an assortment of littles gems 😎🤘🤘
Wow, that is a wonderful event! I'd love to geek out at it some day. I owned a Goggo coupe' for about 10 years because of the wonderful introduction to microcars I enjoyed at Gould's Microcar Classic events in Brookline Massachusetts. Microcar owners the world over seem to be the friendliest folks!
Was a great rally and it was also good to say hello to you in person after watching the channel for so long :)
Another lovely video, thankyou Ian.
Nice to see the Bonds as they were produced round't'corner from my house... father-in-law had one as a garden ornament at one point, when they were of zero value. Also quite partial to the beige Reliant Rebel... there's one of those lurking the other side of my garden fence that my neighbour might one day get around to bike-engine-ing.
What a great show. I'd love to get to this in the future. Thanks for the detailed look round.
Wonderful video Ian! You parked outside what was my old school in Glastonbury, now a retirement home I believe! Good to see you too and I saw myself in the video a few times - an honour to be in and amongst all those fantastic little cars and I've totally fallen on love with micro cars! I loved the Scootercar, never seen one before and was totally bowled over by it! Loved seeing them all at the Haynes Museum! Had a wonderful day there and my American friends who turned up thought they were fantastic! A wonderful sight!
I get the impression you like my local area. Do come back!
What a great atmospheric report of a memorable event!
As going to a regular events, Sadly now coming to the end as it's now the end of the car season, I saw a Bond Bug For the 1st time this year, Oh my and then at the same event I have also seen a honda Beat that happened to be up for sale. I had to say it was tempting. Such cool little cars are the Honda Beat.
This really was a great day out, I really enjoyed finally meeting HubNut!
I just love those micro cars. You missed filming the lovely little fiat 126 we caught a glimpse of as you were doing your outro haha, it looked really nice, and quite rare these days. That Pac concept micro car was really cool, it did look like it had mk2 fiesta fron lights and indicators though, but still cute as hell, the rear of it was really nice, and the hinges and instrument panel gave it a little touch of class. I would happily own and daily drive it without a problem if it was produced, what a shame it isn't hey.
Lovely. Nice view of an open Bond early on, hopefully mine will look similar.
Enjoyed it last year and this year too. Thanks!
Would you please tell me when and where the next event will take place?thanks
Everything still on hold at the moment due to the virus.
Great, so many small cars together :-)
Fabulous video, great to see so many microcars .My Dad had a lovely little NSU Prinz, with 600cc aircooled SOHC engine, really well made. Our neighour had a Gogomobile...
I swear, I can almost smell them from here!
I met some of these guys last year. I started my holiday in England near Headcorn on Schoolhouse Farmcampsite where there was an other microcar meet. On that campsite was a microcar museum too. Lovely place , Lovely people
My mate brought his Trabant 601 and I always bring my microcaravan an Eriba Puck.
Our German friends brought their Trabant 600 estate towing a micro caravan from Germany!
That was amazing thank you so much. 🤗
Great to see you and TWC on Sunday. Nice to have an event like this in Somerset and a great day out for £6 on the gate! Archie the dog isn't sorry for sitting on your foot though (he likes doing that!) Keep up the good work, Jim.
This was a very interesting tour of the event, thank you, I had some scary moments as a passenger in a Bond many years ago
Just wonderful. The total bonkers-ness of it all.
Also loving the use of the word "jeepers" 👍
Reminded me of the opening scenes of the film ! Warriors " with the different factions spoiling for a fight :]
Invacars come out to playeeee !
Like the micro car hill climb rally shots can't believe how steep that gravel track was
It was good fun! Many motorhomes had to be towed in my Land Rover...
Astonishing lil machines. I’ve never seen so many.
The original MkI Bond is so sweet . So many great cars but the nicest surprise for me was that Daihatsu Mira 4x4 towards the end , such a cool little car 👌
I know HubNut is about cars but the Wells cathedral looks very impressive ! Great vid.
Excellent video, loved the Lloyd Alexander
amazing show as always
Small cars... but big smiles by everyone! Very nice video. Thanks for sharing :)
Just a brilliant video, really enjoyed it
love small cars..ty Ian
I was disappointed to see only a few Reliants on display. These were a common sight on the roads in the sixties and seventies. I loved the scenery, Cheddar Gorge and Wells. Brings back a lot of memories.
Reliants are generally considered a bit large for microcar status.
Hi Ian, I mean the Regals and Robins.
Those event Days out Strongly Missed
Get you with your end of day segues. Lovely to see all these microcars coming together.
Thanks for bringing us along. Love these shows. Did anyone else think the prototype PAC resembles an AMC Pacer sold in the States?
An amazing display of splendiddity. A great video from you, Ian and many amazing machines. If the Sinclair C5 was that size and had a decent power pack in it (IC or electric) It would have likely been a success. I'm somewhat bemused that 'mini' cars aren't a thing nowadays as for many jobs they'd be ideal.
Used too go to these events, always enjoyable !
Lovely to see a MkC Bond Mini, my first car , bought when I was 16 , had to do a rebuild and change the engine to get it roadworthy. Cost me £25 without an engine, so long ago when Bonds were still in production!
We used to call expansion chambers `spanny pipes` back in the day, ring ding ding!
So many micro car amazing 👍👍👍
Brilliant intro.👌
