That's the beauty of this. It actually does show him in a relationship. The relationship is between himself and the demon within him (represented by Taemin wearing the headdress) be it the conflict of his celebrity status and the indulgences & temptations of fame, or remaining true to his Christian worldview), the relationship between him and the industry, or loving what he does despite all the s3xua1ization that goes on within the Kpop world (not to mention his disastrous military service). There is so much to unpack in this MV it's unreal. Taemin has said this is the most personal MV/song he has done. It reveals a lot. It's his last solo MV from SM, and I have to wonder if, on one level, it's a statement to them as well. Now that Taemin is with BPM, you can see he is demonstrably happier and he's finally getting the promotion he has deserved for years. BPM is showing that they value Taemin as an artist.
I feel so conflicted concerning Taemin’s move from SM to BPM. On the one hand, you can see that he’s much more excited about where his career is headed under BPM, but I have to say I was somewhat disappointed with the audio quality of Eternal. It’s still Taemin, but decreased in the quality of both the music video and the audio engineering. If you compare the quality of the mixing of the Guilty album and the Eternal Album, the contrast is rather stark. There’s a muddy quality to the overall sound of Eternal that I found disconcerting. Perhaps it’s a matter of difference in quality of resources between SM and BPM that accounts for it. I don’t know. I just wonder how much better Sexy in the Air would have been had it been produced by SM. I say this as a dyed in the wool fan of Taemin. Am I the only one who feels this way?
@@Vgudorf No you're not the only one. I'm a well-paid pro performer and I'll just say with all their money Hybe can't beat SM's sonic production quality. You're right Eternal mixes are muddier. Another disappointment with BPM: English. SM English have ruined many great songs, NGDA Guilty had serious kpop English issues but BPM took SITA to basement level. Lyrics should flow not turn my favorite kpop vocalist into a joke outside East Asia. Would SITA have been better under SM? Yes. Every kpop LISTENER (vs sexy dance watcher) I know don't like SITA for the chorus verse bridge brainrot lyrics, a few hated the demonic vomit grunts that were supposed to sound sexy. Kenzie (SHINee-loving SM producer) would never approve that demonic vomit grunt in a thousand years. I wanted to sing along to Taemin and I just can't with those Kpop brainrot "English". I despise their hatred for English lyricism, I do. I wish American reactors stop acting Pc about it and call that out cuz I can't deal with another Taemin song burned by shitglish. Adrian Mckinnon and Dem Jointz don't seem to care or dare to veto crap lyrics that completely utterly cheaply destroyed their babies' Billboard hopes. If Taemin is serious about cracking America he should get an English-native-level songwriting partner while he still has the time and clout.

When this mini album came out right around Halloween, it was perfect. Had it on repeat for weeks! My favorite Taemin Title track and one of my favorite Kpop albums 🤩

English speakers are often full of angry, dirty, scorn, and we expect a full expression of it.. Cf.: Bang Yedam singing Charlie Puth's "Hilairious" - ua-cam.com/video/LYhIl7O6MRg/v-deo.html Yedam just doesn't quite deliver the bitter sarcasm of the song. But, when sweet, pretty tenderness and a wrenching, self-imposed pain are juxtaposed, the effect is just brlliant. Taemin gets this combination right - regularly.
