    I stumbled across this show completely by accident went in completely blind no idea what was to come. But i can not even express the chockhold this show has had on me. Im so glad to have watched this show and to watch again along with you.
    Like you said it didnt feel like watching people act they really felt like real people. Some of that i think was partially due to the makeup and constume dept. I mean they looked actual teenager with imperfect skin not like overyly made up flawlessness. It is astounding to me the amount of truly indepth story tell they managed to pack into only 18 ep. Some really important messages surrounding classism, racism (including the small micro agression that are easy to overlook unless directed toward onself). The complexieties of all the characters how noone was all good or all bad, they are just people dealing with some really rough things some made better choices then others though. Side note about queen mama as you call her i really struggled with my feelings toward her because as a parent myself it was really hard for me to see how much wille was hurting and was getting no support. But again as a parent i also cant even imagine the grief of loosing a child and add in the responsibility of being queen on top of that i can kinda see why see was the way she was. However it was really good that after wille blew up at them she realized that he was right she hadnt been there for him and will hopefully do better going forward.
    Anyways i hope you do watch the documentary even if just for yourself cause it was very good. Oh also your comment about if Omar can dance hes a triple threat well...he totally can. He just did a couple concert performances and wow his dancing is crazy good so yup hes the full package can do it all.
    Thank you for sharing your reactions and real emotions (trust me i was right there with you with the crying 😭). Its always fun to hear your thoughts and humor as well.

      Thank you thank you so much Melissa for your comment, and for allowing me to share this series with you!!! I'm so glad you watched with me. :) And I completely agree with you about how much ground the show covered in a relatively short amount of time. I thought they way they addressed all the issues you mentioned was particularly well done, because I never felt that the show was overly "preachy". They didn't lean too hard into the messaging, but instead let the viewer realize it themselves through the great writing and performances, which I think was more organic and effective. You're also so right about the makeup and costuming. Very good point. I sure am going to miss this show!!

    Both Edvin Ryding (Wilhelm) and Malte Gårdinger (August) are such brilliant actors. Their excellence lies in the fact that they elevate every other actor. Malte (August) did that for Edvin (Wilhelm) and Frida Argento (Sara) and Edvin did that for Omar (Simon). Omar Rudberg is such an amazing artist, both actor and performer. I met him, and spoke to him, once and was completely mezmorised and Star Struck. ❤️ Yes, and do Young Royals Forever, please and thank you.

      Such a great observation! That's so true. What really struck me personally is how I had never heard of any of these actors coming into this show, and by the end they had completely won over my heart. I recently finished another show that I was watching off-channel (Succession), and even though I thought it was phenomenal, I did not feel the personal attachment to the characters or actors in the same way I did with YR. And by comparison, that show of course had a huge budget, won Emmys every year, etc etc. I honestly felt like this 3-season Swedish show with mostly unknown actors was easily on par (if not better!) than that one. Just my opinion :)

    • @annlundqvist9279
      @annlundqvist9279 21 день тому

      @@DavidvsFilm I’m sure we’ll see these actors in other contexts internationally. At least I hope. Alexander Skarsgård was in Succession, right? (another brilliant Swede) Everyone keeps referring to Sucession as being the best they’ve seen. I have that yet to look forward to. Although I feel that YR is beyond comparison to anything.

      @@annlundqvist9279 Yes, he sure was! Towards the end. In my opinion, it’s a very good, solid show, and there are some major twists. I watched it slowly, 2 or 3 episodes at a time here and there, up until the end when it got very intense.

    I think Sara's kiss goodbye was a comforting kiss, the same way her kiss was to him at the graduation dinner. But I get that it looks like mixed signals - for her it's like hugging him.

    “REALLY a Weasley RIGHT NOW???” I’m dying 😭😭😭😭😭 lmaoo
    But I wanted to say that I loved how you pointed out the party, saying it was like the 1st season 🥹 I haven’t thought about it that way, but it actually is like the 1st season, it ends kinda the way it started and it’s soooo😭😭
    I’m gonna miss your reactions to this show specifically cuz I loved it a lot🥹 BUT THANK GOD YOURE GOING TO REACT TO DOCUMENTARY OMG!!! Literally living for this.
    Lol also fun fact, the whole fandom was shitting themselves so scared of the ending being them splitting up for real, cuz it’s Sweden, and Swedes are not the type of people who love happy endings (well, I mean, they love but😂), they appreciate suffering more and things to be “realistic” rather than sweet and happy. So there was a VERY FAT chance of them to break up for good. Lisa (the creator) talked about that in one of her latest interviews. You can’t even imagine how on edge we all were lmao. You should watch some clips from that event where all the cast and fans watched this last ep together. It was WILD😄😄

    • @DavidvsFilm
      @DavidvsFilm  24 дні тому

      I'll definitely seek the clips out now that I've finished the show and can do so safely spoilers-wise. Thanks for your comment also about the party. I really did like how it felt like a nice 360 back to the beginning. The sentimentalist in me appreciated that. :)
      And OK about the ending and them staying together... I am so of two minds about this now that some time has passed. I'm not sure if you already heard me say this or not, but technically I came to this show by way of recommendations from Heartstopper. And even though I LOVE Heartstopper, it is somewhat (meaning very) unrealistic on the whole, imo. Though there were a few more not-so-joyous moments in Season 2, by and large everything generally works out on that show and everyone is happy. So even though it's a little more utopian in its approach, I do appreicate the balance it brought to the more "real-life" shows. Young Royals, by contrast, never worried about emotionally beating the sh*t out of its characters lol. So I really would not have been surprised if they had split them up - how young they are, his duty, making it seem more "real" - but I'm glad they didn't. I guess bottom line I still prefer the love story over the tragedy. ;)

