    What makes Eric's death particularly tragic for Wilhelm, is the role Eric has played in his family. Not only was he the heir to the throne and therefore drew everyone's attention away from Wilhelm, he also took on the role of a co-parent. He was the one who took Wilhelm to school, he called and asked how he was doing, he encouraged him to leave his room on Parents' Day, he noticed that Wilhelm had a crush on someone. He acted as a go-between for Wilhelm and his parents. Now that he is gone ,it is much more noticeable when they are not there, because there is no one to replace them.

    I loved how you both just sat in silence and stared at each other at the end. Like you both were taking it all in and didn’t know what to say and had to take a minute to gather your thoughts. What an ending right! I will miss this show so much!! The acting and chemistry of Edvin and Omar is unmatched. It’ll be hard to find another show that gets to me the way this one does. I know many people agree. I really enjoyed all your reactions and commentary to all 3 seasons. You both are wonderful, Thank you! 💜💜💜

    When August becomes crown prince at the end, things come full circle to Season 2 Episode 1 when Wille talks with Felice and said: "I will punish him in my own way, you will see." With his renunciation of the crown and August's realization that the royal life is not so desirable after all, Wille has achieved exactly that. And August realizes this when he sees Wille leaving his parents' car - he suspects what happened. That's why you see him looking into the camera in shock

    • @67Second
      @67Second Місяць тому +4

      Yes, exactly! Note the attention to detail in the writing. As August tells his friends that he is Wille's "backup" and his friends point out how awful that is, August puts the King chess piece on the table. Checkmate!

    • @belpop
      @belpop Місяць тому +6

      But what makes it even better is that Wille didn’t do it to punish August. He wasn’t being vindictive in that moment the way he felt toward him in s2 and earlier in s3. They had come to a sort of ceasefire and peace after August genuinely and sincerely apologized along with Wille finding out what happened to August with the initiation and how much it impacted him. He thought he was actually giving August what he wanted (something he NEVER would’ve done before). It not only gives August a punishment but wipes Wille clean of any guilt because he wasn’t setting out to intentionally hurt anyone.

    I'm amazed that you managed to keep it together like that because I cried so much. 😅 I felt so sorry for August as well, because he really grew on me, but you are right, the throne is his punishment. I don't know if you guys noticed: Queen Kristina hung a crocheted frog around August's neck at his graduation and that sealed his fate. I read somewhere that Omar said the ending would be "heartbreaking in a good way" and it really was. It endet on such a hopeful note, and hope is what we all need. Thank you, guys 💜

    your sigh after the scene with august apology, Yes, finally he apologies and it seems genuine this time, but there's still someone he hasn't apologies to.😔
    Sara loves August be she realize that August loves the way he is when he is with her more than he actually loves her (if that makes sense).
    That lake scene was so beautiful (and totally improvised by the 2 actors) 😭
    "That was not planned", but the whole choir sing the lyrics and even some of the students, simon wrote a song and made an impact on people at that school when he thought no one cares.🥰🥲
    Oh! we all had goosebumps on March 18th, for sure!!!

    I think August really loved Sara and the gesture with the horse, he already wanted to buy it when he was still with her, it just took some time to get it and wanted to surprise her, they just weren't together for long enough so that he can surprise her while they're still dating

    I so enjoy watching these episodes with you two. Your recap discussions are great fun. Hope you’re feeling better and Happy Birthday Panos!
    This episode, as a show fan, was so emotional! Malte and Omar had some standout moments. The other main characters were great too but those two stood above the others in this episode for me. The tone was so sad, we felt their loss…school closing, moving away from their friends, and heartbreak. The reconciliations couldn’t come at a better time! We needed to start believing again that love can win. Felice and Sara really missed each other. We feel how happy they are as they come back together. Christina FINALLY showing she can and will be a mom to Wille. ♥️ and then Wille having the courage and trust in himself to say what he believes in. He doesn’t believe in the monarchy. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t love his parents. He really did listen and learn from Simon. It’s ok to be and think differently.
    And who didn’t know Simon was still in love with Wille?!?! 💜Best ending/beginning ever. We can now see a future for those 4 and it’s beautiful!
    If you don’t do a reaction video to the YR special, I do hope you’ll take time to watch it. This cast, writer, producers and crew are so special. It’s the magic that made this show the phenomenal success it is. Especially the trust the writer and producer had to let Omar and Edvin create. Their improv instincts and trust in each other gave the show the chemistry and believability it is known for.
    Look forward to your next videos!!! ❤

