Hi Taylor. We're planning to retire early in Penang but not very soon as our children are very young. Perhaps you can cover the best place to stay for those family with kids? I prefer Chinese/English school as I heard that Penang offers excellent school system. Thanks🥰
@@dovygoodguy1296hi. A bit late reply. I've heard that after the initial 3 months (free tourist visa), you can extend (and pay) for another 3 months. After that, you'll have to do a border run. Depending on the officer, they may or may not allow you entry. After a 6-month stay as a tourist, they want you to leave or apply for a retirement or digital nomad visa, which has financial requirements. Accdg to some Malaysians, they don't want poor expats & don't want their country to be overran by foreigners.
@kitty_s23456 I'm not surprised. The situation with Malaysia is just too complicated and unpredictable. Even Mexico is cracking down on border runs. But Mexico is being taken over by the cartels that are more powerful than the government and army. Maybe a young single person would live with all these problems in these countries, but not us older folks. We might just get stuck staying in the increasingly wacko US and Canada until better options arise. Especially being on the cusp of World War III. Forget Europe. Forget Abu Dhabi. Forget hot and humid Asia. Forget Panama and Costa Rica. Forget the Dominican Republic. I don't blame any countries for fearing a massive influx of foreigners. It's only natural. I don't think UA-camrs are being realistic enough, especially if they are feeling so fed up and affected by events in the US and Canada.
No idea how come new MM2H pass is for retiree first of all it's lowest option Siver option only for 5 year plus 5 year renewable visa and you have to deposit $150,000 and must buy property 1 million RM and must keep for ten year. So does that means after 10 years retiree must leave the Country?
Taylor, stinging jellyfish are a NIGHTMARE, you can't really see them until its too late. The burns are very painful. Not worth the risk for me. Use swimming pools instead. Are there ways that the locals control the jellyfish population ?
"Penang" is the Englisman's mispronounciation of of the Malay word "Pinang" (which many Malaysians have followed). "Pulau Pinang" or "Pinang Island" is the full name of the island.
in fact the malay word of Pinang is also an influence word from the chinese word of 槟榔. it was first recorded in a map by admiral Cheng Hoe in the early 15th century. the isle of Betel nut in translation in English. "Bing Lang Yu". so there is not right and wrong, it is a transformation of Pronunciation over time by different languages.
You are smart to retire in Msia with good living, little violence & great food. Just imagine yr US peers losing a big chunk of theirs 401k retirement svgs
As a local retiree teacher, my town Seremban is the best town to retire. It is not too busy, easy to go on one day trips to KL, Malacca and Port Dickson beach. I could go for holidays to Kuantan via Bandar Muazam Shah, Johor Baru and Frazer Hills via Jelebu Karak Bentong. Cheers.
Probocis monkeys in Penang??? They are the nose monkeys. I think you need to head over to Borneo for those. I'm oretty sure you meant Macquakes. They are the naughty ones that steal food and stuff....
Retiring in Malaysia sounds good, BUT, do/can foreign born residents get used to the heat & humidity, need air con 24x7 ? Stopped over one night in Singapore years ago, the heat was unforgettable.

How lucky you are. 😊
Love your videos Taylor! We are looking at relocating as a family to Malaysia-do you know anyone that has done that? Ps: liked and subscribed!
Try watching kenzo's quest (theynare finding ways to get long term visas) ryan calder (i assumed he works as a teacher at an international school, not sure if its correct. He lives in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan) and Terengganu Girls (their father is a fly fishing enthusiast and teaches others on fly fishing, tjey live in terengganu)
Thank you! 😊
Great video!
May I ask why you moved from Penang to Kuala lumpur?
🤔 I often wonder. 😊
Hi Tylor iam just arrived home holidays from Cameron Highland.. Really nice weather.. Coling..like Autumn season.. I advise you to go there.. Hehehe.. Good vedeo nice content.. Keep it up.. Tq

