Great playing Grey Owl! What intrigues me most is that great long lasting throat- (?) vibrato. WHAT a sound! How do you manage that and more important how could we, the rookies not playing premier league harmonica, approach this in any way? Thanks for any tip that helps us forward! Compliments!

Thanks so much! I was very lucky as vibrato came naturally to me early on in my playing. Having said that I still can't do throat vibrato on draw 4 unless I'm using a lower pitch harmonica such as regular G!!?? I am aware of some modulation in my lower tongue/throat when playing vibrato but it's difficult to for me to describe the mechanics.
I have looked at some vids on vibrato and the best one I think is by Will Wilde who has a very powerful throat vibrato. ua-cam.com/video/k9g-9n1R3iE/v-deo.html He has a pretty good attempt at describing what he does and also points out other pulsing techniques which mimic it but are not throat vibrato.
However if you find it impossible to do throat vibrato these are worth having in you're skill set especially Jaw Vibrato which is great on the higher draw notes (and blow notes for that matter). another good source Carlos Del Junco ua-cam.com/video/hzoSWtuR6jY/v-deo.html Good luck!

@@GreyOwl-Harmonica Thanks a lot for your extended answer and all these tips and suggestions.
A lot of work to do, to get this more or less, but perseverance and courage will help us.
      And hope off course!
Maybe one very lucky morning i hope to find out that this great tone and vibrato also will, or has come naturally to me!😅
From now on , before sleep i'll send a small prayer to the patron saint 😇of us harmonica players...
      Who might that be?🤔
      Thanks again Grey Owl!

@Tryout Haha!! You could ask St Monica but you might try your luck with an angel as there is not much they don't know about Harp playing 😉

@@GreyOwl-Harmonica Great idea G.O., Saint Monica!!
Never thought about her in that specific way.
Another coincidence is that in the part of The Netherlands where i live, in our dialect the Harmonica is simply called a "Monica".
I'm thinking now of designing a T-shirt with her holiness playing the harmonica.
My last question G.O., is it possible to get or pick-up your backing track Help me somewhere?
      Thanks a lot ànd again!

      @Tryout Hey, that's a good idea!
I got the backing track from this UA-cam video
ua-cam.com/video/6r9wNsC_zdY/v-deo.html. I must have changed the key on mine as I used a C harmonica.
Here is the link to the backing track zip file shown in the above video description.
      www.box.net/shared/foz78izn90
You will need a Bb harmonica to play along.
      Good luck

Hello! I was hoping you might let me know what harmonica you are using, and any special key, in your Lament from Riverdance, which is just amazing, by the way! Thanks so much!

    • @GreyOwl-Harmonica

+Rowman 1671 Thanks! As I was playing along to a backing track on this song I had to play a harmonica in the key of C. I played on a Seydel Session Steel harmonica.
On the Riverdance lament I played on a Tombo Folk Blues Harmonica and used the key of G (Icould have used any key to play because I didn't have to keep in tune with a backing track)