    This series was so beautiful and I'm so happy Wilhelm and Simon were given a happy ending, I cried the whole episode! 🤣
    I thought i was alone in wanting a happy ending for August although yes i do know what he did was very wrong and that he did need to be punished but i couldn't help but feel for him because deep down he was just a broken child who had suffered and gone through a lot, however I know that this still doesn't excuse what he did but it gave an insight into why he became the way he did and learning all of that made my heart break for him. He did need to face some consequences and I also view him be handed the crown as his ultimate punishment, it was something he desired so badly all along even in this season when at the beginning he made the royal court promise him that he was next in line, he slowly began to realize that it maybe wasn't what he expected it to be and that it wasn't a good thing. He ultimately was made to feel what Wilhelm felt, the pressure and loss of freedom after he had it, he had the freedom to be him, freedom to chose his future, freedom to choose to date, with zero judgement and zero consequences to then have a future and path all chosen and set in place for him. It would be torturous for him who loved to be in control of everything. He also lost who I believe he did genuinely love, Sara was his Simon and i think he realized what he made Wilhelm lose after what he did in season 1. Interesting that they did end up trading places like he wanted but instead Wilhelm was set free and he became caged. His story was well written and so well played. 👏

    My o-Wow-Moment clearly was when Wille confirmed it was him in the video with „most beautiful boy“ playing.
    Besides: Ich finde, dass August die krasseste Entwicklung gemacht hat. Laut seinem Brief hat er sich ja im ersten Jahr in jemanden verwandelt, den andere nicht (mehr) mobben und herumschubsen können. Dann wird er selber zum mobber und „villain“ der Serie. Es ist auch so gut durchdacht dass er ausgerechnet Sarah fanciet, denn sie kommt aus einer niederen Schicht, die er bekanntlich verachtet. In Staffel 1 folge 3 erzählt er beim elterntag, sein Ziel sei es, das Anwesen seines Vaters (Årnas) wieder aufzubauen, das er aber durch seine Taten komplett verliert (wegen dem Video). Und das obwohl er „lieber sterben würde“ statt was davon herzugeben.
    Er denkt die ganze Zeit, dass der Thron das absolut größte ist, realisiert aber dann so langsam, was es bedeutet und was er dafür aufgeben muss. Hier ändert sich nicht er und seine Umstände, sondern die Perspektive. Ich liebe das.
    Die Entschuldigung gegenüber Wille bei der White Party ist mein absoluter Lieblingsmoment von ihm. Eine so aufrichtige Entschuldigung sieht man selten in einer Serie.
    Ich finde es sehr wichtig, dass Sarah und August nicht zusammen gekommen sind. Es hat damit angefangen dass er sie benutzt hat und die beiden zusammen waren absolut toxisch für ihr Umfeld. Trotzdem war Sarah dass beste was August passieren konnte. Denn durch sie hat er seine Verachtung gegenüber Nichtadligen abgelegt (zumindest einen Teil davon), was eine wichtige Basis dafür ist, dass er ein guter und fairer König wird one day. Dass er gut darin ist fair zu sein, hat man als präfekt gesehen (vor allem im Kontrast zu Vincent).

    • @therainbowreels
      @therainbowreels  28 днів тому

      I think we can agree that even though August was the “villain” of the series, he was one of the most interesting characters in the whole show! His character arc is amazing, from them explaining why he became a bully to apologising to Wille at the end and realising that becoming King is actually not the greatest thing to achieve, as he has to give up most of his freedom

    I found the rapid turnaround for the queen a little too convenient plot-wise. And I wonder how it will go for Wilhelm and Simon. Wille may have abdicated from his formal entitlement, but he remains the natural son of the reigning monarch. The class division between Wille and Simon also remains. How will they navigate that remaining gap?

