Best Leaf goalie since Bower/Sawchuk and it isn't even close. My memory of Cujo is heading down to Joe Louis Arena when the Wings were a dynasty. Getting outshot 40-24, and coming home with the two points because Curtis was stellar.

I know ill probably get flak for saying this but, hes without question the best goalie ive ever seen play for the leafs. The leafs of the early 2000s wouldnt have been contenders without him, he was so good he was carrying that team. Yes the leafs had some great players like sundin and mogilny but that defense wasnt stanley cup worthy at all. Cujo made them look way better than they actually were, he was more important to the team than sundin was in my opinion. With that being said Sundin was a great player, and im a leafs fan.

LOSTINDAkLOUDS, goalies back then we're very different to goalies now, but in no way is goaltending easier due to the equipment or anything for that matter. Although the gear IS bigger 1:Skaters are much better now skill wise and strategy wise
2:Goalies have this equipment for protection, the league has been reducing gear size for years and it isn't much of a difference
3:The decrease in scoring since then is due to goalies being more skillful and better taught
4:Goalies are a lot taller and bigger than they were then
5:If you don't think goalies are as entertaining to watch anymore, have you seen my highlights?

This man simply stole games on the regular. I can say that with first hand accounts as a die hard Leaf fan. We won playoff series we had no business winning because of this man lol.
That save on Nieuwendyk is my favourite save of all time. Game 7 on the road against a heavily favored Dallas Stars team, in overtime. Just incredible. The Oilers win the ensuing faceoff and rush up ice where Todd Marchant scores the series winner. It was awesome to watch as a neutral. I hadn't come to despise the Oilers and their constantly being rewarded for screwing things up over, and over, and over again. That franchise really doesn't deserve McDavid.

Don't mean to nitpick but.... could have used some more highlights from his swan song in Washington, especially the back to back sequence on Backstrom and Ovechkin. A point blank one-timer from Backstrom immediately followed by a one-time cannon from Ovechkin..... all with a minute left in overtime. And you chose the decidedly tame broadcast of his iconic save on Rene Corbet. How could you leave out "Joseph out of his net, uh-oh hes knocked down! Scrambling back in, Corbets alone in front!!! GREAT SAVE JOSEPH!!!!!!!!"

@@matthoffman6962, it’s the hall of fame, not hall of nostalgia. If Curtis was put in, I wouldn’t be totally against it because of his contributions to the game but it would set the bar pretty low and the hall would be watered down after that.
Goalies need to meet some compulsory categories in my opinion. 40+ wins in a season, regular season hardware (vezina, Jennings, presidents), postseason success 1, cups, 2, finals appearances, 3, semifinal appearances. And postseason hardware, all star appearances and lastly, international success.
Again, I like Joseph but he barely achieved any of these.

Guys, I'm obviously kidding, Cujo was clutch as hell, he was one of the greatest for sure. It's a shame he doesn't have two rings though ;)

It is absolutely comical watching this road hockey goalie play. Only experts with technical training and coaching can see that Joseph struggles technically and had very little advanced training in his youth. If not for the advanced protection, insulation, and protection that the NHL and the NCAA systems provided him, it's clear he is no more skilled than your average beer league goalie. He is often out of position, off balance, and is more often in deperation mode. Lucky man!

If you actually know anything about goaltending and you break this video down frame by frame...you can see how untrained and weak technically, Joseph really was. Thank goodness for NHL defensive systems. It's like I'm watching a road hockey goalie. Sorry...but watch for yourself.

I still think to this day what could been if Joseph and Belfour had been on the leafs at the same time with Pat Quinn as coach and Sundin as Capitan along wirh Robert's McCabe Mogilny Domi the leafs teams we're ridiculous back in the early 2000s