Hi! Would you say that overtourism isn’t an issue yet in Malaysia? Sadly things can change when that happens.
Not an issue yet
Absolutely
Hi Taylor. We're planning to retire early in Penang but not very soon as our children are very young. Perhaps you can cover the best place to stay for those family with kids? I prefer Chinese/English school as I heard that Penang offers excellent school system. Thanks🥰
You are right, there are many international schools in Penang.
I took the schools part out of the video because I thought it was getting too long and retirees generally don’t need schools. There are plenty tho. 😊
Do senior expats receive discounts in maylasia, food, healthcare, attractions, public transportation?
Some. Any senior discount extends to Expats. 🤗
Hi Andrew. Is it still possible in 2024 to get $500 condos in Penang?
Yes, absolutely 👍
Earl Grey goes shopping:
He's telling the man, I would like 1 red fish, 1 yellow fish 🐠, 2 squid 🦑 and 1/4 pound shrimp 🦐
Yep. 😂😂😂
No it's the macaque, prosbocis can only be found in borneo.
Really? Thanks. 😊
Is it still easy and affordable for someone to qualify to retire there? I heard only the rich could qualify to retire there.
At the moment only the rich but hoping for change
Why did you move from Penang to KL ?
Will be revealed in next week’s video. 😂
How big is Penang? The size of D.C. or New York City?
About one million
Some people may like taiping.
Yes, I plan on talking about Ipoh/Taiping. 😊
Hi Taylor, great story of your stay in Penang swimming with lizards!🦎
🎉🎉
What happens if a person just stays on as a tourist with border runs?
You can be refused entry if they catch on. Personally, I would find it too stressful
@@andrewtaylor4558 Do they have specific restrictions on long-term tourists and border runs? Would you believe that Nicaragua has none??
No. Renew
Taylor, stinging jellyfish are a NIGHTMARE, you can't really see them until its too late. The burns are very painful. Not worth the risk for me. Use swimming pools instead. Are there ways that the locals control the jellyfish population ?
Not that I know of. 😞
Still not strong enough but I subscribed haha
Good videos, keep it up. I enjoy watching them! Hahaha, on on !
Thank you so much 😊
"Penang" is the Englisman's mispronounciation of of the Malay word "Pinang" (which many Malaysians have followed). "Pulau Pinang" or "Pinang Island" is the full name of the island.
It must have been an island full of Pinang (Beetle Nut) tree..once upon a time.
in fact the malay word of Pinang is also an influence word from the chinese word of 槟榔. it was first recorded in a map by admiral Cheng Hoe in the early 15th century. the isle of Betel nut in translation in English. "Bing Lang Yu". so there is not right and wrong, it is a transformation of Pronunciation over time by different languages.
@@tgertatt6167 way off
@@BlakJak21 I believe is the other way around.
You are smart to retire in Msia with good living, little violence & great food. Just imagine yr US peers losing a big chunk of theirs 401k retirement svgs
Yes, I’m too old to rely on stocks. 😊
i really enjoy your sense of humour taylor..really cute🥰😛
Thank you so much 😊
A+++.
Penang
KL
Malacca
Johor
Kuching?
Yes, all on the list. 😊
Cheers.
Yes, it is a 100 degrees F paradise.
It is never 100 degrees.
Kuching is nice
Probocis monkeys in Penang??? They are the nose monkeys. I think you need to head over to Borneo for those.
I'm oretty sure you meant Macquakes. They are the naughty ones that steal food and stuff....
Yes, I got that wrong! 😂
Earl Grey oversees the wet market...here fishy, fishy!
👍
Pulau, not Palau hahahaha...
Sorry about that! 😂

I missed it now have to go back and have a look. Well done
@@beyondmoneybusiness yes it's bit hard to spot. It's sitting up on the bench where the guy is chopping something. Looking straight at the camera
Retiring in Malaysia sounds good, BUT, do/can foreign born residents get used to the heat & humidity, need air con 24x7 ? Stopped over one night in Singapore years ago, the heat was unforgettable.
I’ve gotten used to the heat but I grew up in Florida. 😂