    I think I said this before - you were one of my first reactors I ever listened to doing a reaction (nowadays I watch more of those but „back in the day“ I hadn’t) and I only did it because YR is such a phenomenal show so I wanted to see if the effect that you have described at the very end of this reaction (only in this case it being a grown woman in Germany getting that invested and completely binging the first two series in one night getting completely emotional) was happening to other people as well… and it did!
    I said it before and I do it again now, you are easily one of my fave reactors of YR! I guess I have watched them all during the long wait till S3. I like a lot of them but your reaction is my favorite - because you are NOT from the typical target group to get invested in such a show and therefore making more reflected comments, your hymnbook and your „tea“ and the calm manner - that all makes your reactions special to me.
    There might be another first for me with you. I have not been „over on patreon“ so far but I might do that for your uncut reactions… 😉
    CU definitely on other reactions David and thank you for your amazing content.

    What I wanted to point my finger on is the scene where Wille let the remainders of the frog snow-globe slide into the thrash was a very strong scene without any words! I don’t know if you didn’t register it or if it’s in the uncut reaction. To me it was kinda the end of the crown prince or even the being prince era for Wille - even if he didn’t fully recognized it for what it was then his soul had spoken and told him that this is not his way…

    And I admit that I needed a box of tissues . The script, storyline, cinematography of the crew was top notch.

    OMG, I loved watching your reaction to these last two episodes. I have literally watched the series dozens of times but watching it thru someone else’s eyes is wonderful.
    I laugh and cry at different spots depending on the mood I’m in.
    The actors and the characters they play are brilliant.
    David, I love your comparison to Friday Night Lights. That was an incredible series as well. It too felt like the characters were real. Taylor Kitsch made my heart sing.
    I am thrilled that Wilmon are end game but I would have understood if they weren’t. There was so much heavy shit they went thru as 16 and 17 year old young men.
    So many people have loved Felice but I have very mixed emotions. I will keep it in perspective that she was 16 years old but….
    Out of loneliness and insecurity she thru herself at August.
    When Wille had just poured his heart out to her about Simon, she really kissed Wille back - not cool!!! Wille was just so broken and vulnerable, and kissing Felice was not going to fix things, for either of them. She knew better but chose not to do better. This really speaks to teenage angst but it was still hard to watch.

      Thank you so much!!!! Friday Night Lights- "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose" baby!!! That was also a show that I never would have thought I would love so much (me and sports, especially football, meh), but I just loved loved loved it. And I really liked how you said "I laugh and cry at different spots depending on the mood I'm in." YES!! Same with me when I watch/re-watch things.
      With the whole Felice thing, I completely understand what you are saying. I'll tell you, I have a bad habit of watching "in the moment" sometimes, and forgetting things from the past. Same with how I was with Sara, for example. Oooooh I hated Sara sometimes! But then watching her with her Dad, August, and Simon, she could totally make me tear up with those damn heartfelt hugs and "sad dog" face. So Felice was kind of the same way. I did not care for her in the beginning, and she made some HORRIBLE choices like you mentioned, so I totally get where you're coming from.

    I think the whole queen/prince relationship worked really well. The Swedish royal family i think is slightly more relaxed than the English Royal family, but I imagine similar tensions over the personal relationship between parent and child and the formal relationship between monarch and heir. Watching something like this makes you realise how "cruel" the whole idea of a hereditary royal family is, the pressure put on them. It really is a gilded cage in which they live.

    The drinking age in Sweden is 18 in bars and 20 for buying alcohol in a store (the logic being bars can't sell to people who are visibly getting too drunk). And the third years are all 18 or 19 so it's legal or at least semi legal to serve them alcohol at the school. Not exactly sure it's OK to serve others alcohol if you're under 18 tho, but I guess Sara is 18... Love your reactions!!

    I cried for Sara in S3E5. 😢

      That girl makes me feel ALL the emotions! I've been so angry and frustrated at her sometimes, but then other times like in these episodes, just her expressions can make me cry.

    25:19 Unfortunately, by the time we got to this scene, I was so over them. I had wanted Stella and Rosh to hook up, but then Stella and Fredricka weren’t very nice to Rosh or Sara. So I didn’t really care about them getting together.

    Can you react to the documentary and Omars music? Let me know if you need recommendations:))

      @DavidvsFilm  22 дні тому +1

      I definitely plan to react to the documentary :) I would love to do music reactions also, I just don't know much about how that works with copyright, how to edit them, etc. But I am looking at that as a next step for the channel or for a separate channel, and if I did, you KNOW I would want to see/hear more from Omar ;) Thank you!

      @@DavidvsFilm if you put in the description of your vid “fair use” regiment it should be correct. You should not have issues with the copyright infringement
      If the music/videoclip is in use of some for review/criticismthen it would fall under fair use. You’d just have to obviously pause every now and then to “review”.
      If other artists music is used as background song or as a long intro, or just use it in any other way than for commentary, it would get copyrighted since that’s not “fair use”.
      Hope my explanation makes a bit sense :)) you should definitely still do your own research, but that’s what I know about it. Good luck 🍀🍀🍀

    I get that the Queen lost her firstborn son and will be grieving for him for a very long time, but constantly talking about him in front of Wilhelm is *not* good. Just don’t.
