I picked up my first harp just before I hit the road hitchhiking around the states and canada in 1971. I knew my draft number was low and I wanted to see America before getting killed in Vietnam. I would sit and practice until I got a ride. I couldn't plat at all but I made a lot of noise. People who saw me thought they were going to get a concert only to be disappointed. The only time I made money playing harp was when a guy gave me 20 bucks if I'd stop playing. Over th he years after I got out of the army I did concert security and graduated to doing tours with the bands. I have played with some of the finest rock stars.....mostly in the tour buses and hotel rooms. I'm so thankful that I took the unconventional approach to life and avoided the 9 to 5 bullshit. Thanks to all the great musicians that put up with me in the early years and showed so much patience with my befuddled mind. I have lived a life most wouldn't believe. I'm now pushing 71 and I still love the life I lead. God Bless America and the patriots that I have encountered
Hey did the same hitching around Europe in the 80s got noticed standing playing harp at the side of the road ,they didn't get any concerts from me either!
You know, I’ve been obsessed with playing harmonica for almost 2 years now and I’ve made it a point to listen to everyone from the originators all the way to present day players and everyone in between. I am a very experienced listener of music, especially harmonica music, blues, jazz, classical, folk, I listen to it all. I say that to say this, Will is the most skilled harp player ever. I never say this about musicians because normally I feel that there’s no clear greatest player, but to my ears, Will really is the best. He does things on the harp that I’ve never heard. Namely his vibrato and breath control are just unbelievable. It’s not just those though, it’s the whole package, there isn’t a single facet of harp playing that he isn’t exceptional at. Truly a one of a kind player who I suspect will go down in history as one of the all time greats, at least he deserves to.
I started playing when I was 2 years old my uncle gave me a dollar crabby Hank Williams song I can learn on a harmonica and take me long 1962 after that I found Muddy Waters Sonny boy all of them the best they all taught me listen to Charlie McCoy country he plays country vocals that's fun background vocals at the same I can play right along with him too bad we can't hang out and practice I'm set up 1967 Blues Master Deluxe tube amplifier they Ben notes like you can't believe by 1 You'll Play better you can play softer easier with power you'll catch up to him just keep practicing I could tell by your attitude you got it done good luck
@@nacoran It would be soooo awesome. Like the Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich " Drum Battle" of years past. This could be the Will Wilde and Jason Ricci Olympics Harmonica Battle. Another thought. Will and Jason should get together for one of those harmonica duets. Like Will Wilde does with other players'. Maybe Jason Ricci does this type of thing also. I don't remember. PS. Doesn't have to be a winner. Just an EPIC ! ! Harp battle by two of the most awesome players of our time. Will Wilde and Jason Ricci should do a dvd like the old " Harp Attack " dvd. I'd buy it.
I’m a pro player, love your harp tuning and playing. After listening to you, I always come away with new ideas. This is one I play and sing on. Thank you.
It's hard for me to wrap my head around what you do. I love that you pay tribute to the Old Great Ones and then take it to another level. You are getting people excited about this instrument! You will eventually be an Old Great One, but for now you will have to settle for a Young Great One. Thank you.
Man! Totally awesome! My grandpa played the harmonica! He could play! So I’m like 18 and my husband got me one! I go to a bar and see a Neil young cover band! I’m bombed and I break out my harmonica and silence! lol!
8/2024........Hoping all is well for you. I'm revisiting my past discoveries. You were my discovery in 2022. I keep your videos close hand, so I can cue them up as desired. We lost another great harp player recently,..John Mayall who died at age 90, on July 22, 2024. I guess he remained alive and active up until the end, pretty much. He was someone I listened to on albums, here in the USA, going back to my earliest days of learning how to play the harp (aka: harmonica). That would have been when I was 16 in 1969. I had just begun high school, here in America. My best buddy and I were into blues harp music, Mayall was sometimes on our radio. Usually our universities had what was called "underground" radio stations. They were illegal stations set up in basements, no one paid for a broadcasting license,....they weren't authorized, but there was plenty of available "band widths" on the FM dials, and smart kids found a way of, rather than "broadcast", they would do what is called: Narrow-cast. The music signal could only be heard or received in a close distance from where it was being generated from. Maybe at most, within 25 & 50 miles, from the signal. I was a teenager, and my house was just a few miles from one of the Universities which was in a suburb, of the city Cleveland, Ohio. (USA)
Ive been playing a little harp since I got my first Marine Band in 'C' back in 1967 for Christmas (still playing it). Can't even come close to anything like this.

Experienced listener lmao get into some playing too man. It's loads of fun even at a basic level.
I agree I just couldn't bf explaining it. You did it for me. Cheers bro and cheers for the video Will
Giuseppe is correct. I've also listened to EVERYTHING. Will is the best there is and ever was. Period.

There are no words... therefore I will just shut up and listen again to this
Should have harmonica playing in the Olympics.
WILL WILDE would take home the GOLD MEDAL for Great Britain ! ! 👌.
I'd watch that! (I'd have to root for Jason Ricci and the U.S. as a matter of principle, but it would be a hell of a show!)

Now that I'd watch
Yes the ..scrap between Will, Jason Ricci and Sugar Blue would be insane…peace
@@BuckrBill Oh yeah ! Awesome addition. Now we got 3 heavy hitters for a high octane " Harp Attack". 👌.
Ok... I admit it. I want to be you when I grow up. Been playing for 35 years and never heard anyone slay it better.
Disturbingly brilliant.
I totally enjoy watching him!!!😂
In my mind this is like a marriage of 2 players ❤

Just what I needed to listen to after a hard day at work.
Man, I can't even wrap my head around this kind of harmonica prowess. You're basically the Joe Bonamassa of harmonica.
