    • @TroutHuntingNZ
      @TroutHuntingNZ  6 років тому +20

      matt hanna hey dude yeah your probably right. I only hope it did survive as the blood was from its tongue. Not it’s gill directly but I think unlikely. No one wanted to kill this fish. We are all sports fishermen trust me everyone felt really bad but in the heat of the moment the angler decided best thing was to give her a chance. Sorry if it bothers you. Cheers Gareth

      It's true the fish might have died as it is clearly bleeding a fair bit. I myself have released fish bleeding from the tongue in my own personal pond and have seen them tough it out the bigger fish are more resiliant. I say the fish had a chance to pull through.

    The news is good Gareth, your level of concern for animal welfare can only get better after this. How about thinking what's best for the trout after hooking it rather than what's best for Gareth? Instead of offering us your blessing at the end and imploring us to like your videos, give us something to like. Show us skills of keeping fish in the water, not handling them and getting them released quickly. Be a real hero and lead the way to better welfare for trout, after they're hooked.

      Lokman, the exact location (for minute 10:30) is somewhere one of the salmon farm along Twizel Canal. (In Bahasa, ikan kat situ memang banyak dan sedap dimakan. Air bersih)

    Well definitely not a fly fishing video bunch of bass guys with there spinning gear and obviously barbed hooks....shame watching a 7/8 year old trophy fish making his last swim .....probably should of edited the release and the cloud of blood

    • @TroutHuntingNZ
      @TroutHuntingNZ  6 років тому +1

      Chad Weberg sorry you didn’t enjoy this one mate. Yep I would prefer to always fly fish but where nesscery I don’t mind other technics. I didn’t edit out the bleeding because it is what really happened, that fish is probably dead yes and he was advised to keep it but wanted to give it a chance and I support that. Cheers

      Chad Weberg fish mortality is always a risk with any kind of fishing even barbless fly fishing. It is just unlucky and a shame it was this fish in particular

    • @TroutHuntingNZ
      @TroutHuntingNZ  6 років тому

      yep Barb less is the way to go

    • @zzz7zzz9
      @zzz7zzz9 6 років тому

      very true. I always use barbless, even where barbed trebles are legal, I switch to single barbless. but i'm purely a C&R guy and want to release the fish as easily, quickly, and safely as possible. plus, barbless are easier to remove from yourself as well.