    • @belpop

      They will continue to learn from one another without the heavy pressure of the throne. Yeah Wille is still a prince, but I kinda think of wilmon like I do Harry and Meghan. Sure they get attention sometimes but they mostly just live their day to day lives.

    Thank you both for your kind attitude towards August, he deserves kindness and I agree with every word you say about him.
    I would like to protect the Queen a little. I know a woman who lost an adult son, and this loss is unbearably difficult, so the character of Pernilla August (love her so much) is very, very believable. And the fact that she let Wilhelm go, let him go as a son, recognized him as an independent person, in my opinion, is the end of the whole story, because only at this moment everything made sense. Looking forward to the reaction to the documentary with great impatience!

    I kept going back and forth on my feelings about this finale. I liked it. Then I didn't like it. Finally, I decided that I liked it for what it was. I do feel like it was a bit rushed. Most series finales leave you satisfied knowing that the world will continue for the characters, and all will be fine. This...not so much. Like you said, August now has a future that I really don't think he's capable of handling. What happens if he decides he can't handle the responsibility. We know he has an eating disorder and has never been addressed. We know he has severe anxiety that he self-medicates. It's going to be very hard for him.
    Simon thought he had it rough before. Wait until the public finds out that Wille has abdicated. We know that he did it for himself, but I'm sure many in the public will think he did it for Simon, because he's a "socialist". That's going to lead to more trouble. How will Simon handle that?
    The only people who I truly feel have a happy ending are Sara and Felice.

    I loved this episode and the storyline was brilliant ....... apart from one thing! I was really hoping that August and Sara would get together and become a permanent couple. It was clear that August had changed in a big way (I mean he had to really) and that turning point we saw in that highly emotional scene when just Wilhelm and August were together alone and August told Wilhelm that he was truly sorry for every bad thing that he had done to him in the past I don't think that Sara was really aware of how much August had changed for the better and that he had at last transitioned from child to adulthood. If she HAD realised that, then she may have accepted the 'new' August in her life. I thought her excuse for not having a relationship with him was pathetic and not valid in my opinion. She was almost cutting her nose off to spite her face as the expression goes.

    • @roze6321
      @roze6321 Місяць тому +2

      but how would that work? her not being with august allowed her to choose what is really important to her. she says this to felice. that she does have feelings for august, but they are not as important as her feelings for her brother and for felice. did august change for the better? sure. but it doesn't erase what he did to her literal family and friends. this is the man who, along with his other friends, bullied simon for being lower class. attempted to scam him out of his money. posted an explicit video of him to the world. threatened to report him to the police. he was also someone who treated felice like shit when he was dating her.
      what sara cares the most about is her friends and family. in s1 and s2, she ended up screwing over the both of them. so now, she has grown and has realized that she would rather have those that have been there for her the most. august will move on and eventually find someone else. it's not worth it to sara to be with this guy and lose those closest to her.

    • @showmoke
      @showmoke Місяць тому +1

      @@roze6321 - well, I was thinking that August had also grown to the extent that he genuinley felt really bad at how he had treated both Wilhelm AND Simon and now had reached the stage where he had respect for both of them. Yes, August HAD done those terrible things, but has now realised the errors of his past ways and now moving forward I can't ever see him reverting back to the sort of things that he has done in the past and with all that in mind, I was disappointed that he and Sara went there separate ways. I mean near the end, even Wilhelm thanked August for his genuine apology AND congratulated August on passing his graduation. So for Wilhelm to find it in his heart to forgive August, I thought maybe Sara could also do the same.
      Also, it seemed to me that August had looked down upon the working classes which is why he had treated Simon the way that he had done, but in the end I think that he had changed his mind about that in his differences of opinion with Vincent in this final season.
